[Awaiting feedback] New checker for GC8THND (wide-body aircraft)

[Awaiting feedback] New checker for GC8THND (wide-body aircraft)
June 29, 2020 08:27AM
Hello,

A long-body aircraft is an aircraft that can fly more than 3,000 nautical miles (ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization).
The challenge is based on this distance between two caches.
To validate the challenge the geocacher must have found 10 pairs of caches separated by at least 5536 kilometers.
So, a found cache must be separated from the next or previous one by at least 5562 kilometers and this 20 times (not necessarily 20 times in a row, it would be extremely difficult !).

The link of the cache challenge is https://coord.info/GC8THND

Thanks. Didier from Loulousoleil.

Could you please have a word with your reviewer? I believe that a challenge based on consecutive finds is against guideline 14:
Quote
Not acceptable
Not finding caches: design that limits or punishes any element of finding caches. Examples: Challenges that require ratios in finds; such as 10% of finds must be Attended logs, challenges that require finding only some particular type for over time, as 100 consecutive Mystery finds.

Hello,

I will have a word with my reviewer, thanks.

This thread has not received any further feedback and will therefor be moved to ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible). Should the requester have any queries he can raise his question on this thread in the archived section,

Hello,

Here is the answer from Geocaching HQ :

"Hello Didier,

Thanks for contacting Geocaching HQ.

If we understand your challenge idea correctly, you are proposing to find one cache and then find the next cache at least 5536 kilometers away from the first one. If so, you have received correct guidance that the design that limits or punishes any element of finding caches, and therefore it would not be publishable.

Even if it was not required to find the two caches in order, we believe that it would not be a publishable challenge, as we interpret some distance between two caches to be a bookkeeping exercise than an achievement. As noted in the guidelines, "Challenge criteria must be positive and require that a geocaching goal be achieved."

Best regards,

Chris
Geocaching HQ"

So we will change the goal of this cache challenge. It's like Jules Verne's book called "Around the World in Eighty Days"
The geocacher must have found 80 caches 5 000 km away from his home location and the distance from cache to cache (all of his caches) must be greater or equal than 40 000 km.

Thanks for your work.
Best regards. Didier from Loulousoleil

The checkers do not have access to the user's home coordinates. Challenges are not allowed to be based upon them either, and haven't been allowed to for several years. This is a matter of integrity.

Sorry, I forgot something :
For the cache found in Europe it's at least 1 and at least 80 caches found anywhere in the world but not in Europe.

Hello,

Hum, before the previous message we wrote another, but it seems that it has not been published!
It sounded this :

"Oh we are really beginners.
We will change the goal of the cache challenge and the goal is now :
the geocachers must have found at least 1 cache in Europe
and at least 80 caches anywhere in the world but not in Europe
and the distance from cache to cache for all the caches found by the players must be great or equal than 40 000 km

Hote it will match this time"

Thank's for your work.
Didier from Loulousoleil.
