I searched for an answer to this but didn't find it so here I am.

It seems that filtering by type of cache on the live map (by selecting or deselecting the icons on the filter tab and hitting "Apply") does nothing.
The other filters, like favorite points or own/found caches work just fine.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I tried this both on Chrome and Firefox, both on Linux and Android. The behavior is exactly the same.
I have a premium membership at geocaching.com, no membership here.
Thanks for the help.

It works for me on latest chrome and FF in Windows 10 and chrome in android.
It might be a paying member feature on pgc.
Thanks for the comment.
As far as I understood it should not be a premium feature.

Can anyone who's not a member here confirm this please?
If you're trying it on Chrome, can you open up the Console (through F12) and check that there's nothing showing up there?
I'm not sure if it is relevant, but in the Chrome Console I get two errors related to the Google Maps API:

NoApiKeys
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys

SensorNotRequired https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#sensor-not-required

That's all.

Thanks for checking that.
I tried it on both Firefox and two different versions of Chrome on two different versions of Ubuntu Linux. I tried using incognito mode and deactivating all extensions. Then I tried it on Chrome for Android, on two different Android devices (one on Lollipop, one on Marshmallow).
No luck :(
Do you have an idea of what else I could test?
i dont know where problem can be hidden, sorry :( i just checked it and in my PC filtering is working. tested on w7 with opera, new opera, firefox and chrome and also same browsers on w10 pro
Thanks. It's really weird.
