Re: GC4VQPK The No Minutes Challenge

[Resolved] GC4VQPK The No Minutes Challenge
March 08, 2020 09:36PM
Hi going through some of my unqualified challenges and several don't have checkers so I thought why not just ask. If a full checker can not be made maybe use the checker as a tool to flag potential qualifiers.

This challenge is very hard now to determine from lists of caches you qualify. It is grandfathered obviously. Right now the only way I can think of figuring this out without a checker is to click on each listing individually. Painful

Thanks for your time

This challenge requires you to find caches on even degree lines of latitude and longitude. To log it as Found, you must have found:

A minimum of 5 caches with even degrees for either latitude or longitude.
At least one of the 5 must have even degrees for both latitude and longitude.
For Mystery caches, fake posted coordinates do not count. Please do not give the coordinates to solved Mystery caches in your log.

The checker system doesn't have access to your solved coordinates, so it can't check for "fake posted coordinates". I'm unsure what this challenge requires (based on the logs of the people who claim they qualify). Must it be on the degree line exactly or can it be anywhere inside an even degree band?

Looking at penman's log

GCJHJ4 The Highest Leaping Waterfall in the World N 37° 45.000 W 119° 35.750
GC44MVZ ? Our First Kiss N 37° 48.000 W 122° 23.658
GC3PBQ2 DC Hidden Memorials #17: Dusk of H Street N 38° 54.000 W 076° 59.325
GC3P3VA Heald Cemetery N 43° 17.000 W 072° 42.223
GC1TY2X HBZ 10K Run: Oak Savannah N 44° 10.000 W 089° 10.000

So XX.000 is needed for four of them either longitude or latitude and one needs to have both XX.000 for longitude and latitude

Looking at my output I'm surprised that I have 2 that qualify. So cool. I do see unknown caches in the list and I see one of that list is a challenge so my vote is keep it in. For multis though usually you go to a location for information, So if a sign is located there I say keep it. What do you think? I don't do wherigos so no input there.

Thanks for you help here!

This one looks great it. I have none :( so used a few previous finders and follows the rules.

Go ahead and release.

Thanks for your time here this one is really hard to figure out qualifications.

Sorry, there was a typo in the config, so there was no limit for allowed types.
Now I've fixed it, please try it now

Can you do a pass with mystery and multi as potential qualifiers.

Your previous run had one challenge cache that would have qualified.

Hello, just seeing this now. I live very near this challenge, and I know the people who published it. The current interpretation of this checker is incorrect. The challenge is to find five caches with either 00.000 minutes in longitude or latitude, including one with both, EXCLUDING posted coordinates of unknown caches. Hard to build the logic for that last part, but the current checker which approves ##.000 is wrong.

Thanks!

I've enabled the mystery, but I leaved disabled the multi and wig (as these have always the final out of the listing coordinates). I've added the note, that you should check manually the mysteries.

Please try it and maybe tell me if the message is ok, sorry, my english is not very good.

Hi
Just had a look at this - I seem to 'qualify' with 261 'suitable' caches - however I am aware that many of these are puzzle caches (not challenges) that have been sited on .000 cords as the original locations not the final
I would have to manually check the list to see if any of these are true qualifiers - however having done that I find there are some Letterbox Hybrids that do not qualify also (they are original co-ords in geoart with finals elsewhere)
Surely if the requirement of the challenge is to find only 5 then removing the Unknowns, LBH, Multi and Wherigo (and of course locationless) would provide a checker that doesnt need further investigation :-)

Yes, this can be an idea.
So, I'll modify it putting the mysteries (the only type that is dubious) to the tail of the list. If the number of not mysteries is enough, the result will be positive. When it is not enough, but the mysteries are enough, I'll put the note to check it manually. And I'll disable the letterboxes and whereigo at all.
