Two geography zone caches for the counties of Ventura and Santa Barbara, California.
in Miscellaneous by Team Geo-Rangers (140 points)
Some have to create the polygon with the corners of the map and att to the GenericPolyChecker.
The problem is if i am not mistaken is that the coordinates on the USGS topographical map is in another datum then geocaches uses NAD27 and WGS84.
So they have to be converted. If you don't do that the border will be off by 87 meters by longitude

If you like to do it the checker is easy to create. Contacte me directly if you want help with how to do the convertion and the format of the the checker

I made a checker for GC22CJJ_ventura-county-quad-challenge.

The coordinates are converted from NAD27 to WGS84. Two cachers are not passing the verification so I'm not certain if the CO is using the NAD27 grid on which the USGS topographical map is based.

The other possibility is that one of the cacher has a cache included which is just outside the county (based on the PGC county polygon).

Here is the checker for Santa Barbara; http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4QE1Z/16684.

Please take note of the following remarks:

  • A couple of quad may be closed to geocaching because they are fully on US Military property. These quad are in the checker as needed, please inform me which ones these are in order to remove them from the checker.
  • Converted from NAD27 to WGS84 (Datum and Coordinate Transformation { http://www.cohp.org/coordinate_transformations.html } - only longitude changed.

I noticed that there is still no FTF and the CO has not fullfilled the challenge either, so it is  difficult to verify the checker.
