Re: Checker for GC9HFJF

[Resolved] Checker for GC9HFJF

Hi, first time posting on this forum.

I would like to find/create a challenge checker to support my first challenge cache, GC9HFJF, which requires finding 100 of any one cache type (1x100). I plan to extend the challenge with a series of caches to 2x100, 3x100, 4x100, and 5x100 (5 types to 100 each) which is as far as I have qualified myself. I did find a 5x100 checker for GC4DJWY (which is not linked on the cache page as this is a pre-2016 challenge); https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4DJWY/4723. It seems there might already be some checkers of this type, but I was unable to find any for the 1x100. I have some programming background but don't know Lua and don't think I'd presently be able to modify the GC4DJWY source to do what is required. I would be willing to learn and take on the 2x100...etc. task if someone would be willing to help me out after the 1x100 is created.

Cheers, Cats4us

Here you go: https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9HFJF/63840

Please confirm it is suitable.

Note that that particular script does not provide very good output on a single type requirement, but it does check accurately (I tried "Plofessor" as someone who has more than 100 finds, but not enough of one type). If more than one type is required it will give better output.

Thanks; the checker does seem accurate for pass/fail although the message it provides at the end isn't really as useful as what I think should be displayed.

I tried the following (3) accounts:

4kittens 107/83 (total/trad) - failed (good)
alexddr 229/226 (total/trad) - success (good)
CKoon 184/182 (total/trad) - success (good)

Rather than telling the user they had 107, 229, or 184 caches, it would be more useful to tell them they had 83, 226, and 182 out of the minimum required 100 of a single type. Could the final message be changed to have the (maximum) count of one type rather than the sum total of all types?

I can't change the output of that script. How about this one instead? https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9HFJF/63854

Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much!

It looks like this can be later extended to more types if required for later challenges I plan, as per https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4P2QM/17258

I don't know how to clear the awaiting feedback tag, but as far as this cache checker is concerned, we are done.

I've removed the first one. All done.
