spreadsheet is updated! Let's see the results produced now by the checker with the new radius'. if there is an "x" in the last column, it's one I changed. NOTE: there are new coords for Val Verde. I think you used the county of Val Verde, but we want the town of Val Verde in Milam county.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
it's ready. You can put this script into production now.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Can you try a test? I have one BM List named State Star GeoArts. 51 caches with Texas in the title, 51 with Louisiana in the title, and 51 with Oklahoma in the title. Success would be 49 finds from any of these 3 states. DrPflug would fail. Czechsun would pass. I think I'd end up with 3 BM Lists. For states with two stars, you'd probably have to check for the CO name for thoseby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
You are right. I just tried my grandson's account and it says Lists are a premium feature.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
so I'm thinking..... of creating a second (non-premium) account and creating the bookmark lists under that account. It might be 30-40 lists. would you be able to just use those lists for the purpose of this checker?by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
It looks excellent. Now that the CO has seen the script, he loves it and really wants it to be definitive. But he thinks it needs to be more forgiving in many cases. Namely, 1. For the smaller towns with sparse caches I'd like to default to 10 miles. Very charitable. 2. For the smaller towns with dense caches -- like suburbs -- I'd like the radius to be at least large enough toby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
only do it if it's easy. Its not had a checker since the beginning and keeping track of how many stars you've done is not that hard. so skip my request unless you figure out an easy way to do it.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
https://coord.info/GC5E0YX in reading the challenge requirements and looking at the various state stars, many were not created by owner "50 State Star". and there are all kinds of variations on the names of the caches in the state stars. BUT I could easily put together x number of bookmark lists, one list for each star. the bookmark lists would have 50, 51 or 52 caches and some sby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
https://coord.info/GC38YNJ This should be an easy one to create. 5 different caches type finds within any 5 day period in each of 5 states: Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. so 25 finds total. Approved cache types for this challenge: Traditional, Multi, Mystery, Virtual, Earthcache, Letterbox, WhereIgo, GPS Adventures Exhibit. look great. thanks for this.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
any idea when the four missing polygons will get loaded? Maybe Monday?by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I don't anticipate making additional changes.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
That is pretty much what I wanted. It looks great. You can put this one into production.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
looks better. I'm back up to the 11 cities I had before.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Minor thing I noticed. The first table of the results, the first column heading says "Metopolitan Area", but it should say "City".by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I had some time so I copied the 31 different lat, lon center points from OSM into that google spreadsheet you provided me earlier for the I've Been Everywhere Challenge. 10 mile radius for each AND the the cache must be in the same county. If possible when displaying results, can the checker show the cache closest to the center point AND its distance from the center point ?by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I am good with the center point nodes from OSM. If you have an easy way to query for them, please do.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
something is wrong with Fort Worth, TX. The checker says I have no finds but I have many. here is one. https://coord.info/GC2AF5 Fort Worth does not appear on the map either, so for some reason it may be not be checking it. Also, the other day, it said I had finds in 11 cities, and now it says 8. so maybe it's skipping two other cities now. I will try to see if I can determineby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
https://coord.info/GC31KZR - Around the World Texas Style This one is pretty straightforward. I will accept any cache within a 10 mile same-county radius. so within 10 miles of the city center point and within the same county. Of the 30 listed cities, only London has two possibilities. I adopted this cache today.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
There are 15 finds on this Challenge and 14 of them Qualify using the Metro list. The one that doesn't is "no muggle". when the 4 missing cities are added to the city list, we'll see if he qualifed using the city list or if he just made a mistake and didn't qualify via either option.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I will check with the CO but I'm 99.999 percent certain he'd be fine with counting a find in any of the city "holes" as a find for that city. Surrounded on all sides by the city is good to count for that city I would think. Not counting it would REALLY be confusing. NOTE: I'll bet that everyone who claimed a find of this challenge qualifies by using the Metro reqions,by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Made the radius for Waco = 4. For the two non-existing towns Angelina and Alameda, the radius is now 6 because they are really not close to anything. Changes noted in the spreadsheet.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Hi, any progress on this or is there a problem with the polygons for the 25 cities?by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Great, I just got some coords for the town of Angelina (#66). New coords and radius are in the spreadsheet. also Changed Waco (#1) to 5 miles. Question, are the coords you are using what OSM considers the center point for the town? I think we may need to play around with the size of the radius for some towns (e.g. Houston, Austin) to make sure it includes the whole polygon. Are you awarby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
sounds reasonable. The only large city in the list is Austin. Let me know if you need me to do any grunt work.by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
well, I doubt that will happen here. The CO Indigo Parish has been very forgiving on cities as this Challenge is "fuzzy" in a lot of ways. I look at the challenge checker here as more of an aid on seeing what cities I have left to complete. But I understand your concern. I've never seen it myself, but I'm sure it happens. Would you be willing to just make it non-by DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)

I have already reached out to the CO. He is from this area and is still active. He thinks the checker would be a good tool for folks to use to see where they stand..... but not the final determining factor on whether one could claim a smiley. ..... he would allow exceptions due to factors as to lack of caches in a given area.... or the checker says I didn't find one in Hico but I foundby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
https://coord.info/GC1G0CX so this challenge requires a find in 91 different Texas towns. see below the dotted line for the data I have on these towns. 1. if the name of the town is followed by a number, that number is the OSM relation-id and can be used to create a polygon for that town. e.g., 01. Waco 113870 2. Hamlets and Villages do not have polygons, just nodes, and I have incluby DrPflug - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
