I was going to ask: "How do I stop these email notifications" but I found it.

Something like a unfollow topic/comment option in the "My updates" section would be nice. Because now I had to go looking for my comment in the list to edit it and uncheck the "email me" checkbox.

in the email, the url below "You may respond by adding another comment:" is not clickable
The "Unsubscribe" link in the mail, links to https://project-gc.com/qa/feedback which gets a 404 error

Neither myself nor another cacher are receiving email notifications when images are uploaded to our caches - Is there an issue?

Favorite point changes - OPTOUT. Is this an error?

I am unsure whether this is a bug report or not.

I received an email about favorite point changes on two of our caches. It indicated that points were added and subtracted. All four user names contained "OPTOUT" with different numbers. Screen shot linked below. Is this a bug, or did four users who wish to remain hidden coincide tally add and remove FPs on the same day?

no daily notifiers on september 17 2018

None of my daily notifies arrived in my inbox on September 17th. A typical day has several hundred new caches as I watch about 10 countries and a similar number of US states. This seems more likely a glitch than a reality.

I cannot figure out if this means they did not run on the server or if there is a problem with the delivery of e-mail.

https://project-gc.com/User/NewCacheNotifiers does say 7/100 ran on my daily limit but if the same process updates this as send's the e-mails, it may be the same results held over from the 16th.

Did anyone else have this problem?

[SOLVED] Validate email-address on geocaching.com if validation-link is not sent

A friend of mine encountered the problem that her email-address (and therefore also her account) on geocaching.com did not complete the validation process (validation link never arrived). The request of a new link (through geocaching.com -> Settings -> Email Preferences) also didn't work. Due to this she was not able to write any messages or send/receive friend request.

Event notifier email after event

I have categorized this as a bug report since it does not make much sense to send out a notification of a pending event after the event has been held.

I just got an event notification for an event today:

Challenge checker for cache owners

I am a cache owner of a couple of challenge caches¹. When you are a cache owner of challenge caches there are two possible tactics when dealing with people logging your caches:

Manually check and enforce that people logging the cache as found actually qualify to do so AND have adequately documented that they qualify to do so in their log.
Don't give a damn. Let whoever log whatever.

Anything in between will be unfair to those who actually does sit down and reads the logging requirements and follow them.

What I am proposing is that since there is a challenge checker system aimed at challenge cache owners that will monitor whether those who log challenge caches as found actually qualify and has documented this as is specified in the cache description. The service would identify violating logs and notify the cache owner who can then take action on bad logs.

As far as I can tell, Project GC already monitors new logs submitted and tries to monitor log edits. It should thus have the "toolbox" available to implement such a feature. I wouldn't mind it being a paying members only feature that you would have to activate first.

I know that that particular kind of challenge cache has been grandfathered now but it illustrates my point. Many people has not read the ALR properly and being a cache owner on such caches can be tedious work. I would write the scripts to do so myself but I lack the API access to do so.

Any thoughts on this? I know that it is a narrow use case in terms of audience but useful none the less :)

Distance calculation error in new cache notification email?

I know the new cache notification emails are still in beta mode, but I'm seeing something odd.

I hadn't paid attention to the distance and direction from home section until today. I would expect this would reflect the distance and direction from my home, which it does not appear to do.

We live in coastal Virginia, USA, at roughly N 37° 9' W 76° 34', and in our project-gc profile, home location is manually overridden, so it should not change.

The emails we have gotten have been way off in terms of how far these caches are from our home location, and it doesn't appear to make sense how the distance and direction are calculated.

GC7B9Q4 shows as 383.7 km from home (355° N), when according to geocaching.com, it should be over 5500 km from us, to the northeast. (A projected waypoint shows that the email thinks we live in the English Channel, along the ferry route from Dublin to Cherbourg.)

GC7B9PG shows as 1273.5 km from home (13° NNE), when it should be over 7000 km from us, to the northeast. (Projected waypoint from this one is just south of Palermo, Sicily.)

GC7B67Q shows as 3273.5 km from home (319° NW), when it should be 4000 km from us, to the northwest. (Projected waypoint is somewhere in the Mojave Desert, south of Las Vegas.)

Driving distance for all of these, by the way, is 0 km, 0 minutes.

Mail notification photos : size

Hello,

In the notification mail containing photos from logs (read with Gmail and/or Mailbird), these are in very large format (preventing them from seeing correctly, and preventing to see easily the right information including legend, coordinates, etc.).

Is it possible to resize these photos in the smaller email format?

Broken images (cache icons) in FP notification mails

In recent FP notificaton emails, the cache icon images are broken. It looks like "http:" is missing in the URLs.

Can I run a challenge checker for all found logs on my challenge cache?

I would like to run the challenge checker for all "found it"-logs on my challenge cache, to see if everyone qualifies. Not just for the last 10 logs.

An even better solution would be if project-gc could send me an email notification if anyone who does not qualify (according to the challenge checker) logs a "found it"-log on any of my challenge caches.

Request: Event Reminder Emails

Would love to get reminder emails for upcoming events I marked a will attend.

Since some events can be posted months in advance(and due to new event notifications I mark will attend right away, and have forgotten) a reminder email 2-5 days prior to the event would be sent on event caches you have marked a will attend. (this feature could be turned on or off)

After missing an event a couple weekends ago I realized there is no good way to see upcoming events besides looking at your will attend logs on GC. And it wasn't until afterwards and talking with a fellow cacher that I realized the event took place a couple days prior. I was free and at home and missed out on socializing with fellow cachers

Llinks from mail do TB-Rescue not work

When there is new TB around, I got a mail with link, for example this one:

The page loads, but the actual TB is not highlighted or anyhow marked. Also the clicking on the one bug or any other and clicking on "Rescue Mission" does not cause any action.

Can challenge checker send e-mail on logged find if not qualified?

Project-gc recently made it possible for CO's to get emails when people post photos that betray the location of the cache. This seems a cool feature that I have not encountered yet.

It would be nice if challenges, it notified folks if someone has issued a found log and according to the checker the cache has not been completed. The reason for using the word folks, is there seems to be several people who might be interested in getting this information. First the "faux finder" might want to get the information to correct their log. Secondly the CO might want it to either delete the log or see that the checker gets fixed. Additionally whoever tagged it might want to improve the tag. Finally the script author might feel the same way as the tagger. This seems a good tool to improve the quality of the checkers and the finds.

Daily/weekly email: New caches near you

How about a e-mailing option to send out caches published during the previous few days, like the event feature?

For example, every [sunday] I will get an email with all the [cache-types] published within [distance] km from my home coordinates during [last sunday to this saturday]. They would be shown on a map for easy overview.

For those that aren't aware, you can enable our newsletters by visiting settings at Project-GC. By clicking your username in the top right corner, and then settings. You need to add and verify an email address first.

Today I thought about a "Publish notifier" for specific owners as a nice to have feature.

Why? There are some owners who only place very nice caches. Not all of them are in my homezone but definitely worth visiting, so it would be nice if I could get an Email whenever they publish a new cache. (Also an Email once a week would be enough)

Usability of emails with notification from Q&A

Emails notifying about changes in Q&A are great, but would it be possible to make the links in HTML clickable or/and to make it more structured? Non-html version is fine, but HTML version is less useful. It adds only subject and large image, which is blocked by most of clients.

Proposing as feature requrest, since I know that this is third party software and not first priority. I can also post such a proposal to upstream if they woul accept such a change.

I used the button in the profile to verify my email adress, but I never received a mail in my mailbox. What can I do ?

Semi-empty FP notification emails

I've received two emails saying +1 favorite point Added but compared to older emails Cache name, DT, size and type is blank.

Looking at older emails I can see that on cache type this changed from 13th to 14th september:
