Could The Achiever badge include challenges you own?

I have no idea if this is the right forum to post this so please feel free to move it to most appropriate one if necessary. I'm not sure if I would consider this a Feature Request but more like a suggestion or an ask for a minor change.

Currently The Achiever badge under PGC's BadgeGen counts the number of challenges you've logged. As per the current GC.com challenge rules, you must qualify for any challenges you publish but you can't log any of your own (challenge) caches so wouldn't it be nice if you got "credit" for all the challenges you've published "under" The Achiever badge as well?

Would that be possible or worth considering? It would be a nice to have, IMO. :-)

Will hosting a CITO also count as an event for Leap Year

According to my Profile Stats, on the BadgeGen tab, under Belt Information, I've uploaded 339 photos to my found logs, but yet if I look under Badge Information (on the same tab), The Shutterbug stat shows 344.

Why is there a difference? Which is correct?

According to the wiki, you now need the geotour attribute to achieve diamond level. I haven't got this yet, though I have all the others. But my badgegen is still at diamond level. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Levels for D/T and 366 addons

Would it be possible to have levels for an add-on, from bronze to diamond the same as the badges? I think this would only be for the D/T and 366 addons.

The levels would go up the same as their badges (matrix and Calendar Cacher)

For example, if I got an FTF on 100 different calendar days, then I would be awarded the 366 addon for my FTF badge at bronze level. When I reached 150 days the addon would go up to silver level, and so on.

Addon labels incorrect

Please rename the addons for badgen country badges to use the correct addon names, as per the non-country badges (english):

ftf should be FTF
366cal should be 366 Calendar
leapday should be Leapday

I haven't been awarded any other addons but I suspect all will need to be checked.

Elevation Issue for sea level Earthcache & Incorrect BadgeGen badge award

There is an Earthcache that is at sea level - you have to be on a ferry boat to do the earthcache. I found the following in the FAQ:

I found a cache with a faulty elevation
Sadly there are a lot of geocaches with these issues. The elevation data does not come from Geocaching.com since it doesn't have that data. We have therefore built our own SRTM-service for the purpose, it currently serves SRTM v3.0. As a fallback for the areas this doesn't cover, we use to OpenElevation (OpenStreetMap) and the Google Elevation API.
If you find that a value in Project-GC isn't correct. Please read below how our elevation data works, and also check other services like for example Geonames. If you find out that other services has about the same fault tolerance, then there is nothing to do.
We do not do manual changes in the data. But if you find an entry that seems to be off by a lot more than in other services, feel free to report it so that we can investigate.

The Earthcache in question is Fraser River Plume. I have checked on Geonames, and as the location is in the ocean, it returns -32768. Per their documentation for the SRTM3 API request:

ocean areas have been masked as "no data" and have been assigned a value of -32768

I think Project GC should use a value of ZERO for all locations that return -32768 as the elevation from the geonames API.

Everyone who has logged this Earthcache has been awarded (in error) the "Diamond Low Altitude Cacher" badge on the BadgeGen page in Profile Stats.

Badge for lonely caches?

Either total days of loneliness interrupted (only counting those past a year) or single most lonely.

Or even an entry in the Finds tab showing the loneliest cache found?

Hi everyone,
the country badges have been updated slightly.
They now feature larger and simpler flags, which reduces file size and traffic. The font size on the ribbon has been enlarged on most countries as well (there are a few countries with very long names that still have a smaller font, but most have been upped by 15-25%).

The flags are now larger, more uniform and in many parts more abstract. The idea is to not necessariliy have the perfect, official flag (can't be done anyway, as the medals are round), but a set of icons that is easily identifiable and provides all info at first glance.

I have also updated the "all counties"-AddOn, it is now a little different checkmark.

As always: if you spot some errors or if you have any ideas feel free to comment, give constructive feedback.

What's next?
We are currently in the process of reworking the Maps section, both visually and the underlying OSM data. No updates on current issues will be made until the rework is done.

The Belt system will be reworked, too. First ideas have been collected, but this will be targeted somewhat later this year. We do not want to downgrade current levels, but rather expand and streamline the current system.

badgegen geocoin

The new Badgegen-Badges were initially unfamiliar to me, but now I like them quite a lot. So I thought to myself it would be nice, if I could buy a geocoin from all the diamond-badges, to collect them when i reach this award. Does anybody know, if there is something being planned from project-gc?

A curious observation regarding Stat generation

I am a fully paid up member of PGC, which means that my Stats get updated on a daily basis.

I also have my PGC stats published on my profile page on my Groundspeak account.

The strange thing is that if I look at my PGC generated stats through my Groundspeak profile then it is completely up to date, more so than the same Stat page on PGC.

I will see if I can add screen shots to illustrate from my phone (not easy for me), but has anyone else noticed this phenomena?

Badge Gen - Calender Days do not grow further

Hi, I have received 1050 different calender days for finding a cache, but this level stays fix since spring. Since some month the number of different days do no grow any more.

Feature Request: Extensions of BadgeGen Belt

With the revisions and additions from clappy, the BadgeGen already look great.

However, I would suggest/request that the BadgeGen Belt also be extended.

At 400 points, the Golden Black Belt (the highest ranking) is awarded now..

I would request like 420 Platinum, 450 Ruby, 475 Sapphire, 500 Emerald and 550 Diamond

It could be also a higher number and extra stripe on your belt even after gold.

Points are awarded based on the "old" conditions.
I would request some new conditions
0.01 for every Labcache/Adventure Labs
0.01 for every degree from your 360 all around home badge
10 points for completing Jasmer
0.01 points fulfilling positive / negative attributes

...

Hi everyone,

BadgeGen has been updated to version 4.1.2, with it comes the official release of the new Country Badges.

What's new?

BadgeGen Bronze and Platinum have been given a slight color tweak
The non-awarded, but viewable badges in the Badge Table have a distinct background
Country Badges with flags and names are available for all currently 250 distinct geographic regions on geocaching . com
A country with caches found that has too less data to generate a percentage of regions found gets a "wooden" background.
The following AddOns are currently available on all Country Badge levels from the ruby-level upwards:
FTF - having at least found one FTF in the country
Leap Day - having found at least one cache in the country on Feb 29
81 Matrix - having completed the D/T matrix with caches found only in this country
366 calendar - having a full found calendar with caches found only in this country
All counties - having found a cache in all of the country's counties (green checkmark sign)

We plan for more AddOns in the future, the current goal was to finally release the Country Badges first.
Again, very special thanks to DrDaffy, who had the initial idea of the flag designs.

Bug: Both High Altitude and Long Distance Cacher badges units reporting incorrectly?

I just noticed another possible bug. I've already read this thread and the problem is not the same.

I have both places set to Imperial units (feet and miles) under Settings from the screen name drop down menu and also under Statistics - Profile Stats - Settings. When I look at the Hide tab everything reports as Imperial units. However, when I hover over the Long Distance and High Altitude badges it still reports the units as metric. I believe the badge levels are also still reporting as metric.

To attempt to resolve, I have already toggled off both Imperial settings and then did a Shift + Refresh. This worked to set everything back to metric. When I toggled Imperial back on and used the same refresh procedure the same problem persisted.

Bug in Attribute Cacher Badge?

currently my stats are as follows:

Positive Attribute: 63 von 66 gesammelt (95.5%)
Negative Attribute: 41 von 41 gesammelt (100.0%)

but the badge states 4 are missing:

The Attribute Cacher (Diamant)

Am I wrong or this is a bug in badge calculation?

License on Badgegen - clarification

Hi, I understand that Badgegen in licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 license. I would like to ask for a clarification on the ND clause: am I allowed to use (a subset of) the images of the badges (without change) on the different website or would you consider it to be a derivative work even if I don't edit or modify the badges themselves? What about requirements for getting a badge? Do you also consider them to be a "work" which is protected by ND clause, so they can't be tuned to my needs?

Help needed: Country Badges - flag issues

I have started working on the Country Badges for BadgeGen and the new version will feature all territories currently counted by GC HQ. However, I am running into the situation that there are territories listed as unique "states or countries" that are actually part of another country. Or that there are territories listed that don't have flag at all.

Before I am listing all the issues, I'd like to state my concern: We need help in deciding how to handle these cases. There will be no "universal" solution for all cases and you will see why. I'd like to use a regional flag where possible to distinguish the badges as best as I can (because having e.g. several French flags would look strange). But then there might be the question of which to use. What we want to avoid is any too political situation (like a revolutionary flag, or so) or any cultural offense. That's why we are asking for help.

I will post an overview of all issues and one seperate answer for each territory, so you can comment directly.

FRANCE

All French Overseas Territories are parts of France and offically use the French flag.

Réunion: has several unofficial state and proposed flags, and an unoffical regional flag, which BadgeGen currently uses
French Guiana: has an old flag, which is still used in sports
Guadeloupe: has several unoffical flags, one regional flag (currently in use for BG)
Martinique: there is a new flag used for sporting events, BG currently uses the old Coat of Arms
Mayotte: has an unofficial flag, but used as state flag (current BG)
Saint-Martin: has no flag at all
Saint-Barthélemy: has an unofficial flag and is used
Saint Pierre and Miquelon: has an unofficial flag, but none used
Wallis and Futuna: has an unofficial flag and is used
French Southern and Antarctic Territories (this one actually has a flag!)

AUSTRALIA

Heard Island and McDonald Islands: has no flag, uninhabitated

UNITED STATES

United States Minor Outlying Islands: some islands have their own flags, but none as a group

NETHERLANDS

Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba: Carribbean Netherlands, all three have their own flags, but none as a group, but they are grouped as a territory on GC.com

NORWAY

Bouvet Island: has no flag, uninhabitated
Svalbard and Jan Mayen: has no flag

ADDENDUM: I'm getting alerted to several countries that currently have a BadgeGen Badge, but showing no flag. It is most likely they are on the current list from HQ, which I am using. So these territories will get a proper badge. The reason they don't have one right now is that the territory has been added to the list after Kyle had provided the icons, which were never updated by PGC.

The Achiever not showing leap day find

I've logged a challenge cache (or actually 2) on leap day this year. Both of these caches were logged with a "write note" before. Now, although I would expect to see that, I don't see the leap day badge showing up on "The Achiever" in Badgegen. Is there a reason for this? Is this expected behaviour as the challenges were logged with a "write note" before, or could this be an error? Thanks in advance!

Could we have two new badges for BadgeGen ?? distinct cache type hidden and distinct cache size hidden ???

Now that your taking over badgegen is it possible to add some more badges ?? I like the bits in the belt and feel that they could be used to have a badge in badgegen. I feel that we could have some hidden badges as well as found badges. So you could have Diverses finder / diverse hider

Hi everone!

We just updated BadgeGen to version 4.0.g. Due to local client data-caches it will take up to 24 hours until you see the new versions. Meanwhile there could be a mix of new and old.

This is only a minor update, most of the changes are "behind-the-screens". ;)

What's new?

We have updated the graphics slightly, so you might see changes. Biggest change is the new icon for Jasmer, constructive feedback is welcome.
Badge background now have shading to prevent errors in display of gradients.
We have converted all text to vector paths, which should eliminate too small font sizes or absolutely crazy display of the ribbon and loop text.
AddOns are now allocated dynamically to their slots.
File clean-up to remove old parts and have consistent naming.

What's next?

We will further update the wiki pages in the next few days
We will work on the country badges, but it may take a couple of weeks. There are roughly ~250 countries to work on

D/T-Matrix für ausländische Caches

Für den Badge "The Traveling Cacher" gibt es die Addons
- "D/T - Log all (81) unique D/T combinations in at least two different countries" und
- "366 - Log geocaches on all 366 unique calendar days, in at least two different countries."

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit abzufragen welche D/T-Kombination/Log-Dates innerhalb bzw. ausserhalb des Heimatlandes fehlen?
Also eine Einschränkung des D/T-Matrix-Tools für nur inländische bzw. nur ausländische Caches?

Possible add-ons for the Jasmer Cacher badge

As a Jasmer cacher (I had a double Jasmer before, and I must work a bit to have it back) I have two suggestions for add-ons to this badge. Now it can only be looped, technically up to 9 times, in practice the limit is 4 because of August 2000. And it has no micro-badges. The Jasmer hunters have two additional goals for this challenge, ones that can be rewarded with add-ons to the diamond Jasmer:

Physical Jasmer - Jasmer challenge done only by finding physical geocaches: traditional, multi, letterbox, mystery, HQ, APE, wherigo. So: no events, virtuals etc.
Jasmer Pyramid - this is tricky. It requires a player to find: one cache places in each month of 2000 and the current year (now 2020), two caches placed in each month of 2001 and the previous year (so 2019 now), three caches placed in each month of 2002 and two years ago, etc. So in 2020 the requirement is: 2000:1, 2001:2, 2002:3, 2003:4, 2004:5, 2005:6, 2007:8, 2008:9, 2009:10, 2010:11, 2011:10, 1012:9, 2013:8, 2014:7, 2015:6, 2016:5, 2017:4, 2018:3, 2019:2, 2020:1. In 2021 the requirement for 2011-2020 will grow by one (so both 2010 and 2011 will require 11) and of course the new year will be added.

Would it be possible to visualize not achieved addons ?

Bug: Geocacher badge not rendering addons in hover text

My IT knowledge is not the best so don't get too critical. When I hovered over the Geocacher badge on my friends profile it did not render his add-ons in the text description. I have provided the link to his profile page. Is this a bug that needs fixing?

BadgeGen: Ideas for improving the Jasmer badge icon?

As suggested, I am opening a separate thread for ideas regarding the Jasmer badge icon.

Right now, the idea behind the design is the path from the Start of Geocaching (May 2000) until today. And "today" of course is no fixed end point but the ever-ongoing future.

The icon is a bit crowded, I know, but I have not yet found a clever idea on how to convert the message of the badge into a nice icon that kind of fits the others.

So, if you have any ideas or suggestions on how to improve this specific badge's design, please answer/comment here or send me a message over at geocaching.com.

I will collecting the answers on March 7, 2020 and start reworking the design then.

Hi everyone!

We have just updated BadgeGen to version 4.0.f. You can see the changes by reloading your Stat Page (Shift-F5), or wait for a few days.

What's new?

We have updated the graphics, so you will see changes, though not so heavy as last time.
We have removed the APE badge and converted it to an AddOn to "The Geocacher" badge
We have also added AddOns for HQ, Locationless, Block Party, HQ Celebration, and Community Celebration to "The Geocacher" badge.
As these AddOns are being rewarded for finding special cache types, they will be available for every badge level, and not only for the gem levels, which is the general threshold for AddOns to be displayed.

What's next?

We will update the wiki pages in the next few days
The Jasmer icon needs some fresh ideas. If you have one, feel free to contact me/us.
We will clean up code and files, to remove old script, stuff we disregarded (this you will not notice)
We will work on the country badges, but it may take a couple of weeks. There are roughly ~250 countries to work on

If you spot mistakes, let us know. If you critizise stuff you don't like, tell us what we can improve.

Now that I have updated using Shift + Reload, I am very impressed with the results. This is exquisite work. What could be the problem?

The individual icons are not displayed correctly on my mobile phone.

Feedback on new badge: Difficulty of Jasmer cacher badge

I have been looking at the makeover that the badge system has gotten as of late - in particular the new badge types.

Keeping to just one: The Jasmer cache, I have a few questions.

1. Difficulty curve of Jasmer badge

I have noticed that the new Jasmer has a very steep difficulty curve compared to other badges with max values (only 360 degrees in the circle, only 103 attributes collectable), the Jasmer cache has a very steep curve to get to the gem badges ?

Here it is as a table, comparing the percentages of Diamond level for All round cacher and the Attributes cacher against Jasmer's levels:

Suggestion: Bring the difficulty of the Jasmer cache more in line with the rest of badges.

If you were to align the Jasmer badge to the difficulty of, say, the Attribute cacher, the progression in months requirement would look like this:

Values within the vicinity of the above would be my proposal.

2. Diamond level for Jasmer badge as time moves on

Title says it all. Currently, Diamond is obtained at 237 months. Counting both May 2000 and February of 2020, the total max is now 238 months. Not considering scenarios that include the end of the world or other event that will potentially stop people from getting new cache listings published, presumably there max will pretty much increase by one for each new month we enter. Will the total be revised or is it the plan that 237 will forever be diamond level?

Is there a reason the Cache Owner badge doesn't have 29 FEB and 366 addons?

I just noticed on the wiki that the Cache Owner badge doesn't have 29 FEB and 366 addons. Is there a reason for this? It could give those addons for caches placed on those dates.

The Event Host does have those addons, and I think it's weird that one of those badges does and the other doesn't.

I have found numerous virtuals published before 2005 but do not have the Old Virtual addon on my Virtual badge (ruby). The wiki says it should be there. A bug in the addon code?

It has been a week since BadgeGen v4 BETA with its new design and features has been introduced. We have had massive feedback from you guys and many people wished for more colors, more contrast, and more lively icons.
We have sorted all that feedback and I went back to the table and redid most of the artwork. It is a bit going back towards the old design, with keeping many of our modern ideas. I tried do add more contrast as well as more "shine". I opted against going too realistic, because then the icons would have looked bad on them.
Reasons for the change and a lot of feedback, critics and suggestions can be found in this Q&A-thread.

Today, we're launching the redesigned artwork in BadgeGen_v4.0.c (so still a BETA) and again wish for your feedback. Please be constructive, if you don't like something, please tell us what we can improve.
If you spot some smaller errors in the artwork, please make me aware too, then I can change this in a later update.

Country badges will be tend to later, as soon as the general design is done.
Badge requirements may also be reworked in some cases.

Please note that changes might not immediately visible to you, due to cached data in your browser.

UPDATE 1: The ribbon font is smaller that it is supposed to be, we are aware of this.

Why are BadgeGen matrix loop addons capped at 99 but still show real number in Find Stats?

I understand loop addons are capped, however, the real number still displays in the Find Stats section. Just curious why the cap was selected for the addons when the real number is still logged?

On the new BadgeGen badges, I noticed a 29 Feb sub-badge.
Where can I find a list of which badges this sub-badge is available? I need to plan my activities for Feb 29 to earn as many more as possible!

The new badgegen implementation supports a sub-badge qualifier on the badges.
I have one that I do not recognise. Can someone fill me in?

Currently there are:
1 - xxx - Number of times Diamond achieved
366 - a cache of this type for each date of the year
FTF - an FTF on this cache type
29 Feb - found this cache type on Leap Day
CITO - Hosted this event type?
Suitcase - ???

Any others?

What are the icons around the edge of the new pgc badges?

I like the new pgc badge categories which are interesting and a good step forwards.

In my badges I have some icons shown around the edge of certain badges, for example on my Earthcache badge I have two icons, a FTF and 29 Feb.

Where can I find a list of all the possible icons for each badge and their meaning please?
