Labcaches by Found Date updated

I noticed this morning that the Labcaches by Found Date data is being updated.

Up until today if I found a cache after 16:00 PST then it would show as found the following day in PGC. This morning I noticed that my lab finds from Sunday that were previously spread between Sunday and Monday now show on the correct day.

After some further research I found an FAQ that mentions the update under "Known Issues":

That's interesting, but sadly that move makes the problem worse rather than better, although that view is (of course) subjective.

If I read that update right, then moving forward PGC will now be reporting the 'found date' for Lab Caches to match the date produced by Groundspeak. Whilst I can sort of applaud a certain uniformity of data, Groundspeak currently record Lab Cache finds in accordance with Seattle time (PST I think) instead of local time.

That won't make much of a difference to cachers in the USA but is an almighty pain in the arse for anyone else, the problem getting bigger the further away you are.

For us poor buggers in New Zealand, who are currently 21hrs ahead of PST, that means currently the ONLY way to get a Lab Cache find to actually be factually correct is to only find them between 9pm and midnight!

That is of course bitter when there are so many hours.
However, you can run down and note down the LabCaches during the day and then log them at home in the evening from 9 p.m.

I know of that trick, and yes I have successfully employed it on occasion (such as making sure I got a Lab Cache on Feb 29th) but that doesn't work if the AdLab series is set up to be done sequentially. You can get the first one, but no more.
And also, it won't allow you to make a mistake or error that requires a re-check of info if you are no longer at GZ.
If Groundspeak would only change their system to local time, then PGC matching that would be an excellent result.
