On the 'Project-gc Live Map', I can do amazing things with filtering, zooming, &c. However, I see no way of saving the results to a list, or a gpx, or doing anything at all other than admiring the pretty colors.

There is no lasso, no button to save... Is there any way to save the displayed caches?

What exactly is it that you can do on Live Map that you can't do on MapCompare with only your name as the compare imput?

Wow. Not a response I'd expected.

The Live map allows one to zoom and scroll. I'll grant that you can do that with Map compare, but the caches displayed on the map compare are static, If you widen or shift your display area, you'll see no additional caches

The Livemap allows one to interactively filter. One could, for example, having examined an area, limit displayed caches to only Mysteries, and then, further limit to only those with the word 'challenge' in the name.

The only thing that, as far as I can see, that you can do with the MapCompare is save to a Virtual GPS, which is, of course, the very rub
I'm just trying to understand your issue to be able to help you?

All the things you're saying here are things you can do on MapCompare. So my suggested workflow would be:
1) Use the live map like you're used to.
2) Open MapCompare and apply the filters you've decided gives you the caches you want.
3) Add them to a VGPS from Map Compare.
4) Optional: Export to GPX or a geocaching bookmarklist if that's what you want.
