Would it be possible to add an option to separate events from the D/T grid?

Do you mean when you are searching for new caches to fill holes in your D/T grid or in the display on your profile page of which combos you have found (or something else)? If the first option, then it already exists, but is a function for paying members of Project-GC only.

On the profile page of found combos. It lists finds and has a few events in those boxes, and on some challenges, events do not count.

I'd say that's a job for a challenge checker for that specific challenge. There are lots of weird demands from challenges and the profile page can't accomodate them all - that's what checkers are for.
