Usage of other caches tags, without cloning

Usage of other caches tags, without cloning

Hello,

I know that inappropriate tags are being automatically disabled after creation. Examples:

  • tags created for other cache types than Mystery
  • tags created for geocaches that do not have word "Challenge" in their name

There is one additional situation, which we would like to have automatically disabled by script.
As per guidelines, each challenge cache should have its own challenge checker / tag.
New challenge cache cannot use link to challenge checker / tag which belongs to other geocache.

Instead, cache owners should clone what they need. Not always they are doing so and we are looking for way, how can they be automatically nugged to make their own checker / tag.

I think this is the responsibility of the reviewers becauuse the guidelines are very clear on that

see 2.14 of the guidelines

The GC code on the challenge checker must match the GC code of the associated challenge cache page.

If there were to be anything done from the ProjectGC side, it could only be automatic notifications. Disabling the checker would mean that the original challenge no longer has a valid checker, through no fault of that cache's owner.

The automatic disabling of checkers is due to the one-way link from the checker to the cache it's tagged to (which is entirely under ProjectGC's control). The link from the cache to the checker is in the cache description and not as easily checked and much more difficult to influence from ProjectGC's side.

When new challenge cache is published, the system could verify that there is a registered checker for that cache and warn admins if no checker is found. The situation needs consultation with the publishing reviewer.
