What counts as a longer log? I'm trying to up my stats for the author badge but I don't understand how this badge works.

The badge counts the number of words in each of your logs, totals this over your caching career and divides by the number of finds you have. Thus, to raise the number you need to write longer logs than your current average. This means that the more finds you already have, the more difficult it is to change your average.
