The mere length of a cache log is no true evidence for a writer's badge grant, as it is easy to write once a long blog and to re-paste it as identical logbook entry again and again during a day’s log tour. All the more, some apps ease such behaviour by functions such as „repeat last log entry“.

Hence what about a badge named e.g. “The individual author“ with showing the average word length per log divided by log similiarity? This may encourage loggers to write what they really have experienced during each cache tour instead of pasting standard blogger blah.

As usual with suggestions for new badges: Project-GC only implements badges as they are in the GSAK version of BadgeGen (http://www.badgegen.com). If you have suggestions for new badges, talk the author of GSAK BadgeGen into adding it and we will try to make a similar implementation here as well.

Pinkunicorn is correct, and shows that this would probably NOT get implemented, as the GSAK BadgeGen macro itself would have to establish log similarity, which means it would have to have access to all past logs - not just the find stats. One of the problems with GSAK is there is no guarantee that any log in GSAK actually matches the actual on-line log.

If it doesn't get implemented in GSAK, it will not get implemented in PGC.

However PGC could implement a "Story rating" as a single statistic on the find stats tab of Profile Stats that credit this. This can then be stat compared to others or graphed, similar to Top finders. come to think of it, this would effectively supersede the log similarity ranking.

I like this idea!

The main obstacle is indeed mentioned on BadgeGen (http://www.badgegen.com): this badge would be a ratio, and ratios change. Since badges represent "achievements" it should be relatively impossible to lose a badge while changing logging behaviour may quickly lead to a lower value. To avoid this, a ratio badge would have to be handled similar to a military brevet rank where one may be currently ranked lower but the once achieved rank is maintained. This, however, would thwart the intended goal.
Your idea of a "Story rating" as a single statistic sounds more promising. Could you please explain how it would be accomplished?
Hi Heinfred.
Use exactly the same math as you suggested, which rewards longer and more unique logs. Change the name to something more fitting as a statistic (The Individual Author is a good name for a BadgeGen badge but not so much for the Find stats). I suggest "Story Rating". Present the statistic at the very bottom of Statistics > Profile Stats > Finds > Some Numbers section, with the explanatory comment "(average word length divided by log similarity)".

Add it to the list of figures compared in Statistics > Stat Compare.
Create a new statistic graph Statistics > Find Stats >Top story tellers.

I like the idea, since I am myself one of those people, who write endless and individual logs (for me that's a part of the game, to tell stories). But I suppose it will cost too much calculation time, since the logs have to be parsed instead of just word count.

(just my humble opinion)

Love the idea also. Personally, when I log a serie of caches, I always write a first paragraph that will be similar to the entire serie of caches. And, for each caches logged, I add one or more paragraphs dedicated to the cache itself. So, on the field, I take a notebook, to write some hints to help log afterwards.

EXACTLY what I do too!
