Automatic "signature" on every geocache you log??

We recently changed our geocaching name after 15,000 finds - which means we now have a lot of geocaches around the world with our former geocaching name on the logsheets.

We thought we read that on project gc we could create a "signature" that would appear at the end of every future cache we log that would say something like "Formerly known as <prior caching name>"

We looked all around our profile, etc and searched the Q&A boards but couldn't find out how to do this or if it is even possible.

Does anyone know and, if so, can you direct us to how to do this?

Thanks!

Do you PM after deleting a found log?

I have the gnawing feeling I have had a couple of my found logs deleted (as opposed to having forgotten to log them). I cant see any valid reason why the logs would be deleted. I signed the log for both. One is a trad, the other is a mystery (that log had a pic attached, it was stripped of all metadata and gave nothing away, it was actually a picture of the building at the marked co-ordinates and wasnt taken from GZ). I'm pretty confident I havent done anything to justify having a log deleted, but if there is something amiss I wouldnt mind knowing....

Is there a way of using ProjectGC to find out if I definitely logged a cache if the log has been deleted?

What's the fastest way to log a great number of finds?

Most of the times I write a general log of a tour that I did. Or about a whole caching day.
But I find it very time consuming to copy past & open all the caches to log them all. (50+ caches or so)
Isn't there a faster way to log a list?

What do you think about logging an First to find immediately or not?

I think it should be part of the game, to tell the community, that the "hunt" is done.

Sometimes I wonder, what the idea is, to wait for a long time to get it done?

I myself want to know it, when my own new "baby" has been spotted first time, not only because of the reason that it is done, but also because the hide is to be found.

After the first Found is done, I understand, if one does only saves an field note in order to write a good Log. But at the "hunt" itself i think it is fair thing to all the other hunters.

What do you think about that?

Feel free to answer or respond about that, or even think about it.

So Good Luck and may the next FTF be yours!!

How/When do you log challenges?

Hi folks

Recently we were wondering about on which date we should log a signed challenge online.

Since challenges may be logged even before meeting them we also do it now and then. E.g. if we are about to reach it or if the challenge is very far away from home. We then put a WN online, telling the owner that we signed the logbook but do not meet the challenge.

But what do you think what date is reasonable to log it online after fullfilling it? We recently saw some chachers changing there original WN from signing day into a found it and writing a new WN saying the did so. Others - and that's what we did by now - are simply logging it on that day they fullfill it.

I think both behaviours can be indecated as reasonable, so we decided to asked the community here about your opinion

Happy hunting
Team Just-T

Logging event rules change ?

Hello all

i was a little far from geocaching last weeks but i've got a strange issue on GC today : i want to log an event and it's impossible. The logging page just propose to write a note.

I've done a "will attend" few weeks ago, as usual, and now, the event page is like i've attended (the event was this morning).

I'm not able to find any info on that on GC blog or forum but i wonder if it's the same for everybody ?

What do fellow cachers think about Groundspeaks new web site "Logging" screen?

I personally feel the new web based logging screen is a step backwards for the geocaching community. Though you can opt out of the new format when logging a find directly from the cache page, you cannot opt out when logging from uploaded field notes (Drafts) from a GPS'r or a Smartphone app.

What I see missing with the new cache logging page:

- No text editing capabilities

- No emojis

- Not able to insert a caption for a picture

- Not able to upload multiple pictures

- No ability to visit "all" trackables

- No indication of how many favorites you have remaining

- Needs maintenance notification to simplistic

- No ability to mark a cache for "Needs Archived"

- Inefficient screen layout

- It appears Groundspeak is trying to make the web site look like their new Smartphone App.

I look forward to reading the thoughts of others (good and bad) regarding this "new" web based cache logging screen.

Group logging under common nick

What do you think about group logs - I mean group of people go for hunt and makes one common nick for logging (in most cases names shortcut etc.) to be quicker. Sometimes powertrail owners allow this due space saving in logbook and then people from that group log individually on gc.com. But I know about cases where geocachers make own shorten nick and just tells cache owners this are we, who loggend so.
In my opinion is this way of logging at least discutable as geocaching rules says that geocacher should left his/her signature in logbook and then online on gc.com...

Logging of earthcaches

Just wondering which date people use when they are logging earthcaches. I tend to visit a site on one date, work out the answers at home some time later and then send the information to the CO, which is sometimes another date again. I use the date that I work out the answers as my 'found date' because that's when it feels I've completed the cache.

Now I know there's not going to be a rule as such, but I'd be interested to know which date other people use on these caches where there's nothing physical to sign and date.

How about a way to see what DNFs you've logged that have/haven't been avenged?

It would be really cool to have a way to see what DNFs you've logged that have/haven't been avenged. Additional details about how many times you've DNF'd it and how the duration of time between DNF and the find would be awesome.

Field Notes: How? When? Details? Format of records

I just heard from the "field notes" utilities and wanted to get more information on that. May be there is a special blog for that? I want to use it as foreseen but not with a GPSr as described: where can I get detailed format information to generate "my own field notes" for upload?
