Feature request: Add Min and Max distance to the 'Center & Radius' filter.

The ability to filter for caches that are at least xx distance away but closer than yy distance away from a center point would be a very useful addition to the already amazing "center and radius" filter.

1. This would help us be able to find caches that meet a "Well traveled cacher" type challenge cache where X number of caches must be found in each 5 mile band from your home point. i.e. 1 cache each 5 mi band to 250 mi: ex: 0-5 mi; 5-10 mi; 10-15 mi... 245-250 mi.

2. This would help when planning a trip. Often when planning a road trip with friends (maybe to some Mega event) we will make a list of caches to get along the way in a virtual gps shared list here in Project gc, but we want to ignore all caches close to home as we could easily get them on a non "road trip" day.

In both cases adding the filter should help avoid hitting the "10,000 cache limit" on the "Map Compare" tool typically used to plan a trip by removing caches that you want to ignore anyway that are close to home providing a much better experience.

Can we track how many miles you have cached by year?

I was listening to the Geocaching Podcast this morning and they were talking about the number of finds they had in 2020. I actually had my second best year in 2020, but I bet it was my most traveled year with trips from California to Washington DC, Alaska, and Florida. That got me to thinking, it would be nice to see what my cache distance was by year. Is that something we can put in the statistics somewhere or even make a checker for it? I wouldn't mind making a challenge cache like travel so many miles in a year or so many miles over so many consecutive years.

Average distance from home of finds, per year

I'd be interested in knowing what the average distance of my finds from home is for each year since I started caching. I supect this year will be lower than usual, though I'd like to know by how much. Is there any way of doing this in PGC?

Feature request: Support decimal numbers in Center/radius filter

Map Compare is a lovely tool. However, when the cache density is especially high in an area there are a lot of caches included each time you bump the radius of the search up by 1 km.

If you enter a decimal number (by either using the dot ('.') or the comma (',') character, it will be rounded down to the nearest integer.

My request is to support the entering of decimal numbers into the radius field (and indeed other distance fields as well) instead of just integers. That, or permit us to enter radius in meters as an integer ;)

How is maximum distance in a day calculated? I believe I found a bug.

I assume that maximum distance in a day is the sum total a cacher travels from cache to cache in a single calendar date.

Today I see one cacher that has a total of over 18,000 miles as the maximum distance in a day. That's almost 7 times the width of the United States. Yet looking at the caches logged for the day, the cacher never left a single U.S. date.

Assuming a 24-hour day, that would mean the cacher traveled an average of over 750 miles per hour for the entire 24-hour day, and still managed to pick up around 200 caches in that single state.

Obviously something is very wrong here.

Statistics for my travelled distance

I have a TB in a race that is doing really poorly. Today I compared it to the other bugs, and neither seem to have moved very far. This led me to the conclusion that I have probably travelled further myself during the same time, and wanted to check this.

Since I couldn't find a way to check this I suggest this as a new statistics: the distance I (or any other cacher) has travelled from cache to cache during a given time.

(I wouldn't put this high on the priority list, but it is a nice to have if it is easy to implement.)

Statistics for My Discovered Trackables.

Could a feature be made that provides statistics for the Trackables that I have discovered.

Including:

Distance Traveled

Amount of Geocachers who have discovered the trackable

Amount of caches the Trackable has visited

This would make it easier to compare the statistics for all the travel bugs I have discovered.

yet there do similar challenge checkers exist already...

for instance for GC2VDMF, GC42ZMV, GC3RZE2 - how comes?

the owner could then mention in his listing, that the challenge checker exists, but to use it, we have to have to give access to our home coords to use it. thus we would have the chance to just open our home coords shortly to generate the challenge check, then close it again?

is this a possible solution?

Bug in chart "Average distance by bearing"

In my profile the chart "average distance by bearing" shows incorrect data. I cache mostly in central europe but I have also found a couple of caches in Florida. This of course results in one big spike in the chart. I have this spike, but it points towards about 288 degrees, so a bit northerly. The thing is now that Florida is way south of central Europe. The caches I found there were about 28 degrees N, while my other caches are typically at N48. So the spike should be somewhere around 240 degrees but definitely below 270 degrees.

Location data from Reverse (locationless) caches still included in some statistics

When I first started using project-gc, I got a lot of fancy badges that I may not have deserved. In particular, I got diamond in both "Head in the ground" and "The long distance cacher" and platinum in "Head in the clouds". This, it seemed, was due to the stats calculator using data from the type "Reverse (Locationsless) cache". After a while, my stats dropped a few points, since the data from the reverse caches were now left out of the calculation of badges and maps. That is OK, since I have never physically been anywhere near the listed coordinate for those caches.

The places the location data from reverse caches was left out were:

 BadgeGen

 Finds

 Most NSEW cache found

 Highest and lowest elevations

 Maps

The places where it did appearently not get fixed:

Elevation chart (finds) (lists 2 caches > 2500m - not listed on BadgeGen or any other place)

Stats compare (premium feature) - (lists 13 countries where the count listed all other places is currently 10 (maps, badgegen))

This concludes the bug-report portion of this post. How to handle it is essentially a feature-request. Read on for proposed solutions.

I realize that because of the special nature that surrounds the Reverse caches and the fact that people who have found them are relatively rare makes them a low priority when implementing functionality on the website. I just thought that it would be a good idea to address the problem of the locationless caches by doing one of the following:

1: Eleminate all location-based data from locationsless caches

Eliminate them from any statistics calculation that involves anything that has to do with location since they are locationless. That is:

 Traveled distance (cache-to-cache distance)

 Distance from home

 All elevation-related

 Visited areas (counties/states/countries)

	2: Use actually visited location

An alternative that will require more work: Everybody logging a reverse cache had to post a coordinate along with their log. The whole point of those were to locate some object described in general in the cache description and then post its coordinates along with photos of the object. If you have full access to the logs, the coordinates that the individual finder has been to will be there along with his or her log.

I realize that this will be more work, but it will be more representative of where the caches has actually physically been to. Consider it another feature-request (hence the tag) for a week with multiple thursdays in it :)

	Did I dream? ..

It seems to me that there was before on the site a card that allowed to see the 161 m rays as in this site:

Logarithmic scale on bearing charts

Average distance by bearing is a bit clumsy

On the profile stats, there is a radar chart with average distance by direction. But when I have just one distant cache, all the other directions have so small average distance compared to that one direction, that the chart is unusable.

I propose two solutions (both can be used together, or it could be configurable)

1. use log-scale for average distance

2. the average is calculated for disjoint intervals of directions. The chart will be more smooth if the average is with overalapping intervals (i.e. 0° - 30°, 10° - 40°, 20° - 50°, ...)

Add: Map for traveled distance for TB/GC/trackable

A very nice feature that I wish for christmas is to have a map where I can see the activity for a selectet TB/GC.

At the moment there is such a map at geocaching.com, but for some reason it is really widescreen and tiny, so it's difficult to get an overview.

In addition the lines between each point is quite thick, and the number for the cache is quite big, so when the TB has traveled a lot it all gets messy.

Would such a map be possible?

An alternative to this feature could be to have a "traveled distance" map, to see the travel activity for a geocacher rather than a TB.
