Sometimes angry or sad about late beginning to do Geocaching

Question

Sometimes I´m angry or sad about my very late start of doing Geocaching.

Before starting to play the game in 2015 I was at different nice places and in different beautiful countries all over the world.

I was there and now I haven´t any Country-Badges or Founds from there. And I love statistics. ^^

You know what I mean?

Do you have the same "problems"?

Yes! I believe we all have the same problem!
But this should not be a major regret compared to the day we have decided to become a Geocacher.

I registered in 2011, but I was hunting active after 2015, because I met other geocachers only in 2015.

Over the years I have been to a lot of cool places and different countries and since I was not a geocacher I don't have those finds or country souvenirs. Thankfully, it gives me reason to return to some of those places and explore them with a new perspective.

I'll be taking a trip next summer to a couple of states and places I've been to before, but since I did not geocache when I first visited those states, I'm excited about getting some finds and getting those state souvenirs. I'm already excited for that trip, but now the planning is that much more fun.

I started the Geocaching in summer 2015 I found my first 100 caches without a gps. I never go anywhere without grabbing a cache. I have revisited numerous places just to grab caches missed before I started to play the game. Long live adventure.

I also started caching in 2015 and sometimes I feel like I've missed out on some opportunities when I talk to "older" cachers who have been able to do certain caches or challenges that are now either no longer available or are much harder to do because of changes in terrain, etc. There are also places I've visited that I will never be able to visit again. But life is full of such things; one can either choose to live with regrets or look ahead to new adventures.

I felt this way when we started in 2007, even though I'd heard of geocaching back in 2001 or so and hadn't felt motivated to try it.
 
I missed the opportunity to seek caches in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Qatar, and Oman, including the oldest cache in Iraq, GCGXJB, which I was literally standing 10' or 3 meters from at one point.  These are not opportunities I really want to repeat, though, so that ship has sailed.

I've revisited and cached in all the countries I want to revisit that I'd been to before geocaching: Czechia, Ireland, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Hungary, and Malta.  So look at it as a great excuse to go back.  :D

I have an account from 2007 on, but i never did anything whit it.
Now i am an active "beginer" of Geocaching and i love the badges we can earn and i am sad also that i haven't start earlier to be an active member.
I love stats also

Yes, I also have the same problem. with geocatching I started in 2014.

Before that, I have visited most of the European countries, the USA, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, South Africa, Egypt, China, Vietnam, New Zealand, Australia, Cuba... it is a pity that at that time geocaching still did not work or I did not have a device on which I ran him ...

I hear you - I only started late last year, which means I missed out on the few years I spent travelling all across Australia and New Zealand for work. My states and LGA's would be off the chart for both countries, and I would've had a great reason to get out and about in the areas I travelled to. Fortunately my one and only overseas holiday was to Thailand for my honeymoon and a couple of months ago we took the kids there. Not to the same place, but we still have some caches there nonetheless.

I know exactly what you mean!!!!! I started geocaching in 2015... Just before that i had moved to egypt for a year(from canada). I have been to many countreys like Australia, austria, turkey, kenya, U.S.A (a few different states), peru, malasia, since 2015 i've been stuck within Ontario and Quebec. I to love statistics and get mad/sad whenever I think about how many caches i could have found in those beautiful countreys i've been to. I'm glad that there are people out there that understand me.

Je comprends mille fois ce que tu resents... Je me suis inscrit en 2016 mais ai commencé à jouer fin 2018. Entre temps j'ai changé de travail et je ne voyage plus (mais ça devrait revenir). Combien de soirées ou de nuits blanches ai-je passées en Chine, Corée, Australie, Nouvelle-Zélande, Thaïlande, Japo et une grande partie de l'Europe... Ça me donnera une motivation de plus de retourner dans ces pays ! (Mais j'ai peur d'être alors devenu trop GeoCaching focussed...)...

We feel the same.

We already did some of the countries a second time. But some countries are "lost". Think we never will do them again.

So these Country flags are just for "imagine" - knowing we were there and seen the land (but missed the caches).
