Hi Regarding the original request - it has been noted that the output result can be confusing and reads simply as 'you have found caches on 365 days' - this challenge required each of these days to have the parking attribute found but there is no mention of this attribute in the output. Can the output script read similar to 'you have found caches with the parking attribute on 36by Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
OK I have had a discussion with the CO and he has now added to the cache page the challenge criteria that were originally found on a linked .pdf This means there is no issue with this cache being a challenge cache - currently it stands as having a mixed vote and I feel that this should be re-considered by those that have downvoted Timby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
"This is a test forum. Feel free to write whatever none abusive you can think about here. The forum will be removed once we feel the testing is done." Is testing complete ;-) ??by Deepdiggingmole - Test Forum
It is evident reading the log by the CO that the challenge itself was restrictive and one line "It was brought to the reviewers attention that according to the rules, we would need to count caches that were previously found prior to our cache being published" - that is interesting as back in 2012 I did not think that that was the case - several challenges I had completed If I recall corby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
This proved an interesting one On first inspection it does look like a glorified multi and no criteria - certainly there is no criteria given on the cache page, though reference to them made. However I did find deep in one of the links given requirements to fulfil, namely finding 10 caches linked to alien activity (description is much wordier than that) For me this did mean that all the elemeby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
I do what I can to help get things rectified - about 4 of the ones on the list have changed the cache name and added 'challenge' :-) Timby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Just a point of note - does the word challenge have to be in English ? Neues Attribut - Herausforderung - has this in German and Multikuntahaaste - Kulta - has it in Finnish but I thought it had to be in English Timby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Hi A whole bunch of caches have been added to the exception list About 2 dozen of these ARE challenge caches But they would not be in dispute They are challenges, they have checkers, they have the word challenge in the title Several of them were published in the last year So why would we need to vote on them ? Surely we should not be adding challenge caches that are not borderline ?by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
OK New one has been added - I am sitting on the fence with this one The word Challenge not mentioned in the title and no indication that this is a challenge cache in the description. Despite there being a request to find a cache on the monopoly board - there is no statement to say that this is a requirement in order to claim the find - and reading many of the logs few have actually indicated wby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Reading the guidelines that were given to moderators and are noted in the wiki page regarding how we view the cache before voting - "Note that your vote shall not be based on today's Challenge guidelines but rather on the fact that the Geocache requires you to do something before/when logging it. You shall not take into consideration if it's a good challenge or not, neither if youby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
I agree, I was second to vote, easy to tell if you toggle up and down votes, and it had been added on with an upvote. I know sometimes the system doesn't allow a new cache on the list with a downvote, so wondered if this was an error. That said it shouldn't have been added on the first placeby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
The above is a new cache on the exception list - I am one of the first to vote and noted it has been given an up vote ?? This is a bonus to a series of caches - not a challenge - it hasn't got the challenge cache icon - challenge isn't in the title Was this a mistake ?by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
New on the exception list - went on there as it had the challenge attribute I now note that this has been removed - typical LOL Timby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
I can see that this would be the reason for downvotes - but as has been said before we should be looking at these things in black and white - this challenge is all around the names of the challenges (like the others) The fact that there is criteria as required for challenge caches - in this case find 20 caches - should be all that we look at. IMHOby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
A new cache that has appeared on the checker list - however it is obviously splitting the vote so I thought I would throw this in the mix for discussion :- My thoughts on this one are :- This 'challenge' requires you to find 20 (or more) caches The cache is pre-moratorium so not bounded by the current guidelines (checker not required) so - it is an unknown and it has challenge iby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
So does our voting this up means it'll get added back onto the system ? and does this mean we'll have to do this for all challenges that end up missing the challenge cache attribute ? thanksby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Why was this put on the exception list ? There is no question that this is a challenge cache - it has the word challenge in the title and has criteria and recognised as being one as it appears in challenge lists under the tab ? H'mby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
@Vogelbird - I am aware that all 3 of these have other caches linked - however not all are specifically the COs caches, and although bonus is used there is criteria - as was mentioned with Week challenge in another thread - though the CO has a series linked you could qualify without finding any of his. also for me a bonus cache relies on you getting information from the feeder caches - such asby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Some new ones on the list - have a split views What confuses the issue is ALL of these have the word Bonus in the title My thoughts are :- GC1HM9D - USCGA L.E.G. Challenge Bonus Cache - it says in the description "In order to claim a find on this cache, you must complete the following challenge. You need to find a *qualifying* cache in each of the ten counties in the Upstate. In ordby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
@sumbloke - yea no arguments there - but it then goes onto say (in the same section you quoted 'source of criteria') "must be verifiable through information on Geocaching.com" - I am trying to find where I can view that information (about attributes) on geocaching.com or have I misunderstood 'must be verifiable through information on Geocaching.com' thanksby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
@Foolie Not the answer I am looking for As I said in my original message I know where these can be found in PGC - its finding them on the GC site I am struggling with !!!!by Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
I am looking to doing an attribute challenge - however I am struggling to see where on the GC site you can access the information to show how many of each attribute you have (I know where to look on PGC) - what am I missing ? cheersby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
Quote "IMHO a NA-log explaining why you feel it's against the guidelines so that a reviewer can take a look would be better. And that faulty challenges are archived and locked would probably be a better solution for challenges that should have not been published" - yes, that only get the cache archived and is something separate from this group - but that cache will still appear onby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
@Plue - no problem However it raises an interesting point particularly around those that do not follow the current guidelines (and yet get published) I am aware of several that slipped through the reviewer net and got published - However, yes to all intents and purposes they would be called challenges as they have criteria etc etc. but in upvoting these - doesn't this mean they will end upby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
@Pleu This is why I asked, and opinions around this sort of thing are what is needed in order that the exception checkers (is that what we are called now, as opposed to moderators) can discuss the borderline challengesby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Ok a new one just added. I looked at it and am if two minds There is criteria for qualifying, and I know this is pre moratorium, but it does appear that it is a bonus cache to a series of caches if the same name 'week streak' and the 'challenge' is to find 10 challenges with the word 'week' in the title, so in essence find 10 of my other caches and you'll get tby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Thank youby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Yes, thank you, I have just had another look and that it is due to the presence of the attribute. Seems a bit harsh to put a NA on a cache just because it has the wrong attribute, and it was inevitable that COs added it incorrectly, so a difficult one to answer. The number of small (12 caches) trails I have seen now with the power trail attribute is laughableby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
I too had upvoted initially as I had read this as caches had to be found in order for you to be able to list your top 10 favorite. However on reflection, I now agree that that is not a challenge as such, there is no 'goal' to achieve, no quantity of caches to find of any specific type, etc etc So for me I am now down voting Good to see discussion like thisby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
