Germany, new county

Germany has a new county since 2026-01-01, it enters Project-GC today.

The new county is Hanau (https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/535895). If I understand it correctly it has been broken out of "Main-Kinzig-Kreis". It's a city that's not it's own "county". They are both in "region" Hessen.

I'll quote one of the users who has reported this:

as of today the city of Hanau (Hesse, Germany) is a “kreisfreie Stadt” and therefore should no longer be assigned to the Main-Kinzig-Kreis in county-based views/statistics but listed as separate county.

Since the beginning of 2026 there's a new County in the Hessen State of Germany.
The city of Hanau has split from the Main-Kinzig-Kreis and is now a separate county.

Updating data might take up to 24 hours or so. It's a lot of geocaches in Germany.
