Do mega's and Giga's count as events?by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
So after some more thinking, there might be an argument that makes sense to you. It discourages CO's from using attributes. On the flip side, attributes are supposed to be pretty cut and dry. If special equipment is needed, T5. If the equipment has an attribute, then select it.by sloth96 - Script development
This certainly seems like a different take on the negative rule. Fizzy doesn't reward DT's you already found. Jasmer doesn't reward months you already found. Collect attributes doesn't reward attributes you already found. There have been comments in the community that the Attributes may not have been checked as closely say DT's and therefore are not reliable forby sloth96 - Script development
I could not find an existing script that supports it.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I cannot speak on the history of this. However having all of these preloaded seems like a good idea in the event they are legacy or future proofing. ( I don't think there are legacy.) It seems like easy insurance against a Y2K like problems. The lack of attribute 16 (Cactus nearby) seems like a bigger issue as there is still an active cache with it and and people have found it.by sloth96 - Script development
Please check this out. https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9FBW2/62766 Feedback is appreciated.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Reach out directly to JALSB who tagged it. They cam edit it. Otherwise we cam create and alternative checker and get that one disabled.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
The checker appears to only count events and citos. It does not include community celebration, megas or gigas. The CO would be the one to say if that is a misinterpretation of the cache page.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Can it go smaller than countries to better handle the parts of Spain in Africa, the parts of Russia and Turkey that straddle Europe and Asia and any other odd bits?by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
That cache does not appear to have published.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Apologies for crosspost. my checker is disabled.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Here is the checker. https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9F737/62697 It looks like you have should have no problem with finding people who qualify. https://project-gc.com/Statistics/TopCountyFinders?profile_country=United+States&profile_region=Kentucky&country=United+States®ion=Kentucky&submit=Filter Good luck.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
You may also put qualifying caches into a Virtual GPS and use that as a filter. Not all the statistics tools accept custom filters.by sloth96 - Miscellaneous
Hello all. SeekerSupreme's great macro is great and speedy. However I was trying to use it in a cut and paste fashion from another tag. It included the following in the tag: "what":"country_region hidden_year cache_name visitdate" While this creates a nice pretty print with the cache name and visit date in the output, it also brought problems. The script checby sloth96 - Script development
Howdy, I reviewed the source code and noticed that visit date and cache name was going through the checker engine. Taking out those fields sped things up significantly for you. The output is more terse. The runtime speedup is significant. The original checker should be fine for you now.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Howdy, I reset the checker for 22 and it does timeout for you. The earlier link still works. An update of that script with a longer time out is here. https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9F8F4/62686 It still times out for you.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Folks are still trying to find a continuity graph that is acceptable to HQ. So this probably goes on the back burner.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
Here is a quick attempt. https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9F8F4/62684 21 Caches in 21 years in 21 different areas. The Canadian territories were already in the old version. I think I got all the US territories as several are separate countries in geocaching speak.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Please check out https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9F1ME/62680 I am not sure it is using the correct electoral college. I copies from another script.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Quick thing. When you write this up, you might want to specify the year the election is run. The electoral college distribution changes every 10 years with the Census and specifying the "current" will create a maintenance issue for the script.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Howdy, I maintain a couple of variation on Jasmer checkers and am thinking of adding a check to see if they are found already. With this information the checker could override the end date and get rid of the long list of people who "do not meet the requirements" because they found it ages ago. The snippet I am thinking of adding to mine looks like: --deal with already foundby sloth96 - Script development
Would it have been easier to use Generic County checker with a filter set for the counties and a limit of 25?by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
This seems to be a violation of the custom location rule Challenges based on geographic areas other than countries, states/provinces, counties (or their local equivalent). Examples: user-defined mapping polygons, latitude/longitude, radius, etc. Look under Guideline 10. Sorry.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
If this was disassociated from the badge and merely read have your first find more than 10 years ago, would it be acceptable?by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
So I have been kicking the tired on this version of GetOldestCaches. It appears to work generally ok. Sometimes it does appear to return more caches than the limit. Functionally this does not seem to matter for me. However I am moderately concerned this has a performance impact. A sample script is here https://project-gc.com/Challenges//62550 Thanksby sloth96 - Method requests
Local to me there are some jasmers for Massachusetts and New Hampshire called month-by-month challenges. These are basically Jasmer challenges except only for a smaller area. The checkers for these include the calibration for months not in available. As this could change over time, it seemed appropriate to find away around it. Examples below show this. Right now it only works for single Jasmeby sloth96 - Script development
So thinking a bit philosophically, there is nothing to keep someone from putting up another "questionable" series somewhere in Sweden or anyplace else. Once the challenge is created all the rules to create an "easy" path to it are available and therefore easier to create. This just seems like an escalating arms race. Other challenges have seen this before. My guess is tby sloth96 - Script development
There appears to be different mapping layers on the geocaching maps that show county lines. OpenStreetMap Default, OpenStreetMap German Style, OpenStreetMap Black and White, and ESRI NatGeoWorldMap all appear to have county lines available. (If your instance does not have them try changing the browser as Edge, Chrome, and Firefox all appear to have different layers available.) The map I am usinby sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
This is the sort of checker I am experimenting with. There are certainly optimizations to be made to this one to reduce the number of calls but the functionality is basically there. https://project-gc.com/Challenges//62459by sloth96 - Method requests
