Is it possible to do challenges based on badges. Example number of badges, type , gold or emerald or a mixture of the ones.

Yes it is. But only for the badges whose data is available from geocaching.com and which meet the current guidelines for a challenge cache. See https://coord.info/GC8APB9

Nothing like that at present, but I suppose it's possible to code that. Just completed a score based script, ie. Diamond is X points, Sapphire is Y points, etc.
