Weekly Event Notifications Instead of Daily

Currently, event notification emails are sent once per day. For my use case, it would be sufficient to receive the notification email only once per week (for example, every Monday).

Since events have to be created at least 14 days in advance anyway, a daily notification feels unnecessary and could be reduced to a weekly summary.

Event notifiers failing with Error Code 3

Hi, I am trying to create a new event notifier (for the entire Isle of Man), but I get an "Save failed, redirecting you back in 3 seconds" error message (sometimes but not always with an Error Code of 3).

I have tried this on different devices (Windows desktop, Apple desktop, and Android phone) and different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Safari) with the same result. The form is of course quite simple so I am pretty sure I am filling it out correctly (and I have another notifier for events in another entire country that works fine). In total I have 4 other notifiers, and I assume that a 5th one does not cross an unstated limit.

Any thoughts? Thanks, bejs

Could date filters be added to event notifications?

"I'm making plans to attend the Yuma Block Party in February. I created an event notifier for newly published events around Yuma, Arizona.

I want to be able to filter the notifier by dates to alert me of events happening closer to the date of the block party.

Could this feature be added?

Event Notifiers don't support multiple Region / County selection

You can fortunately select multiple event types when creating an event notifier, but I think there should be the option to also select at least Regions, maybe Counties too.

Use Case: I'm interested in CITOs in Switzerland, but only in the area near the Austrian border where I can go with public transport very cheaply.

That area is split up between 3-4 regions, so I would need to create multiple notifiers because I'm not interested in far away, more expensive to reach areas.

Event notification ics enhancement

Could we please have some more fields added to the calendar ics file that is linked in the Project-GC event notifier emails. Currently it tells me I am supposed to be somewhere but it does not say why. Or when. Could you please add these fields:

SUMMARY: Event name

DESCRIPTION: link to the event cache page (maybe also include full cache description (note that many characters need escaping, eg "," = "\," and crlf = "=0A")

Alarm

Time (might also require timezone IDs)

Example:

DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:https://coord.info/GCA1YAY=0A=0A01 January 2023\, 08:30 - 09:00
DTSTART;TZID=Pacific/Auckland;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20230101T083000
DTEND;TZID=Pacific/Auckland;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20230101T093000
BEGIN:VALARM
TRIGGER:-PT60M
ACTION:DISPLAY
DESCRIPTION:Alarm
END:VALARM

In case it helps, here is a ics file exported from c:geo, which works perfectly.

Event notifier current ics file:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
VERSION:2.0
PRODID:-//Project-GC//Event Notifiers//EN
BEGIN:VEVENT|
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20230212
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20230213
UID:GCA3EJY@project-gc.com
CREATED:20230106T1633thZ
DESCRIPTION:
LOCATION:S 40° 58.197 E 174° 58.713
ORGANIZER:Flowerydaze
X-MICROSOFT-CDO-BUSYSTATUS:FREE
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR

Feature request: Select multiple regions for event notification

As I like going a bit further afield for CITOs, I'd like to set up an event notifier for several regions (in the UK) - I'm based in the West Midands, so would like to create one that for (say) West Midlands/East Midlands/North Wales/South Wales. Setting it for the whole of the UK would give me too many outside my range. Any possibility this could be included?

Request: Event Reminder Emails

Would love to get reminder emails for upcoming events I marked a will attend.

Since some events can be posted months in advance(and due to new event notifications I mark will attend right away, and have forgotten) a reminder email 2-5 days prior to the event would be sent on event caches you have marked a will attend. (this feature could be turned on or off)

After missing an event a couple weekends ago I realized there is no good way to see upcoming events besides looking at your will attend logs on GC. And it wasn't until afterwards and talking with a fellow cacher that I realized the event took place a couple days prior. I was free and at home and missed out on socializing with fellow cachers

Feature request: add custom filters to event notifiers

Would it be possible to allow custom filters to event notifiers? For example, I'd like to be notified of any event in the UK with a terrain 5 rating.

Pre-populate location on Event Filter page

On the Event Notifier page, when adding a new notifier, you have the option to give in coordinates. Would it be possible to have a button there to populate that field with your home coordinates?
