[Awaiting feedback] Checker for GC9D79F transposed fizzy
June 27, 2021 12:34AM
I got frustrated after transposing the d4t3.5 for the D3.5t4 I needed and thought it would make an interesting challenge. You still need 81 finds, but can use transposed digits so 2 d1t4 can be used instead of d4t1. Thus can be done for any of the combinations needed to complete a fizzy.

IJ + JI =2N

What N are you looking for?

Also just to make sure I understand, someone can complete this with one cache on the diagonal elements and a total of two in the combination of the off diagonal pairs?

Someone whose fizzy grid looks like below would qualify for N=1.

This example would be all green

This would show 5/1 and 1/5 red since that is the combi they are missing

Yes, I suspect most will only have a few gaps. I have done a few 4/5 and 4/3.5 when I wanted the opposite. This will make a 'fizzy' a bit easier.

So what value of N do you want? N=1?

I think one shows be fine.

Any limits on cache types or locations or anything else? Folks usually want locationless caches excluded.

I don't think type is too important, no point adding any difficulty.

The center diagonal line is displaying twice the actual value

I am confused. I thought your ij notation was from the "normal" d/t matrix. Then the main diagonal for the "transposed" matrix would be ij+ji which is equal to 2*ii.

If you take the normal d/t matrix of 0,1, and 2 from above, then the "transposed" matrix is all 2's which is needed to pass the n=1 case.

The diagonal is where I and j are equal, so adding IJ and JI gives twice the needed value. It makes a consistent calculation, but I think not showing the actual DT values would be confusing.

Do you have a suggested remedy?
Re: Checker for GC9D79F transposed fizzy

It should display toe actual values in the DT chart not 2n which is used to check for ant4ansposed pairing. MetMmeTraveller55 is one of my tests, they need a 5/3 and 5/5 to complete the fizzy. They have 2 3/5 but no 5/5 so still fail. Only the 5/5 should should be highlighted, and both should display 0

How will they know they have completed the challenge looking at that? It still seems confusing.
Re: Checker for GC9D79F transposed fizzy

It would show the 5/5 as the only one they need since they have 2 3/5 to cover the 5/3

I am missing something. Can you do a mockup please?

Looks good. Found another local only 1 away from a Fizzy, but not sure this ranks as a D5 which she needs.

It depends where you are, but I would generally agree a fizzy is not a D5 and as this is easier than that, it would be something lower.

Hope to see it published soon.

I was reading over the guidelines for challenge D ratings. Some said it should include the dt ratings of the required finds. This requires the diagonal so to qualify you need at least 1 5/5, but the 25X fizzy challenge is also a D5. One suggestion was to use the rating from Project GC for difficulty but it has to be published before it gets a number. I was able to find a few people who do not qualify. Of course I can make the hide difficult to justify a higher number.

You can not use the rating from Project GC for difficulty because the guidelines state that
Quote
Challenge cache criteria must come from information broadly available on Geocaching.com and must be verifiable through information on Geocaching.com

The information for the challenge must come from Geocaching.com, but they do not have a rating for challenges. Project GC does assign a number from 1-100 for challenge difficult and this has been suggested as an useful guideline is assigning the D rating.

This thread has not received any further feedback and will therefor be moved to ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed). Should the requester have any queries he can raise his question on this thread in the archived section,
