Indeed, it appears this has to be corrected. The reason is that these islands have a special status according to the Svalbard Treaty dating from 1920: they do belong to Norway in a political sense (Norwegian law applies) but are considered a neutral territory including the demilitarisation of the archipelago. This applies to all islands, whatever size, between 74 and 81 deg north and between 10 and 35 deg East. The contract also ensures equal economical rights to all participants in that treaty.
