Number of FTFs per country

We really enjoy chasing FTFs and I love Project-GC statistics. What I feel is missing from the FTF statistics is a list of countries where we've already logged an FTF. Currently, there's only a visual map representation.

I’d love to see a table or list of countries with at least one FTF, including at least the number of FTFs per country and — optionally — what percentage of my total FTFs each country represents. In the Maps tab, there is at least some form of a list below the world/continent map, sorted from the highest number of (general) finds to the lowest.

Is there already a way to see this data somewhere on Project-GC? If not, I’d love to suggest it as a future improvement.

I notice that in the Profile Stats / Found / Finds By Found Date grid that if you have an FTF on that date the value is shown in black. This is very nice. But this is not the case in the D/T grid on that same page. Any reason for this? Sorry if this has been asked, I did search for it.

With BadgeGen you can see in which countries you've found an FTF. But is there a way to see this on a map as well, on country, region and/or county scale?

Greetings, I am trying to figure out how to display the different days of the year that I have achieved a FTF. I have 138 FTF's and would love to someday fill in the whole calendar with a FTF for each day. I've done a lot of digging and cannot figure out how to have this information displayed under my profile stats or FTF section of Project GC. Any help would be most appreciated. Bug: FTF tags within encoded logs

I have a FtF that is not showing up in my "FTF List" on PGC and I suspect that this is because the tag is contained within the [don't encrypt this text] portion of the encrypted log.

If I add {SgS} outside of the [don't encrypt this text] section then it gets encrypted to {FtF} as expected and passed to PGC and all is well with my count :)
But {FtF} inside the [don't encrypt this text] section doesn't work.

The FTF List page says "...tag your logs with one of these tags: {*FTF*} {FTF} [FTF]".
Is this last tag with square brackets part of the problem with respect to the [don't encrypt this text] section using square brackets as well?

Minor bug: Lab cache FTFs

Under the sections Statistics > Profile Statistics > FTF > First FTF by Cache Type and FTF by Type the page states including n lab caches, which is my total lab cache find count.

Firstly, most of the lab caches I have found are not FTFs, so this figure is incorrect, and secondly, PGC is unable to determine FTFs in lab caches so the statement should not be included anyway.

Please remove Including n lab caches. It has no meaning here.

FTF list not working

I started an FTF list on geocaching.com because it was not showing my FTFs properly (keeps saying I have an FTF that most certainly wasn't), with my correct FTFs on it, however it is still showing this wrong cache on the FTF tab (this was made a while ago, I just added to the list so noticed). What is going on?

Would it be absurdly difficult to have a version of the Maps page that reflects only FTF's? I'd been attempting to get an FTF in each (broadly defined) local county, and the lack of a visual guide was a nuisance.

My FTF list at GC has always correctly driven my stats at PGC. This week, however, I found five FTFs and diligently added them to my list at GC. However, the count has only gone up three at PGC, when I refresh the data. Why is that? It's never been out of sync before, and I've done nothing differently.

My "Forgotten FTFs?"-list shows lots of logs that are STFs, TTFs or even other logs that are no FTFs.
Is it possible to mark these logs somehow so they don't pop up in this list anymore?

This list is extremely useful to check every now and then but as time goes by it just gets longer and longer. I'd like to see a way to mark current caches on list as checked. So that next time when I'm visiting the page I'd only see caches I've logged after the last time.

This applies also to the Forgotten FTFs? page.

As the full FTF list has disappeard from the FTF tab, I thought I'd add my list to the milestones tab instead. However when I try to add a list, I put my name next to "Bookmark list", click "Get bookmark lists", but the dropdown menu it provides is blank. I have several publicly available lists (including my FTF list), so I can only assume this is a bug. Tried in Firefox and IE.

I have read the FAQs that relate to FTF.

I have created a bookmark list of my 238 FTFs. However, in my profile stats, I'm shown as having 240 FTFs. I'm guessing that, in addition to the bookmark list caches, two of my caches have logs that, inadvertently, have a supported 'tag'? Comments?

It would be useful to know all the supported tags. (The FAQ only mention some.)

Is there any easy way to identify the extra two caches that shouldn't be in the list? (So I can edit my logs.)

Is a cache visible before it is actually published?

I have placed a new cache and it was published today.

I set it to premium member only and so i am able to see the audit log.

The cache was published on 03.09.2018, at 08:01.

In the audit log i expected only to see the reviewer and myself.

But in the log are 50+ cachers who visited my cache since 02.09.2018, 23:01. They are all regional cachers.

Is there a way to see the cache before it was published? Or is there a way to get the GC Codes, that will be published within the next hours?

I have a dilemma.

Yesterday, we found our 1000th (and 1001-1005) FTF. (I know, horrible dilemma ).

I use GSAK to track my FTFs but also had a bookmark lists so project-gc would detect them. I haven't tagged the logs with the [FTF] etc.

But... now, the 1000 limit for a bookmark list is preventing me from marking the 10001+ caches as FTFs.

I see only a few solutions, but would love to hear of others.

1. Go back and edit 1000 logs to add the tag (ugh)
2. Create a second bookmark list, but project-gc only recognizes one as authoritative. I could ask for a new feature to allow for additional lists.
3. Live with it.

Any other suggestions?

Feature Request: Additional Stats on FTF Tab

On the Finds tab of the Profile Stats, we have all sorts of useful charts and graphs.

On the FTFs tab however, there isn't much.

I would like to request the following be added to the FTFs tab:

Cumulative FTFs by month
FTFs by month per year
FTFs by type
FTFs by size
FTFs by found date

Although arguments could probably be made in favour of many other bits from the Finds tab, the above are the ones that I am most interested in seeing on the FTFs tab. Note that they would behave exactly the same as on the Finds tab, but would only consider FTFs.

Shared FTF Bookmark List, But Not Public

I keep a bookmark list of my FTFs that is "shared" so that anybody can see it by clicking on the link in my GC profile, but it's not "public". I don't see a need to have the bookmark list appear on every cache page in the list, as I'm not looking for attention or any kind of recognition. I'd just like to see the FTF numbers in my stats. I know that the cache logs could be tagged so that the bookmark list isn't necessary, but I don't want to go back and edit hundreds of cache logs to put the FTF tags in them.

Could it be changed so that the bookmark lists only have to be "shared" and not require them to be "public"? Since shared lists are accessible to anyone, I can't see there being an issue with doing this.

FTF list missing caches

I have a small issue with my FTF list. I have an FTF geocoin that 'visits' each cache I FTF. Today I was tidying up a visit I'd made in error when I noticed my coin logs didn't match my FTF list numbers. I found three duplicate logs on the coin so deleted the extras but the coin still had 96 FTF logs to project-gc's 93 FTFs. I've tracked it down to three caches that I did get FTF on. All three are logged with {FTF} in the log, though 2 were encrypted logs (the {FTF} was in the unencrypted part), and all three are now archived (though other archived caches show up fine). Two date from 2008 and one from 2014.
I've edited the logs to unencrypt them but this hasn't helped. The caches involved are https://coord.info/GC1EEWB

I have used a public bookmark list for my FTFs up to now but I will probably reach the 1000 cache limit soon. I would prefer not to have to start remembering to include special tags in my logs. Is there any possibility of having a second bookmark list linked to my profile? Or is tagging the only way forward?

Map Compare bug when owner FTF available

I have two caches GC6XF8P and GC7D73Y which have a FTF available. When I do a map compare ticking owner found these two show up in "none found" group.

I assume the logic is checking if any logs and if zero then instantly marking as in "none found" category rather than checking if it is owned by any of the accounts being compared.

Any possibility to exclude mass FTFs from statistics?

It has become more and more common that organisers of events allow every participant to log all caches of the event as FTF. While I appreciate the good intentions of this – to make events more sociable and avoid the frenzy of the first hour(s) –, it completely devalues any FTF statistics. People who frequently attend big events get hundreds of (fake) FTFs in a short time. This, of course, is nonsense, and consequently the "Top FTF"-statistics are now dominated by colleagues who have long series of such mass FTFs, which makes these statistics absolutely worthless, spoiling, to a certain extent, the fun of genuine FTF hunt.

Thus, my suggestion / request: would it be possible to determine for each cache how many people have logged an FTF and exclude from all FTF-related statistics those where more then let's say 3 or maybe 5 people have done so? Ideally one could maybe add a tick box "include mass FTFs" so that those who want this could still see the statistics in the current, meaningless version.

A PS to all event organisers who may read this: a much better approach to achieve the same goal – if you want to – would be to establish the rule that NO FTFs should be claimed on any cache of the event.

What happens - or better asked - what should happen if the first find of a new cache occasionally happens before this cache is published?

My questions are:

- When shall this find be logged (I suppose on the day of the find) ?

in the logbook of the cache
on the listing page of the cache (which is only available AFTER publishing); so this might be a part of the answer to my question
as far as I know none of the available apps supports this!

- Is this then a FTF ?

is this conform with the geocaching.com rules???

I have created a Public bookmark of my FTFs. The bookmark appears in the drop-down box on the Settings page, but it doesn't hold the bookmark name; i.e. I must enter it every time I access the Settings page.
If I reload the Settings page, my FTF Bookmark is gone.

When I request list of My FTFs, none are displayed.

Any help appreciated.

I just wanted to write about something I noticed today. One of the tags for automatic detection of FTFs is {*FTF*} but now with the Markdown in logs anything within one let of asterisks will be put in italics. Will Project GC still detect this?

With the increase of power-trails (against which I am not), the ranking of FTFers promotes more and more members of teams who inaugurate in group huge series to the detriment of the lonely FTF hunters which are flocking to new caches every days.

I therefore reiterate my suggestion of a new stat that would count the number of different DAYS with FTF. Not to be confused with the number of different DATES with FTF already existing below the table "Found by date".

This new statistics would recognize a FTF made on January 3, 2015 and another made on January 3, 2016 as two different DAYS with FTF and not as a single DATE.

We could then obtain an additional ranking that would distinguish FTFers of every days and a little less FTFers of few inaugural days.

To be perfectly clear, I have nothing against a geocacher that is before me at "Top FTF" ranking (happy for him) but I would find interesting that another statistic put in value my 268 days with a FTF compared to its 67 days with a FTF.

Who is the most FTF addict of both? ;-)

I think this statistic would not be too difficult to generate, so thank you to consider this request favorably for 2016. ;-)

Avec l'augmentation des power-trails (contre lesquels je ne suis pas), le classement des PATeurs favorise de plus en plus les membres des équipes qui inaugurent en groupe d'énormes séries au détriment des chasseurs solitaires de PAT qui se ruent sur les nouvelles caches tous les jours.

Je réitère donc ma suggestion d'une nouvelle stat qui comptabiliserait le nombre de JOURS différents avec un PAT. À ne pas confondre avec le nombre de DATES différentes avec un PAT qui existe déjà en dessous du tableau "Trouvées par date".
Cette nouvelle statistique considérerait un PAT fait le 3 Janvier 2015 et un autre fait le 3 Janvier 2016 comme deux JOURS différents avec un PAT et non comme une seule DATE.
Nous pourrions ainsi disposer d'un classement complémentaire qui distinguerait les PATeurs de tous les jours et un peu moins les PATeurs de quelques journées inaugurales.

Pour être parfaitement clair, je n'ai rien contre un geocacheur qui est devant moi au classement "Le plus de PATs" (très heureux pour lui) mais je trouverais intéressant qu'une autre statistique mette en valeur mes 268 jours avec un PAT comparé à ses 67 jours avec un PAT.

Qui est le plus PAT Addict des deux ? ;-)

Je pense que cette statistique ne serait pas trop difficile à générer, aussi merci d'examiner favorablement cette demande pour 2016. ;-)

Why is my FTF total so low weeks after I went through and added [FTF] or {FTF} to the logs?

I have over 50 FTFs. But for the longest time only three of them were counted in the stats. I learned that this was the case because I had not used [FTF] or {FTF} in their logs.

<tangent> This begs the question: why did it detect those three at all? </tangent>

Anyway, I learned about the [FTF] or {FTF} log trick three weeks ago and went through the FTF checker, identified my FTFs and edited their logs accordingly. Since then, the total has ratcheted up by one or two (even between weekly refreshes - which I don't understand) every few days. I was waiting to pose this question to see if the whole lot of them would come in after last week's weekly refresh, but it only crept up to 12. I wasn't sure why there were about 40 outstanding FTFs with {FTF} leading off the first line of the found it log. I thought maybe I could speed things along by adding another {FTF} at the end of each log just to make sure, but that hasn't changed anything after this morning's refresh. It's only up to 16 now.

Yes, I could make a bookmark list, but this is supposed to be a more automatic way because I can add the special [FTF] notation in the field. The FTF I found last night is one of the 16 on my stats page this morning, in fact.

And yes, I am not yet a paying member. I'm playing with the system to see if I want to use it as my primary stats tool. I know I only get a once-weekly refresh, but I'm assuming my refresh is of the same quality I'd get if I was paying and getting it once per day. I'm considering this a test drive.

I afford to re-submit a suggestion because my first submission was not well understood and the answers did not really fit my question. I hope to be clear enough this time. ;-)

To be as clear as possible let's take an example :

If you made a FTF on March, 14th 2013 and another one in March, 14th 2014, in the "Finds by find date" section it will count for only one date : March, 14th.

In my request it will count for two different days so you may really see how many different days a FTF addict was successfully in action since he start geocaching.

With this feature the ranking could be a little bit different and it would put more value in those who do not hesitate to often go out for FTF hunting compared to those who sometimes register tens of FTF in one day during an event for example.

Similarly, I'm not the only one to think that 100 FTFs realised in 100 different days is a little bit more difficult to achieve than 100 FTFs realised the opening day of a power-trail of 100 caches. ;-)

I think it would be a complementary ranking to those that already exist and may not be to difficult to implement.

Statistics about FTF are very complete but I dare a suggestion:

More than the number of FTF done (which can rise very quickly with the FTF during events or power-trails inaugurations) I think that what characterizes a real "FTF hunter" is the number of times he's gone hunting successfully.

Les statistiques concernant les FTF sont très complètes mais j'ose une suggestion :

Plus que le nombre de FTF réalisés (qui peut grimper très vite avec les FTF pendant les events ou les inaugurations de power-trails) je pense que ce qui caractérise un véritable "chasseur de FTF" c'est le nombre de fois où il est parti à la chasse avec succès.

Aussi serait-il possible de créer une statistique qui comptabiliserait tous les jours différents où l'on a fait au moins un FTF (pas seulement sur les 366 journées calendaires ce qui existe déjà) ?

I know the FTF is not supported by Groundspeak. But what a joy to hunt FTF. Therefore there is often a podium TFT / STF / FTT.

In "Profile"> "List of FTF" and "FTF forgotten" as well as personal statistics, would it be possible to add the management of STF and TTF?

Not all my F2Fs are registering on F2F tab

Only 22 of my 135 F2Fs are showing on the F2F tab. I use the same F2F 'string' each time I log a F2F so I am not sure why this is happening. Any suggestions? Anyway to force Project-GC to recognize these?
