Bugs following recent changes to the division of counties in Québec (Canada)

We have 101 counties in Québec and this has not changed for several years.

But recently, changes have been made to the division of the counties of Québec on the Project-GC database.

Three counties of Québec were split in two, which means that we end up with six counties instead of three, which is an error in relation to the reality.

The three affected counties before the changes:
- Brome-Missisquoi
- La Haute-Yamaska
- Québec

The three (now six) affected counties after the changes:
- Brome-Missisquoi
- Brome-Missisquoi (Québec)
- La Haute-Yamaska
- La Haute-Yamaska (Québec)
- Québec
- Québec (Québec)

Consequently, the results of Challenge Checkers using Québec counties are inconsistent with reality.

Example for me: I have found 17 caches in "Brome-Missisquoi" county.

But following recent changes on the database, I end up with:
- 9 caches found in "Brome-Missisquoi" county;
- 8 caches found in "Brome-Missisquoi (Québec)" county.

Very frustrating for geocachers who were qualified for certain challenges but no longer are because of this erroneous division in the database.

Even Project-GC stats by county are wrong following these recent changes on the database. Example for Belougas who has found at least one cache in the 101 counties of Québec: Project-GC thinks Belougas has found at least one cache in 104 counties of Québec on 101 counties of Québec... :

Connecticut has dissolved it's 8 historical counties and has replaced them with 9 new planning regions, or county equivalents. OpenStreetMaps has been updated so I'm just wondering how soon the new counties will show up in project-gc

Non-consistent map statistics in Crimea

According to the statistics in my Profile stats - Maps - World map, I have 1 find in Ukraine: https://yadi.sk/i/5Ht0gg0S5dNMtQ

But in the bottom of the page it shows me Ukraine with 0 regions and 0 counties logged. And according to that map Crimea is not included in Ukraine: https://yadi.sk/i/ye59fmGnKPRBNQ

Crimea exists as a county in Russia, but it also shows 0 finds there: https://yadi.sk/i/7ULbt-HMACVv3Q

Moreover, if you click on Crimea, you can see only 6 caches there, even though there are more in the region: https://yadi.sk/i/bXoJGqFBRPgtuw (and 0 caches in Sevastopol)

I don't want any political discussion here please :) I just want caches in Crimea to be shown in one country, region and county, so the statistics can be consistent.

I hope that this little issue was not already raised.

if I click in the menu on Tools -> map counties and then input my GC nickname and select as Country germany.

And when I then click on filter then nothing is shown.

If i select sweden as country everything works well.

What is the sort order rule for Top County Finders (Poland)?

I was wandering what is the sort rule, the order in the list of top finders - is it the largest number of cache finds in counties? Less number of only one find in the county?

I am the second on the Poland list (Lekkoduch) but I was the the second person to achieve 380 counties finds, so what it tthe sorting patern, if it is nit a secret :)

From profile stats page choose map tab. Scroll down to UK click regions or counties. Note that there are only 13 buttons to access the region breakdowns yet there are 14 regions. The button for South Wales is missing.

Incorrect county level regions in South Korea

There are two "county" level regions in the South Korean maps that are actually neighborhood level and should not be included on a county level map. These two are listed below.

창원시 마산합포구 신포동1가 (Gyeongsang nam do)

창원시 마산합포구 신월동 (Gyeongsang nam do)

These are well below the county level and actually just small neighborhoods within the same city. I'm not sure how these were mislabeled, but they should be removed from the South Korean Maps.

missing region in Incheon, South Korea

Hello, I just now noticed a missing "County Level" region in the "State Level" maps on project gc.

It is a small region, so I hadn't noticed it before.

When I searched using the "Search Counties" tool at the country level, I noticed a red spot where I didn't expect. When I zoomed in I could select Dong-gu on the country level county map.

However, when I use the "Search Counties" tool filtering at the state level, the county disappears and is not selectable. Dong-gu is also not present in the maps tab in my profile stats.

This is a legitimate "County Level" region in Incheon, Korea, but seems to be missing most places.

Fromer village Schönegg was merged by 2018-01-01 with Vorderweißenbach - new name is Vorderweißenbach but county of Schönegg changed from Rohrbach to Urfahr-Umgebung. County borders in OSM are already changed.

LGA boundary changes in NSW

In the past 2 years (and still ongoing in some cases), some local councils in NSW have amalgamated and therefore the "county" boundaries of these Local Government Areas (LGAs) has changed. In Sydney we've reduced down from 38 to 30 councils which makes for some significant movement.

Just wondering how feasible it would be to update these boundaries.

Newfoundland counties not represented in county map

Except for Newfoundland - which has 9 Counties

Can't see regions in Switzerland anymore

Before I could see the cantons when I was on the regions tab, but this is now gone, so I'm left with the 2000+ communes from the county tab. However I can now see some other divisions (seems to be regions) which I can choose under the county button, which weren't there before.
Is this a bug? Or an incomplete feature?

Problem with counties in Poland

There are two counties in Poland called "Tomaszowski" on project GC map.

They are in two different regions.

Please fix it. They need to be differentiated.

Mismatch between regions and counties in Kiev, Ukraine

This is not of the utmsost importance, but I believe that it is a bug none the less.

From the maps tab in my profile stats:

I don't know how government is structured in the Ukraine, but based alone on the locations of the green spots on the counties map, I believe that there is an error.

This question comes from Germany and is for a single german federal state and its counties. I checked the map and see "Found it" in a county where i have not been yet. The reason: The location of the mystery question mark is used and not the location of the cache. What does that mean for the truth of a solved Challenge? "A minimum of one cache in all counties and cities in one federal state." Looks like i can solve the challenge and there is no need to set a foot in this county.

When generating a GPX file, it would be valuable to know the US county in which a cache is located. When creating the Garmin enhancement (PGC-generated) log at the beginning of log list, would it be possible to include the county (and, ideally, the deLorme grid) in that log entry?

Error: One option too much in Map Counties - Belgium

When selecting "Map Counties", then selecting Belgium for County / Region, there are 12 options for counties, while Belgium has only 11 provinces. The option that is too much and isn't working anyway is "Brussels" - it doesn't show a map and details. The selection "Bruxelles-Capitale - Brussel-Hoofdstad" is working just fine and is the correct one. Please remove "Brussels" from the list.

In January 2016 there were some changes of the boundaries of county in Switzerland. Actually there are "only" 2409 counties in Switzerland. In comparision with the map of Switzerland on the statistic page, where you will find 2412 counties, it seems there is a small bug. Would it be possible to recheck or reimport the boundaries of Switzerland to adapt the new county situation in Switzerland.

Using Map Counties it might be an interesting to be able to turn on multi select for the regions- and country-boxes like in Map - Hidden Month and others.

In the moment you can only show all counties of one country or all counties of one regions of one country.

In Map Regions similar only with the countries box.

You would be able to show all or some Regions of both Germany and Denmark for example or all or some counties of the border regions Syddanmark and Schleswig-Holstein if you make holiday near a countries border.

Hello,

on the map is a missing part that belongs to nothing. So some of the caches count to the western county (Bremerhaven/Bremen) but they belong to (Wesermarsch/Niedersachsen).

How can that be fixed? Is there any function to report caches that a wrong in counting to county or country?

On the Profile Stats tab called Map it shows the Regions & Counties for each country on a map. Is there a shapefile (or similar format file) available for download that contains this boundary information that I could use for personal use?

The Location selector is hardcoded english, The translated country-names are not used.

Also many of the location selectors are missing the default flag (your own country)

This used to show on Some Numbers tab but have since achieved 10 in mainland Europe so the stat has been updated.
Now I can't find the day I did 5 UK Counties.

Why do the regions and counties maps of Portugal look like "perforated"

I recognized that the maps for counties and regions of Portugal look different: the areas are not filled completely, they have "holes" and therefore the image looks ugly.

You can see it for example at http://project-gc.com/ProfileStats/FerrariGirlNr1#Maps if you scroll down to the "Portugal" section. I haven't seen it at other maps, so it seems to be a source file problem of the map?

Maps - order of regions

Just out of curiousity, how is the order that regions are displayed in determined for the maps tab? It seems to be approximately in descending order of caches found in that region, but my statistics page puts Southern England (with 31 caches) behind South West, East Midlands and North West (with 28, 27 and 19 caches respectively). I haven't got any caches in the Southern region for some time, so presumably it's not a case of lagging. Anyone any insights?

Hello,

The Texas County maps seem to not be entirely accurate. GC5HX7N (A Fisher skirt?) is 200 feet or so within Fisher county. However, my map does not register me having found one in that county. The map on the geocaching website shows it on the correct side of the line, and the county line signs on the road also indicate I was in Fisher county at the time. Are the county outlines something that can be updated, or are they being pulled from a 3rd party?

Is it possible to add a possibility to see top region and county finders regardles of the country that region or county is in? I am quite curious for example "Who out of Polish geocachers found most regions worldwide?" Countries without defined regions could just add one point each to this stat.

For some countries (e.g., France) geocaching.com does not provide county data. Project-GC has used some open source polygon data to be able to assign caches in these countries to a county nontheless. Now, if I want to create a Challenge Checker to figure out whether a cache is within a county, can I access the polygon data stored somewhere on the Project-GC servers using the GetJsonData() function. I am aware that lillfiluren's script GenericPolyChecker (http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC2M3D4/1320) can use server-side stored data, but I have no idea how the county polygons of a country are called.

Is it possible to add a more detailed location filter to the Find Checker section of the Challenge Checkers? At present only the country can be filtered, which makes it very difficult to find a specific checker. Even a 'Region/State' filter would be useful.

The target is to find caches in German counties, which build a linked corridor

a) West to East from the Netherlands/ Belgium border to the Polish border

b) North to South from the Danish border to the Austrian or Swiss border.

Of course archived and deactivated caches should also be taken into account. The type of cache is irrelevant.

The project-gc checker for my "All Counties" Project GC checker only seems to give 49 Counties in Ontario (Canada). Haldimand-Norfolk county is shown as one county when it is actually 2 separate counties, and Brantford doesn't exist (Brant County does, but Brantford is not part of it). Alaska counties not showing on map

Alaska is the only state I've been geocaching in the USA, on a holiday last year. On the map page, under the USA section, I get a button for Alaska, but when I click it I just get a blue square, not a map. If I click counties, I see the 48 "mainland" states, but not Alaska (or Hawaii). Is this intentional?

Does anyone know an app/ tool, that provides me the information, in which county I am currently located?

I like the statistics about the different counties (German: "Landkreise"), but does anyone know a handy solution how to quickly find out, in which county I currently am? I know I could find all caches that belong to a certain county, but I would prefer to know in which county I currenty am to then look for nearby caches. I googled this, but did not find an appropriate app/ tool that provides me this information.
