It would be great to be able to create a new VGPS list from the main toolbar so that I would not have to inturupt the query I am building to create a new list before continuing what I was doing.

Or maybe a Save to New VGPS list and then you have to go to vGPS to rename it to what you want later.  You could add some logic to the naming... "From Map Compare VPGS on 2018-02-11" for example.

Isn't that already possible by opening the vgps page in another browser tab and do the changes there?

I confirm answer from bfiu

Just open a new tab in Chrome or Internet explorer by a right click on the current vGPS, create or switch to the right vGPS in this page. Come back to the preceding page and even the vGPS label is not shown data will be added to the last selected. (yes, not really what you select is what you see, but it's a workaround when you have a query on the fire.
