Hi all,

I'm liking the look of the new tool for determining which sectors you have/don't have, but I have 2 queries about it.

Firstly, on my map it doesn't show me any actual caches that I could go and try to find in spite of having the for incomplete sectors show 'not found' tab clicked.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Or am I doing something wrong?

Secondly, is there a limit on physical distance for which this tool will work? Or is there a distance limit for qualifications for this badge?

I ask as I will be going abroad to the other side of the planet (Corona Virus notwithstanding) in a few months time and it might be the only chance I get to fulfill some sectors as I live on the coast of North Island, New Zealand.

I can see the sectors projected into Australia, but nothing is showing when I look at the map to the UK.

Cheers.

Thanks in advance.

Impressive!  I found the tool and it does work for non paying members but does have limitations.  Still it is a nice tool to help figure out what sectors to go after caches.

Regarding that nasty CV, let's hope you can travel in several months.

I've had experience completing a 360 challenge and it appears this tool has similar qualities as the challenge checker I used a year ago.  When you click on each red radial / arc you will see the caches available to find for that radial.  If you click on a green radial, you will see all the caches you have found inside that degree arc.

The overall 360 degree circle only appears to go out 50 to 75 miles.  It is my understanding that is the limit you can find caches that will work to fill in those radials / arcs.  Again, I didn't create the tool so its only a theory on my part.  When I completed the 360 challenge in my area, it had limits on how far out it would count a cache to qualify.

Thanks for the tip about clicking on the individual radial. That works for me.

However, for your own info, you can extend the radials out by a lot more than 50 to 75 miles simply by scrolling the map along a radial and waiting for the map to refresh. But you have to be at a certain zoom level for this to work, and it won't find any available caches for you beyond the current 50-odd miles, but you could use some form of map compare to locate potential finds for yourself.
PS I've just done some checking and it looks like that distance for available caches is 60 miles.
Thanks for finding out it was 60 miles and at least my educated guess of 50 to 75 miles was in the ball park.  Not being a paid member has a lot of limitations where it won't display all the caches available per radial.  I tried your technique of zooming in and it does appear you are correct that it doesn't have a limit on how far it projects.  The 360 challenge I completed did have a limit set by the CO and thankfully this tool doesn't have that restriction.
Chances are it's actually 100km since this site is not from USA and they use real measurements.
Possibly. My calculation wasn't scientific. I simply found a cache which was pretty much on the boundary of the circle and used Geocaching Toolbox to tell me the distance from it to my home position. The difference between 60 Miles and 100 Km is only 4Km (2.5 miles).
I grew up with both systems and can easily work with either although the Metric system is far superior.
I tested the 100 Km theory and found that it continues way beyond this.  I clicked on a radial and kept following it all the way out to 548 miles or 881 Km.  So, with a little patience, it appears you can go out to as far as you need.
