Howdy, Seeing this languish, I decided to take a moment and take a stab at it. http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC3N7V4/24996 It tries to exclude any region that is "". It also explicitly excludes location less caches. It does take a stab at all the configurations. It is configured only for US and canada. Downsides are the output and reporting are low.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Please check out if this checker is acceptable. It is based on a Jasmer checker and reports all months but can be configured for once per year. http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC70554/24995 Oops, I had to extend an existing script. Thank GentlePurpleRain for the heavy lifting. Feedback appreciated.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)

Good luck with the reviewer. I hope to get the map fixed.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Does the GSAK macro referenced on the cache page really agree with the requirements? things such as parenthesis and the pound sign seem to count pass it.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
Hello, I grabbed the list of countries in Europe from http://project-gc.com/forum/read?8,3588,3624#msg-3624 The checker is at: http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6XX0D/24979 The map is vestigial as I am having trouble getting the polygon data for the countries. The other checkers use undocumented calls. Thank Vogelbird for the JSON data. Feedback is appreciated.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
The oldest N in {Country,Region,County} checkers now all run faster thanks to this and the 1000 cache fetch limit. They also work fine with the new api calls. Actually the oldest in N counties did not exist before this. Thank you very much.by sloth96 - Method requests
Awesome. Allowing for capitalizaton and proper quoting and the existence of the counties, you understood. I will kick the tires this weekend.by sloth96 - Method requests
Thanks for highlighting the min date filter. Just to make sure we are on the same page, your example is great. There also is the use case country=["united states","canada","mexico"] that I would like to work. Would I be asking too much for country=, region=massachusetts, county=? The last one I know is scope creep but it rounds out the set.by sloth96 - Method requests
I have good news and I have bad news. The Good news is has many faces. First, this request has has been sitting here for a while and things have been ok. It can wait a little longer. Second, looking at the oldest caches with a limit of 1000 and the other changes made in the other thread has made most of the speedup hoped for by this not needed for existing checkers. We are down from 180 secondby sloth96 - Method requests
Don't get stressed on my account. Glad for the fix.by sloth96 - Method requests
http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6K9P6/23464 does not even run. It is the dreaded silent death. I created http://project-gc.com/Challenges//24954 which is the same tag and only does GetOldest queries with either empty or arrays and that dies silently as well. These both work on regions. I have not looked at countries.by sloth96 - Method requests
Mapping should be fixed. Please advise.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I tried getting this working with using region as an array. It did not work for me. Using just a single string worked fine. Maybe I am missing something.by sloth96 - Method requests
Check out http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC70MG0/24948 http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC70MFF/24947 http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC70MEV/24946 You asked for 4 and I only saw 3. What did I miss?by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Thanks. The mapping is a known issue. If you can point me to a macro that does it better, I can incorporate their approach.by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Excellent. I am fine with the limit not increasing. Just for clarity, I thought the new approach was around 1000 depending on date distribution.by sloth96 - Method requests
Given the recent speedup in getoldest this may no longer be required. It would still allow some processing to make fewer calls but my scripts are much farther away from from timing out and resources may be best spent elsewhere.by sloth96 - Method requests
ITS6 is there any information you still need?by sloth96 - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Those column based databases seem to do wonders. I had never worked with any. You have addressed all my scripts so I foresee no problems. Thanks for the speedup. I will worry less about nasty grams from the server admins and cachers who are experiencing timeouts.by sloth96 - Checker news
Outline for the existing approach for regions goes something like this: Get all finds in the relevant area (USA) Extract list of regions from finds needed to score the finds No need to expend resources where the cacher has not not cached. Get the oldest caches in the USA. (This will contain some number of states oldest caches. More than one.) Mingo, GC12, Beverly, The spot,by sloth96 - Checker news
Just a couple of other variants for your benchmarking pleasure. http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6K6ZV/21974 Run with RetiredGuy or some other world traveller. It does a search over oldest by countries. http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6JF6T/23191 No recommendation. It does a search over oldest by type. But only in a small part of the world.by sloth96 - Checker news
Btw, I hope this was the sort of feedback you were seeking. Part of me feels that I am whining when there are bigger fish to fry.by sloth96 - Checker news
I am not sure what you mean by extremely more straight forward. Are you saying it needs more comments? The code is somewhat convoluted to try to get the runtime down. It has been a while since I wrote it so I don't remember all the nastiness at the time. It took a few tries to speed it up to where it is. Timeouts were quite common.Frankly I expected a nasty gram that the checker was tooby sloth96 - Checker news
http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6K9P6/23464 This might timeout excessively with the new get oldest. My username sloth96 or RetiredGuy shoukd take a while.by sloth96 - Checker news
It is not urgent. It is more of a performance enhancement than functuonality. Fewer timeouts are better. If this helps great.by sloth96 - Method requests
I don't see an obvious problem with that. The checkers I wrote should just loop through the data provided. That bump from 100 to 1000ish may also help performance in some of my scripts. It will pull in more regions and or countries and keep me from looping as much to get more regions. The nagging question is does this impact speed negatively. Some of my scripts are on the edge of tby sloth96 - Checker news
