Difficulty of a challenge

Each checker on project-gc has a skull-sign with a difficulty score for the challenge. How is this difficulty score calculatetd?

This is the answer to the question which was given on 2015-02-27: 

Currently the number is calculated by combining data of how many who fulfills it who lives both close to it, and far from it. Number of found logs is also a factor that we are using.

But maybe Ganja would like to give a better explenation now!

Thanks, vogelbird. I did a thread search before I put the question but did'nt find anything. Even now with the words of the answer  given I can't find it via the search.
