Bug? Event host count wrong

On PGC my diamond badge says I have 77 events hosted (and need 13 to go up a level)
At Geocaching.com I have

All Event Cache Types	81
Event Cache	36
Cache In Trash Out® Event	43
Community Celebration Event	2

I have one event in progress (held tomorrow, 28 April) which might allow for one error.

Why is there a 4-5 event discrepancy between PGC and GC? Is there a bug in PGC's event counting?

Weekly Event Notifications Instead of Daily

Currently, event notification emails are sent once per day. For my use case, it would be sufficient to receive the notification email only once per week (for example, every Monday).

Since events have to be created at least 14 days in advance anyway, a daily notification feels unnecessary and could be reduced to a weekly summary.

Block Parties included in Badges

Can't view archived events?

Recently discovered that it is no longer possible to find or see archived events on the map? Tried several different filter settings, but nothing helps. Can't see either the events you have attended or the ones you missed. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Inconsistencies in the counting of events

Project-GC is not coherent in regard of those special names for Events every 5 years:

On the events folder all are counted, although CCE are not counted as such but as "Lost and Found", a type of event I've never done. Block-Parties are counted as BP.

On the badge pages it's completely different:

CCE are counted as ordinary events for the badge
BP are not counted at all as events, neither ordinary nor, as they should, as Mega
Both event types give an add-on for the Geocacher badge, if you visit one
Only CCE gives an add-on for the Event Host badge, if you host one, BP doesn't

This topic has come up several times here, but nobody seems to care about this inconsistencies.

In the wiki they are not even mentioned, only as "Geocaching HQ Block Party (formerly Groundspeak Block Party)", so as a kind of historical event. I've asked about that on the article talk page.

The year is now half through, but nothing has happened in this regard, no consistent answer was given, just some insisting on "a special type" for BP, but that's the same with CCE, which are treated completely different.

Edit for a wee bit more information:

I just looked up the stats of a well known event host and -visitor in this area here, lavette96:

On the badge page he's got:

1249 ordinary events
100 CITO
33 Mega
8 Giga
5 Maze

In sum that's 1395 visited events.

On his events page he's got:

1177 ordinary events
100 CITO
72 L&F
33 Mega
12 BP
8 Giga
5 Maze

In sum that's 1407 visited events.

The difference is 12, that's the visited BP events that are nowhere counted for the badges.

As a host he's got 104 events for the badge, and 104 different events, including BP, on his owner page, so here they are accounted for. But only the CCE give him an add-on for the event host badge (and Mega and CITO), but not BP, that's only for visiting at the Geocacher badge.

Update for 2026:

Sum is 1479

badge page:

1306 ordinary events
108 CITO
34 Mega
8 Giga

Sum is 1461

Difference is 18, and that's Blockparties, that are nowhere counted in the badges, as before.

How will blockparties, former known as Mega, be accounted for in the badge and belt statistics?

Hello,

if I've seen it right, the Mega I just took part in, in Hannover, that is named "Blockparty" this year, has not elevated my Mega-count yet. Is this a bug or a feature?

On our profile stats page under the events tab, please could you add a section for Attended by Year.

Within this section could it also change between showing all event types to showing each one individually, like when you select type on the calendar for Attended by event date.

Bug in Finds Tab vs. Events Tab or incomplete handling of data

Since the availability of the events tab in the profile stats I did not check for events in the finds tab but I think there is some kind of bug not taking into consideration all event types on the finds tab.

But let me explain:

Going to the Events tab of the profile stats you can see Attended by event date 366 matrix. This overview seems to incoporate all type of events no matter if the are GPS Maze, Event, Mega, Giga, CiTo, CCE etc.

This is what I expected.

However going to the Finds tab and going to the Finds by found date matrix you can select Events or CiTos, but all other types of events are not available in the type selection.

So this left we with the question:

- do we miss the options to select other non listed Event types

- should other (non CiTo) event types we summarized under the Event selection

- is this on purpose

- what will happen with the new batch of CCE Events and Blockparty in 2025

It might be that this is all on purpose and I am just not getting the idea behind it, but it crossed my mind for some time now.

T rating for events tab

Love the new "Events" tab on PGC - thanks for providing this. However human nature being what it is, if you provide something, we immediately want more!

A D/T grid wouldn't work on this tab, as all events now have to be D1 and it's not possible to fill the grid. However could a bar chart be provided for T ratings?

360 from home not counting events?

Hi team, is the 360 from home checker not counting events? As they don't show up in the tool. And the Wiki page doesn't mention which cache types are counted and which are not counted . . .

The icon for Community Celebration events is wrong

When searching for coming events and looking at type, "Community celebration events" turns up as "Lost and Found" event type instead... (I was so happy that it would be any of those, until I clicked the link ;-)

Coming Events means in the future so why I can select dates that are in the past?

Why not make the date range filter

To: Today + the max time a event can be published in the future?

Hi Team,

I see that the amount mentioned at the cache owner badge is much lower now than it used to be on the old version of BadgeGen. From looking at the details, I gather that events I organised are no longer included as caches I own. Is there a plan to add the events again?

And on top of that, are lab caches that I created (going to be) included? I can't see that from the details yet.

How do you prefer your geocaching events?

I'm a big fan of geocaching events, both when it comes to visiting them and arranging them. I'd like to know what others find to be most important for a good event.

Meeting other geocachers is a staple of events, obviously. Is that the main drawing point for you? If so, do you prefer to talk to your old caching friends or the new cachers that you haven't met before?
Is it important that there are new geocaches published in association with an event, or is that even a bad thing?
Many events involve food in some way: lunch events, coffee gettogethers, dinner gatherings, picknicks, etc. Is this a good thing or just a complication for those who want to eat at home and just meet people?
Some events are created to let people try something new (rock climbing, ice skating, juggling, etc). Is this a draw or a drag?
Is it important to place the event at a beautiful site (perhaps far into the woods) or is it more important that the site is easy to get to and accessible for all (public transport, paved paths, etc)?
Does the size of the event affect if you want to attend or not? Is less more, or bigger better?
What would make you definitely go to a particular event? What you make you definitely not go to a particular event?

These are just some ideas to get you going on what makes a good event for you. I'm interested in any comments, whether they are directly related to these questions or to something completely different.

Hide count discrepancy for future events

I've noticed that when I've organised a future event, there's a discrepancy in the count of my hides between the stats page and the stat bar. For example, my current stat bar shows 33 hides, whereas my stats page only shows 32. The difference is presumably an event I've just had published due to take place in October - the stats bar seems to include future event but the stats page doesn't. Is there any chance this could be resolved so that the pages are consistent? Thanks.

Request: Event Reminder Emails

Would love to get reminder emails for upcoming events I marked a will attend.

Since some events can be posted months in advance(and due to new event notifications I mark will attend right away, and have forgotten) a reminder email 2-5 days prior to the event would be sent on event caches you have marked a will attend. (this feature could be turned on or off)

After missing an event a couple weekends ago I realized there is no good way to see upcoming events besides looking at your will attend logs on GC. And it wasn't until afterwards and talking with a fellow cacher that I realized the event took place a couple days prior. I was free and at home and missed out on socializing with fellow cachers

Events on the map should show date instead of amount of FP

It is bogging me for some time when I see different events on the map(s) and I have no idea when they are taking place. Instead I see that the event has "0 FP (0%, 0W)", which is useless information (events can't get FPs).

Would it be possible to swap the FP information for date of the event to produce another bit of usability? I am particularly interested in the Live Map, but it might be useful even in the others map based tools.

Great use of multiple PGC tools

Not a question, just a comment:

Just after Christmas, I created a public bookmark on geocaching.com to list all events in the UK and Ireland scheduled to take place on leap day. At the time I thought, perhaps naively, that there wouldn't be more than a dozen or so. However the number soon exceeded that, and I realised it would not be practical to maintain the list manually.

Fortunately I stumbled across the Coming Events tool, and I realised I could use this. I set the filter to list all events type in multiple locations (UK/Ireland/Jersey/Guernsey/Isle of Man) hidden from 2016/02/29 to 2016/02/29. This gave a list which I could transfer to a new VGPS list. Finally, I could export that to my bookmark list. This only takes a couple of minutes, since the Coming Events filter remembers my choices from last time, so I go through the process a couple of times a day to keep the bookmark list up to date.

I post this in case anyone fancies trying this for their own country or state, and to say thanks for providing these excellent tools.

Incidentally, the present total of events is 122!

Feature request - coming events CITO/MEGA filter

Would it be possible to add a filter to the Coming Events tool to specify certain types of events only? E.g. to only show mega events (they tend to get swamped by the number of peripheral events happening in the area), or CITO only.

I would like to request a checker for GC5PPY5 (52 Weeks of Events).

hwen selekting "coming events" Denmark I get alle evets in Dk (thats OK) but when I selekte to get the events for "Denmark, syddanmark" I do not get anny thing I expekt to get at least 8 events
