Hi there,

first of all I want to thank everyone who spends time and efford to create a challengechecker. From my point of view this is really helpful for a lot of specific challenges!

But at the risk of making myself unpopular: it seems to me, that such a nice tool leads to an "explosion" of new and unfortunately very often boring challenges. Is this view shared by others as well?

Hi there, just to point it out out a bit more .... It's obvious, that caches could be ignored ;) - but that wasn't the question.

I am asking if the view is shared, that the checkers leads to more challenge caches, and it seems, that you think, that this is not the case. :)   That's all, what I wanted to know.

I don't think that challenge checkers drive challenges, to begin with.

That said, I think that challenges are developing quite a bit. Sweden seems to be one of the countries that has most challenges and has had so for quite some time. Looking at old and new challenges I think that the proportion of boring ones was larger a few years ago than before. Current challenges are somewhat more creative, I feel (on average; there are of course still boring ones published as well). I suspect that the same kind of development will happen in any place, but if you are in a country that still only has a few challenges you may be on an early part of that curve.

I think it exploded already, with no impact of checkers  laugh

When I first saw a map of all caches with "Challenge" in the title about a month ago, I almost fallen from my chair. WOW .. how many thousands?? ... they are still quite rare here where I cache. 17 in my country.

It's still just a game and it should not cause any harm to anyone, even when their count boost triple times. Why? Everyone can decide simply to ignore them, if he/she does not like them.

Yes! I think that many of them are boring. I think that many of them are .. stupid. But it does not matter, when someone else enjoyes them. More and more I'm caching for high-FP% only.

I fully agree with Rikitan.
It's only a game and everyone plays to his own taste.

During 2013, there were more than 125% more challenges released in Sweden than during 2012. That's a huge increase, more than doubled. Thankfully, 2014 will end up at the same rate as 2013.

This has ended up with a lot of (imo) bad and boring challenges.

I truly don't think the checker system will make cache owners hide more challenges. Maybe even the other way around. Instead it might open up possibilites to create challenges that were more or less impossible to check before, and actually make a lot of (again, imo) sucky challenges into something that works.

Different strokes for different folks. If you like them, do them. If you don't, ignore them.
