Statistics for period of time as cacheowner in case of adoption

Question

As a cache owner, it is most fair, if the statistics, generated by project-gc are fot the period, the cache owner is responsible for.

As I would adopt a cache, I would earn all the logs and all the favorite points for free. Thats not fair because the former cache owner has reached them and it was not me to be responsible for that.

Otherwise, if I would give one of my caches to adoption, my statistics will change and I am "stolen" the Logs in count and words and the favorite points etc.

So the goal has to be to include the time each cache-owner owned the cache in the statistics for that certain period of time.

If you would make it, that would be great and hopefully groundspeak will also lead to that goal.
To clearly manage this fact in statistics will also lead in more adoptions instead of archieve and starting a new cache (even with same listing and old box+logpaper) and could reduse the workload for reviewers a little bit.

It's a great idea, but I'm not sure it's possible with the info that's in the API from Groundspeak. Even the log noting a change of owner is just a 'note' log if I remember correctly.

It'd be good if some kind of system could be found though. This is one reason I don't adopt caches.

Correct, it's a note (http://coord.info/GLMBXJEY for example).
It's always the same way: [Cachename] was transferred from [old Cacheowner] to [new Cacheowner] and a corresponding date.
I have no idea, if the API can give that information.

As I have adopted caches, older then I have cached myself I have a caching-karma for that time for infinite / extreme high.

Adopting caches would be a great opportunity - if the statistics are made correctly.

Yes that's true. I gave away one of my caches with app. 920 logs and now they are not counted to the karma and now i have to place a new cache to get the 6th of february back to the found dates of my hidden caches. That day is missing since i gave way to adopt the cache..

Well i know that statistics should not be overrated, but if i would have known this earlier, i rather would have archived the cache.

Noobnader, look at it this way. By adopting out your cache, you're allowing other people to continue finding it, bringing pleasure to them. You've also increased the karma level of the person adopting it. So whilst your statistical karma may drop, your real karma (if you believe in such things) increases :-)

Though in your position I'd have been tempted to do the same thing.

Well yes, you're right, but i believe more in numbers than in those things.. ;-)

No, i am not envious of the new owner, he is a friend of mine. But i really was irritated when i saw the date missing, after i had it completely filled and when i saw my received logs drop at around 1k..
