Thunderforest maps via mapproxy.project-gc.com Error 530 from cloudflare

Since some weeks I observe that the Thunderforest map layers in livemap are no longer displayed.

I tracked this down today and noticed, that the Thunderforest map tiles are requested from https://mapproxy.project-gc.com, which currently doesn't serve maps but always returns 530 error from cloudflare.

Take for example the following request:

You can observe the same in the browser developer tools. 530 return code to all mapproxy.project-gc.com requests and no Thunderforest maps displayed.

Edit: I tested this with Firefox as well as with Chromium (with the same problem).

In the Live map there is a search function and you can read in the info that a gccode search might come in the future. I think that it would be nice to be able to search for coordinates and have the live map center on that coordinates.

live map filter reset required

Hi,

Every time I enter Live Map, a certain set of filters are applied by default (specific cache types and favorite scores). This particular set of filters was for a specific trip, but for some reason, they have become my permanent defaults and I need to reset these very time. Is this is known issue, and if so is there a way to reset this behavior ?

"Save Filters between sessions" is NOT selected.

Mystery cache with corrected coordinates not showing up when bogus coordinates are outside visible range.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it was intentionally done this way.
I know that mystery caches that have corrected coordinates on the geocaching.com site will show up on the Project-GC live map at the corrected coordinates.
However, I have just noticed that if I move or zoom in such that the original/bogus coordinates are outside the visible part of the map, but the corrected coordinates are in the middle of my screen, the cache disappears from the map.

So could it be that it shows the loaded caches at their corrected coordinates but only loads the caches of which the original/bogus coordinates are on the visible map section ?

live map is not showing all caches

Hi
When showing the live map for eom place,not all caches are shown.
All Filters, except "Exclude my finds" and "Exclude my hides ", are reset.

This shows me 7 Caches in the Center of the map:

Can't see overseas caches on live map

Like I'm sure many others I'm planning a trip to the US later this year for the 20 years of geocaching events. I'm trying to use the live map to filter out caches that I want to see but it isn't returning any caches. Is there something that stops this working in the US because I live in Australia?

I want to use the live map as it allows me to filter on things such as altitude.

I am getting the message "Failed to retrieve data" when using Live Map. Is that just me or is there a fault?

live map: live filter for caches not already picked into current VGPS

When in live map over an area where I have a VGPS for, I need a function to exclude all caches that are already in the current VGPS. For the remaining caches I can then manually decide whether I want to pick them into the current VGPS or not. Is this filtering function available? If not, what alternative approach could be used to achieve the same goal?

Hi,

It would be nice to have a possibility to add locations to a VPGS and live map that would be clearly marked on the map. For example, when planning a trip, I would save the hotel and other important locations on the map as reference points and then can study the caches around them.

Maybe by importing a saved map from google maps?

More exact elevation bound input @ Live Map

The Live Map currently uses sliders to set the lower and upper bounds for Elevation. This is not very practical when trying to set the elevation to a certain exact interval. In my case, I'm looking for caches with an elevation between 750 and 800 m. I did manage to set the bounds accordingly by zooming deep into the webpage, so that the 'bound resolution' increases, but this is hardly practical.

A better way IMO would be to have companion numerical input boxes for the lower and upper bounds.

live map filters do not respond to touch events

As previously discussed in the other QA and I finally found a way how to reliably reproduce this issue (while working on other projects), I am starting a new bug report.

The functionality is fine with normal "click" events on computer, but the "touch" events are not registered. There is simple way to reproduce it with Chromium browser:

Open the Live Map page: https://project-gc.com/Tools/LiveMap
Press Ctrl+Shift+I to open developer console
Press Ctrl + Shift + M to toggle device toolbar
The screen should shrink to smaller and instead of mouse pointer, there should be "touch" pointer (larger circle)
Open the "Live filters" and try to move "Favorite points" scrollbar

Current result:

The value is not changed.

Expected result:

The value should have been adjusted even from "touch" events.

Live Map Filter/Settings Not Responding

Picked up a new Chromebook and I'm having the same issue described here: https://project-gc.com/qa/?qa=9777/livemap-menus-do-not-open-in-chrome-49-0-2623-87-m-64-bit&show=9777#q9777

I've tried deleting all cookies and browsing data but still can't get any of the sidebar icons to respond on the live map. The URL changes instead to "https://project-gc.com/Tools/LiveMap#filter" which it doesn't do when using a different laptop and nothing happens so I'm unable to use the filter (or anything else on the sidebar).

Everything is at the latest version on the chromebook so that shouldn't be an issue. Besides deleting cookies and browsing data is there anything else that might be causing this issue?

Add DNF icon and Solved Puzzle icon to live map

Geocaching.com has recently made some changes to their map. It includes the addition of icons for Solved Puzzles and caches with a DNF posted by the user. I was wondering if we could get these features added to the live map on PGC.

With Chrome's new requirement for location services only being available on a secured http connection (https) there are some thing that do not work in the Live Map. Finding your location does work now, but search does not. Also, in https mode none of the options on the left-hand menu (filter, etc.) show up and in http mode they show up but nothing happens when you click.

If I access the livemap via SSL link https://project-gc.com/Tools/LiveMap the menu icons on the left (filter, settings, info, menu) are invisible.

Accessing the livemap via HTTP as http://project-gc.com/Tools/LiveMap the icons are shown.

Okay, I could always use the HTTP link, but at least the greasemonkey browser extension always links to the HTTPS page.

Tested this with Firefox on Linux and Windows.

Add circles on Live Map ?

should it possible to add a tool in the live map which permits to show the 161m circles around caches ? The GS official tool is pretty useless to looking for free areas for a trail.

Today, i'm using Floop's Map but i have to input each cache... so long for a complete area ;)

It appears that Thunderforest would like to have an API key if Project-gc are to continue using them as a map tile service.

The problem is the same with the "Transport" and the "Landscape" variants of Thunderforest.

A feature request: I it is indeed very nice that the live map tool has a setting that allows the user to select a default tile layer for the underlying map so that one may have it set to for example OpenStreetMaps as default whenever the live map is opened.

It would seem, however, that the other map-based tools such as the D/T Matrix map tool lacks that option, making it default to Google Road.

My feature request is then to introduce either:

A per-map-based-tool setting for which tile layer is used on all map-based tools - or if that is too cumbersome to implement,
A global setting for all map-based tools other than the live map - or
One global map tile layer setting (controlled from whereever) that is then the default choice for all map-based tools

Would that be doable? Are there any significant drawbacks of having a setting like that? Is there any chance of having either of the above implemented?

Ignored List on Live Map?

Hi,

I've been converted to the Project GC live map after the awful changes to the geocaching.com map. I've got to say, the PGC live map is awesome!

The only things that's missing is the blocking of ignored caches showing up on the map. Is there any way to block certain caches? Even if I have to re-do the list? It's frustrating to see the map littered with caches I'm not interested in and challenges I've perhaps found but don't qualify for.

Live Map not showing caches (too many on zoom=17)

During my visit to Prague, I noticed, that Live map fails to show caches with warning

Moving the map little bit to the north shows around 20 caches, but the log reports

Which looks like the map is picking up a big tiles from surrounding area (city center) and it is exceeding some internal limit. Therefore the map is basically unusable (I agree that Prague is probably the place with highest density of caches all around).

Would it be possible to check what can go wrong in these places, that the map is not pulling too many geocaches and that the map is usable in such places?

Can you adjust the location of 'live enabled' on the map?

The 'Live Enabled' button covers the map layers menu when it expands. Can you please adjust the location of these on the map so they do not cover each other? Thanks!

Filter types in live map not working?

I searched for an answer to this but didn't find it so here I am.

It seems that filtering by type of cache on the live map (by selecting or deselecting the icons on the filter tab and hitting "Apply") does nothing.
The other filters, like favorite points or own/found caches work just fine.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I tried this both on Chrome and Firefox, both on Linux and Android. The behavior is exactly the same.
I have a premium membership at geocaching.com, no membership here.

Live Map Issues

I submitted a request before but have not been able to get a follow-up response to it.

I continue to have issues using the live map in Chrome. When I browse to the non https version the map will come up but no menus work and the location finder throws the error that all do in Chrome now that are not on https. If I access the live map using https link the map won't come up.

Is there a fix in the works for this? I prefer using Chrome over FF.

I would like to suggest to add the possibility to store favorite locations. I regularly go to the same few location on the map and needing to do the same searches again and again is ok, but not very fast.

When I have the Live Map open in Chrome and I try to open the filters list, or any of the other options nothing happens. I do not have the same issue in Firefox.

Hi,

if I run Live map in Chrome (49.0.2623.87 m (64-bit)) the menus for Filters and settings do not open when I click on the icons. I tried to disable all add-ins without success.

In IE11 it's working but I prefer Chrome. Any idea what the cause could be?

Live map shown on Android phone with bigger icons for geocaches

The LIVE map looks great on a computer.

When I browse on my Android phone with a standard browser, the geocache icons are very small.

Zooming in decreases the map area, but the icons are still very small.

How can I zoom in (or scale) so that the icons are shown bigger?

Actually. I love the Live Map on project-gc. I was wondering if it is possible to include the other tools on the page in the live map so that we eventually will have only one source to search for the things we need.

We could show only the caches we need to complete the D/T matrix
Search for spesific attributes
Add caches to the list in the same way we do on the county/state maps and other maps. I miss the buttons with the green plus or red minus next to a phone, the circle and the tool to mark an area and include all caches in that area.
I want to choose a spesific country, state or county.

I know it is a lot to ask. But I believe many tools could be included in the Live Map to save both time and resources :)

Winter safe caches in the Live Map?

As I am living high up in the north of Norway the landscape is covered with snow these days. I would like to sort out the caches that are winter safe in the live map.

First of all. Thank you for the tool: Live Map. It is perfect for my search of caches, live and running. I would like to sort by attributes on this map. Especially searching for winter safe caches. But perhaps someone else would like to search for tree climb caches or dive caches. Or someone is trying to find missing attributes. Is this something that is in the making? Or is it something worth considering?

I know that the live map is still in progress, but I can't have it working fine...

When I launch the map, it says that I have to zoom in because there is too many caches to display. If I zoom in from this point, the map stops working, and I have to reload the page.

I tried to zoom in with the "+" button or with my mouse wheel, but it has the same effect.

I tried with Firefox and with Google Chrome : same problem.

I found a solution : moving the map to another point where there is less caches, zoom there, and get back to the previous zone...

Is this problem a known issue ?

archived caches on Live Map

Why I got shown caches on the live map of project gc , which are archived for 2 months? GC543RG is archived since end of September. Is it a bug or or an issue of data caching?

Can we have corrected coordinates to show in Live Map please?

I know about the issues with corrected coordinates, and that these sometimes can't be downloaded from GC.com . But can we have a selectable option to show the corrected coordinates for multis and mysteries in the Live Map, provided these are available?

In recent days, the Live Map does not work (as before though).

The card is white.

When I click on the left menu, there is also no appears.

The integrated development console Chrome shows:
