Why do I get different "counties found" count in two different places on Project-GC?

Top County Finders says 2026.

My Profile stats - Maps - US counties says 2023.

I just threw together a "checker" script to list the counties for a cacher and the 2026 looks to be the correct number for you. I'm not sure why the map is giving a lower number.

Did you log three new counties just now? The profile stats pages are only generated daily (if you are a paying member; weekly otherwise) while the rest of the pages show what's in the database at each given time. Thus there may be a window when the site knows about your latest finds but your profile stats still aren't old enough to be regenerated and are therefore somewhat out of date.

Another option could be that you have three counties where your only find is a travelling cache or something like that and that the profile stats page map has an exception for that (such caches are not counted in some stats) while the top counties page doesn't.

The non-checker script I threw together says that the latest new counties were logged on 25 August. I didn't think of travelling caches, though.
Yep, looks like moving caches are likely to be the issue:
Utah MOVING Cache #1 (GCA87C)
Utah MOVING Cache #2 (GCB598)
Utah MOVING Cache #3 (GCDB76)
...seem to be the only finds in those particular counties at the moment.

As sumbloke indicate. Not all geocaches are included in Profile stats by default, that is traveling and antipode geocaches. That can be changed by clicking the Profile stats settings.
