Curious as to why this particular cache shows up in my FTF list, even though it's not tagged with {*FTF*}

It can be also marked with {*FTF*} {FTF} [FTF], but they are not visible in your log:

At a guess the 'They were FTF @ 12:20 AM' may be triggering the detection - its not listed as an option but could well be what was triggering it. You could try rephrasing that sentence and force a refresh of your logs and see if that resolves it.

Correct. There are a few phrasings that will trigger FTF tagging even if not listed as official FTF tags, but that are used often. That happens to be one of them.
No. I write just plain FTF in my logs all the time. This is the only one that triggers the filter and (incorrectly) appears on my FTF list.
Just "FTF" doesn't trigger. It's adding "@ 12:34" that does it.
To be even more exact, it's the "@" that does it. If you change the text to "at" instead, it won't appear as an FTF.

I always play safe - if I want to mention FTF in my log but ensure that it does not add to my FTF count I use spaces, as in "Just missed out on the F T  F"  or avoid the phrase entirely, as in "Just missed out on the empty log book". Either method works well and I have never had a false positive.
Apparently there are other phrases that will trip the FTF filter. However I do not know what they are.

I have removed all instances of FTF and @ from the log and it STILL appears in the list. I wonder if I have to wait for project-gc to update logs from GroundSpeak; had an FTF this morning (tagged as usual) that, sixteen hours later, STILL does not appear on my list.
Log updates can take a few days before PGC discovers them. I think it finds them next time that cache is logged. You can speed this up using the Support > Self Help facility.
Well it's finally off the list. Still mystifies me why that particular log entry gave a false positive when similar ones did not.
Edited logs may take a long time for Project-GC to detect unless the cache is logged by someone else afterwards. As mentioned, you can use the Self-support function to speed this up.

New FTFs not appearing: You always need to allow 24-36 hours from logging online to finds appearing in Project-GC's database (and right now, there is a warning about the update queue is unusually long).

this does not look like answer to the original question. Can you clarify what you mean by this sentence?
