Re: Need Checker for GC7E02F - tree climning

This Challenge has already been reviewed, and only awaits a Challenge Checker to be accepted for publication.

The Challenge has two requirements:

- You must have logged at least 25 caches with the tree climbing attribute.
- You must have logged at least 1 cache with tree climbing attribute and T-factor 5.

Is this technically possible? I really hope so. There are many tree climbers in my region (Trondheim, Norway), and I feel I have found the right tree for this challenge.

If the second requriement is impossible, I will have to make the Challenge with only the 25 required caches. I really hope this will not be necessary.

I have tested it on the list of cachers I found to be qualified. I thereby discovered three misspellings on the list.

I also checked a number of cachers that I knew were not qualified, but had fulfilled one of the requirements. All of them were rightly labelled as not qualified.

Two of those on the list turned out not to be qualified, they had logged too many caches twice.

However, one of these had exactly 25 according to my counting. There may be a double logging that I did not find, but I want to check this out. Could it be that the checker requires 25 in addition to the one that requires T5? If so, I hope you can adjust that, simply because this may cause some unnecessary frustration.

Beside this, everything looks perfect to me.

Tests are separate. You should see the same T5 cache counted in both listings.

I now found another cacher with excactly 25 tree climbs, including 3 with T5, and the spell checker got it right. So no problem!

I had already got another checker (above) that works OK, but tested out this one, too.

It seems to work correcly both by recognizing the qualified, and thos only fulfilling one of the requirements.

However, there is one that had excactly 25 climber caches, that were rated as not qualified. May it be that the script required 25 climbers PLUS one with T5?

I do not think I can give the name of the cacher here, but I may send it by mail som you can check the one yourself.

Checker 29643 as provided by me (and apparently as tested by yourself given by the usage counters) was configured to be 25 tree climbing PLUS 1 tree climbing that's T5, ie. 26 caches in total. If you want the total to be 25, ie. 25 tree climbing caches of which one must be a T5, I can reconfigure it.

The one with T=5 should be one of the 25. I am quite sure a significant fraction of cachers will read it that way, so it will avoid a risk of unnecessary frustration to keep the request of 25 including the one (or the ones?) with T=5. .

Next time I have to be more aware of the possibility for such misinterpretation when formulating my requests. This was my first challenge, so I am definitely in a learning process.

I ended up linking the first checker, but I have kept the link to the other if there should turn out to a problem with the first. I have learned in my research to appreciate redundancy and backup.

I have now got two chekers for my cache, and both work very well. I really appreaciate the good work of you both!

Now the final step is left. How do I connect in to my cache? I imagined I should be able to find that out, but it seems to require more than what I can achieve with simple logic and following links.

So, eh... what do I do now?

For placing the checker in your listing you can follow this procedure
1. Go to your Checker's page here (linked above).
2. There are buttons on the right side of the screen. Click the bottom one that says "Link."
3. Follow the instructions in the pop-up box. Copy the HTML into your clipboard.
4. Go to your cache listing and place it in "edit" mode.
5. Paste the HTML from your clipboard into the desired location within your cache description.
6. Check the acknowledgment boxes at the bottom of the edit page and then save your changes
