[Resolved] GC91D9M; The Y2K Stash Challenge

Dear checkers legends.

I have one more for my challenge quintet. This one is pretty straight forward - a Jasmer challenge of sorts: The Y2K Stash Challenge. Here is the criteria:

  • Finders to have found at least 5x active caches hidden/ placed in separate months of the year 2000. That is, qualifying caches can only be ones hidden/ placed in any five of the eight months May-December 2000)
  • Two caches found, for example, in July 2000 only count as 1 towards the challenge - ie has to be unique months.
  • Caches can only be/ have been logged while active ie strictly NO archived caches.
To summarise/ simplify: qualification by finding active caches which were placed in at least FIVE SEPARATE months of the year 2000.

If the script out could please list the first five qualifying caches and also mention the total number. For example:

team novo has found 6 of the required number of caches hidden in unique months of 2000 (required number: 5).
Finds are listed here:

# | Cache code | Cache name | country | placed date | found date
1/5 | GC3E | Lane Cove | Australia | 18/05/00 | 13/04/19
2/5 | GCF1 | Frying Pan | Australia | 17/12/00 | 17/12/20
etc

Thank you!

I think this might fall foul of the guidelines.... in particular #13 Find Date. Excluding archived caches means excluding finds people made (when the hide was not archived).

Can I request you get approval from a reviewer first please?

edit: I should point out that we don't know if a finder found a hide before it was archived or after.

edit2: Ummm, I think I may be wrong...completely. Can I ask for another opinion from the moderators please?

Hi GreyHams. It's hide date not found date.

Also, what I mean Re archived caches is that people can't have have found a cache once it was archived ie they had to find the cache WHILST it was active. If a qualifying cache they found is now archived, that is perfectly legit. I only make a point of this because plenty of finders sadly have successfully (and wrongfully) logged caches hidden in this era since they were archived (there are still a few archived oldies that have not been locked or were locked some time after being archived and thus missed a few "cheat" logs). Do you get what I mean?

Cheers!

...so to be clear that third bullet point should read strictly NO logging of archived caches. Sorry for confusion

Here is the link to a checker https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC91D9M/57770

But a checker is not able to detect when cachers are cheating. Even when a cache is active a cacher can log caches which they have not found. Only the CO of that cache can keep an eye on this not a checker.

With the early caches you also face the problem that the actual hidden date is not known and the actual archived date is not recorded hence the problem of the statement "strictly NO logging of archived caches"

It is up to the owner to prove that when a cacher logs the challenge cache is cheating

Are checkers not able to verify whether people have logged archived caches?

The actual archived date is not recorded on the early caches

..oh ok yeah I just pulled up a bunch randomly and now I see what you mean.

When GS locked them they should have date stamped it oh well.

Checker works ok BTW, thanks:
