Check For sufficient Qualifiers
August 19, 2019 01:15PM
Hi,
Just wondering if there is a way to check to see that there are sufficient qualifiers for a challenge we have in mind? .. especially when a lot of cachers have their stats private these days on PGC. Am i right in assuming that there need to be 10 qualifiers in the state where we live to be able to get a Challenge cache published?
Cheers,
Jason

10 qualifiers seems to be the general rule of thumb. The checker system doesn't have any way to tell you how many/who qualifies. My recommendation is to use https://project-gc.com/Statistics/Top to find the people from your state with the most finds (or possibly another tool under Statistics menu if there's one more suitable for the specific challenge) and test the top couple of dozen. If the top finders in your state don't qualify, it's likely that you won't have enough.

Thanks for that. That is how we initially started checking, but it seems there is no easy way.
We will continue checking via that method.

Jason

There is no problem getting a checker created if the challenge complies with current rulings - then that can be used to check your top finders in your area - once you have 10 you should be good to go.

That said having 10 qualifiers already noted does not always mean the challenge will be published
