Not specifically PGC related - but the answer is probably known here

If a cacher moves out of an area and decides to either have some of his/her caches adopted if there are any takers or have them archived. I am aware that any archived caches the fav points do not get affected, but...
What happens to the Fav points for the caches that get adopted. I am not asking in relation to being linked to the cache itself as that is self evident, it is more a question relative to the CO - for example my PGC stats bar says I have 999 Fav points (yea!! waiting for the 1,000th) on the 108 caches I own - Now if I manage to get some of my caches adopted are those that have been given prior to adoption still attributed to the original CO (me) and any subsequent ones attributed to the new CO or do the Fav points stay with the cache and ALL get attributed to the new CO. Meaning my stats bar could show a drop in Fav points once I have managed to get some adopted.

Hope that makes sense

Pretty sure Fav points belong to the cache and so get associated with whoever the current owner of the cache is - so if I adopt a cache with 1000FP I would instantly get 1000FP to my name.

The only way round this would be to instead archive the cache and get the new adopter to recreate the listing page (the container of course could just stay in place).

whch is what I thought might be the case - a shame as the only reason that cache may have many points is due to the work put in by the original CO which would include the wheres and hows.
Agreed, one other option of course is not to have it officially adopted but instead either hope finders do any needed maintenance (people are generally pretty good at replacing logs), or as a nice local cacher do maintenance on it if and when necessary - or do it yourself if you happen to be passing in the area. Obviously it depends how low maintenance a cache is but for some low trouble ones this isn't actually a big issue.

The favorite points belong to the cache, and there is no history attached to this; all of them are counted towards the current owner of the cache.

Can confirm that since we also have adopted a cache

I gave away a cache to a friend and that cache had a few Fav-Points. They were transferred with the cache, just as the the logs were. It had nearly 1000 found it logs and those were transferred, too.

The logs and therefore the favorite-points belong to the cache and not to the owner.
