Not exactly a challenge checker, but was wondering if a LUA script could be written in order to extract that information and do a "group by" cacher name.

If you want to know who have found the and how many from the series they have found it can be done quite easy.
Add all caches to a bookmarklist and make it public. Use the "Top Finders" statistics and add a filter with that bookmark list. You will now have top finders from that bookmarklist

This can not be done as a checker. You have to check for each cacher separate.
