EN: The TO was asking how to contact a CO who has not been active for 2 years and does not reply to messages. I answered that in this case it is likely that the CO in question does not play geocaching anymore (or, in the worst case, has died). I explained that there are two ways how to contact a CO, either by messaging via geocaching or by email (via the profile), but that under the given circumstances it was unlikely that the CO would reply anymore.

Therefore there are two possibilities:

1) Putting a "needs maintenance" note. Like this the CO receives a message and after some time a reviewer will put the cache on "temporarily disabled" with a warning that the cache will be archived if maintenance is not done. If that’s not the case the cache will be archived and the TO will be free to put a new cache in that place.

2) If it’s an interesting cache or with historical value and the TO would not want it to be archived, he could do maintenance himself. I explained that normally this is exluded as it is the personal right and duty of the CO to maintain his/her caches, but if the CO really is not active anymore one could make an exception.

Not all Needs Maintenance (NM) logs get the attention of the reviewer straight away and will not always get reviewer attention - I tend to put a NM log and then review after a few weeks - if no action (which is likely in this case) then I put a NA  log (Needs Archved) - this will always get reviewer attention
Seems to depend on where you live. Here in Belgium a cache with a NM log will not survive for long if you don’t do maintenance rather quickly.
Muchas gracias, me ayuda bastante
