Could we get the night owl badge on project gc?

How about an option, where we can manually set the Caches for which the Night Owl is awarded? For GSAK it is possible in this way via notes.

Maybe for PGC we could set a Bookmark list, like it is still implemented for the FTFs.

From my point of view this would be a good solution - as long as the "Night Owl" will not be implemented in the "belt calculation" (which is the actual situation ;) ). ... Why? Because, it could be manipulated by the players. .... Yes - it would be "just" one point, but hey - that's exactly what a "few" players are behind, aren't they? ;)

I see the technical issues of the GC.com API. However, I also see the community here which would be able and possibly willing to compile a list of night caches, which would also be very useful for a public directory/map. There are a few local projects to provide such a map, but none of them is universal. Seeing the large benefit of such a directory and the nice addition to the badges, and compared to having challenge checkers programmed by volunteers this is a minor task. I would definitely volunteer!

The link will tell you this:

BadgeGen - Missing badges

Our implementation of BadgeGen is not identical to the original, which was implemented for FindStatGen, for GSAK. Our version has been implemented as close as possible, and with permissions from the Author of BadgeGen.

We are currently missing 4 badges. The first two we are missing are The Waymarker and The Benchmarker. This data is not provided via the Groundspeak API, and we can therefore not implement them. Also, they aren't really about geocaching.

Then we are also missing the badges The Scuba-Cacher and The Night-Owl. These can not be automatically calculated. We have been strictly told by the author of BadgeGen that we can not use the cache attributes to determine these. Therefore, there is currently no technical solution to solve these badges.

Night owl is not about finding night caches (eg caches with the night cache attribute set). The Night owl is about finding ANY cache at night. We could tag something in the log saying we found it at night, but that will not identify up night owl caches for other people.

Similar problem with scuba cacher badge.

I don't agree - see the badgegen website - The Night-Owl (awarded for finding night caches).

Finding night caches not finding caches at night.

Just like the scuba badge is finding caches that require you to dive - not caches you find while wearing scuba gear :) - Just a joke
Rechecked Badgegen - Yes, correct. Therefore there is no problem with PGC implementing a night owl badge. Already we assign badges based on opinions of the cache owner (such as Finding Large Caches - it is the cache owner that decides if this is large) so night owl could be solely implemented based on the night cache attribute.
Alas there is no attribute for "cache is under water"

The ideal way would be to use the attribute. Not sure why it can't be used.

we have one problem in that some events have the night attribute because they were held after sunset. In my view this is incorrect but events could easily be excluded.

The reason for not using the attribute is that there are several attributes that are suitable for night caches and they are used very inconsistently.
