I am assuming that your question is regarding below:

image51 (Challenge difficulty rated by Project-GC, on a scale from 0 to 100)

I did a search with these keywords 'challenge checker difficulty rating' and found this thread:

https://project-gc.com/qa/?qa=5489/difficulty-of-a-challenge&show=5489#q5489

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Thanks
The answer on there says
"Currently the number is calculated by combining data of how many who fulfills it who lives both close to it, and far from it. Number of found logs is also a factor that we are using."

I can understand using the qualifier stats as a gauge - very logical

However - ' Number of found logs is also a factor'
How is the number of finders relevant - there are a number of factors that could affect how many times it is found that would skew this difficulty rating (the PGC one) - location of cache for example, some challenges may only be found by a few due to where it is hidden - geographically (not often visited place) and relevant to T rating (high up in a tree) - others may be placed in a high tourist area where a lot of cachers come to from all over the world (capital cities)
Also - I presume this is only relevant if it is a common challenge such as 'Find 50 puzzle caches' as you can use other similar challenges to obtain that figure

Sorry not trying to be picky just getting my head round how these things are calculated as I get asked the question myself

cheers
No worries.  I was curious about it too and decided to research to find out if anything has been said about it.  Keep in mind that the link is from a source that is over 5 years old.  I am very skeptical that nothing has changed over all that time meaning refinements / updates should have been made by now.

I'm hoping that this is seen by the Admin and he can step in with a more accurate and up-to-date explanation if one exists. Needless to say and in my humble opinion, a lot of the data in this game is very subjective or skewed as you put it.  There is no way to change that.  People do not accurately measure D/T ratings and the interpretation changes from person to person.
Thank you for choosing as best.  It is much appreciated.
