Can I find my logs that are shorter/longer than X words?

On my profile stats page I can see shortest and longest log lengths by words. Is there a feature anywhere that would enable me to search the logs by word length?

find before publish - when to log, is this a FTF, are there existing rules?

What happens - or better asked - what should happen if the first find of a new cache occasionally happens before this cache is published?

My questions are:

- When shall this find be logged (I suppose on the day of the find) ?

in the logbook of the cache

on the listing page of the cache (which is only available AFTER publishing); so this might be a part of the answer to my question

as far as I know none of the available apps supports this!

- Is this then a FTF ?

is this conform with the geocaching.com rules???

Could it be possible to include disabled cache in "Logs Received Over Time"

suggestion

When selecting an owner, and get placed caches from this owner, i don't get the disabled on (nor archived) that would be nice to include it at minimum in the specifcally selected cache, or to have the same flag to include or not archived, disabled, or generally re-use same filtering scheme;

thanks for big work and availability and responsiveness of system

Hello!

I would like to check whether user x has logged geocache y AND I want to see all the log entries of this user for this geocache.

Is this possible with project-gc?

If not:

Please consider adding a feature where username and cache-code is entered and the result is a list of all logentries which the user has written in the caches logbook.

Thanks,
Christian

Groundspeak denies multiple FI logs

Maybe you catched new change of rules (valid from 8th May 2017)

Cache owners will no longer be able to log a Find, DNF, Webcam Photo Taken, Needs Archived, or Needs Maintenance on their owned caches. However, event owners can log an Attended or Will Attend on their own events.

Players will no longer be able to log more than 1 (one) Find, Attended, Webcam Photo Taken, or Will Attend per cache. Players will still be able to change a Write Note to a Find if they have not already logged a Find on the cache.

These changes are not retroactive. Past logs are not affected.

So until that date we can clean logs with perfect tool Find Bad Logs from Project-GC and then will be everything watched by Groundspek directliy (finaly).

Did PGC stop this tool or it still remains in menu ?

Challenge checkers without cache list (statistics or fancy features not provided by PGC itself)

It is known, that the challenge checkers are not used only for creating challenge checkers, but also as a database for statistics or searching for special caches or logs, because of awesome possibilities of the scripting language.

I know there are challenge checkers to search for shortest logs and similar (by Target.?) but also other scripts. I saw some of them posted here in the QA, but no complete list and I believe many people don't even know about this possibility (which is unfortunate). I also understand that it is somehow gray ground so if there will understand if there will not be a will to aggregate them. But it is worth the attempt :)

Is there a list of such checkers or would it make sense to create such, on this QA or somewhere on the site? On "virtual" GCcode?

TBrescue - I can't create a log

I open the map with missions. I open a random mission. I click button - create a log. The new space for wrighting appears. I close the mission.

Then I open another different mission. I click button - create a log. Nothing happens.

Another different mission - also nothing happens.

When I go back to mission I opened first - all is ok.

Then when I refresh the page and open random mission is ok to create a log but again only in first opened mission. Next missions also shows nothing.

Markdown: features not supported

As many of our checker results produce a table of qualifying finds, I looked at converting mine to produce markdown tables. But alas, Groundspeak's implementation of Markdown has "extra mode" turned off, so:

Tables are not supported
Footnotes are not supported
Abbreviations are not supported
Embedded HTML is not supported

However, although tables are not supported directly, monospaced font is, so we can still make tables the hard way. Either:

Delimit the data with backticks: `this text will be monospaced`

or:

Indent with 4 spaces or a tab: This is a normal paragraph.

    This will be a preformatted
    code block.

Hope this helps!
Converter to convert BBCode/HTML to Markdown in logs

As Groundspeak announced that it will switch the Markup-Code, in which logs has to be formatted, from BBCode/HTML to Markdown, a Tool would be helpful to convert old logs to new formatting - sure this could only be half-automated.

Maybe GS will add something like this but if not, this would be a nice feature to have on Project-GC.

Average received log lengths

In our South Austrlalia facebook group we once again had a discussion about bad logs eg just writing TFTC.

Many commented that generally 'the better the cache, the better/longer the log will be'.

There are many metrics about cache quality (FP, FP%, Wilson). A new measure could be 'Average log length'. It would be great to see a new stat displaying this. Also by graphing the average length by CO, you can determine who's caches are generally best appreciated.

This stat is already available by cache name in the profile stats ('Hides' tab under "Log Length, words:" ) so it may be relatively easy to create a graph for this metric.

Finding long log entries

I would like to suggest a new feature which lets us find long log entries on a per cache basis.

It could be like this:

Enter a caches GC-code and then the minimum number of characters / words a log entry should contain.

Result would be a list of log entries for this cache, sortable by length or date.

Publication of logs

	[ ENGLISH ]

	Hello,

Is it possible to make a mass of logs publishing tool?

For this, the page ask to choose the geocache_visits.txt of GPS (so Garmin).

And then the ability to edit / modify these visits with models of features (templates) to pre-fill the logs (eg "#<num> - <date> <time> - Thanks <owner> !" ) then it will be enough to change to complement and make beautiful logs.

	Thanks !

	[ FRANCAIS ]

		Bonjour,

		Merci !

	Hello,

But sometimes finders add images. And I never notice for this.
