How do I tell if someone is a paid member of Project-GC? Sometimes I am looking at a problem that someone has that is often due to them not being a paid up member of PGC, but sometimes can be caused by other reasons.

(eg lab caches not displayed on Profile stats. If not paid then these do not show, if paid then person may have elected to not show that tab)

Premium Caches hidden from "Map Counties", but they shouldn't be

We are paid members of both Groundspeak and PGC. Today for the first time, I got this message when I opened the "Map Counties" tool: Premium only caches are hidden from the map. To show them, please upgrade your Groundspeak account. We should be eligible to see Premium caches.

Perhaps the cause of this is that strictly speaking,we are not "Premium Members". We are Charter Members, but that membership type includes all Premium features. Is it possible PGC is only looking for "Premium" status when it should be looking for both "Premium" and "Charter" here? If so, it wouldn't be the first time that has happened with various apps and websites over the years.

I was surprised to get an email today prompting me to renew my membership of PGC, as I knew I'd got a three year subscription. So i checked my payment history, and it was three years ago - it just didn't seem like it! Anyway, there's now a five year option, so I've splashed out, and won't be hassled again for a while!

In the past, Project-GC has run discount campaigns on paid membership. The news are not available anymore for some reason. Here is newsletter from last year:

2016-11-26 - Cyber Monday campaign!
For Black Friday we launched a campaign on our memberships. We have kept this campaign running for Saturday as well. Now we would like to inform you that we will keep it running for Cyber Monday as well.
Cyber Monday is the Monday after Black Friday every year. Though we will not promise that we will have our promotion campaign every year.

Gifting Membership as a coupon code

Could you add an option on the membership purchase to buy a coupon code for membership please. When gifting membership to a user ideally you want to present it to them as a physical thing that they then go to the website and activate. eg: you print out the code and put it in a card as a physical gift.

At present I can only see an option to immediately gift membership. With the holiday period coming up being able to buy a membership coupon for friends would be a lovely gift to hand to them. Is this possible?

Does a name change on geocaching.com affect project-gc membership ?

I am not familiar with how the Geocacing Live API works. I am aware that they use OAuth to authenticate access to their data, and that it is through these auth tokens that project-gc is able to for instance log trackables discovered in my name. It is not clear, however, how an account is identified.

When a person changes a profile name on geocaching.com, he or she does so within their own system. It it thus a trivial matter to link old usernames to new (if they so choose). Depending on how the API is, a user name change may be nontrivial to implement for API users such as project-gc.

Since project-gc operate with user-specific settings (and indeed paid membership) that is tied in with the geocaching.com user system, does these settings (and any paid membership) go on to the new account on name change on geocaching.com ?

My question asked in another way: Does the API provide (and does project-gc use) an unchanging UID for API users that will always refer to a specific geocaching.com user (regardless of username), or does it only use username (which can change) ?

Is it possible to export (part of) the list of top favorite caches (Wilson method, but I'd be interested in the other searches as well) to a format that can be read by c:geo?

I understand that Virtual GPS is a member only feature, but I'm not sure how that works. If I search something using the wildcard search from the dashboard I get a list with buttons to import to VGPS (although of course it doesn't work), but if I search using top Wilson I don't have those buttons. Will I be able to do something like adding the top 20 results from a Wilson search to my VGPS if I buy a premium membership ?

map compare paying member compare to non-paying member

As a paying member the map compare feature is great. I'm currently looking to plan various night caching trips and noted that my friend who is a non-paying member's stats aren't updated. Now of course I knew that as a non-paying member his stats are only updated once a week.

My question is: Is there a specific day of the week and time (including timezone or expressed as UTC) of day that the non-paying member's stats are updated. I appreciate that a routine that runs to update stats may take a good few hours to run thus you cannot be specific about the time but a rough estimate would be of great help.

The point being is that I would be better able to determine where to go if I check the stats just after they are updated. I can (and do) use my friend's stats page on geocaching.com to check any they have done recently and often just ask as well (I know that actually asking someone vs using a computer tool is so last century). However it is a lot easier to plan things and create GPX files using a computer than having to manually adjust.

vgps sharing for pgc premium only?!

Last weekend, I tried the new feature of sharing lists, but as my test person (later on tour) told me, it can only be used, if one is premium member of pgc.

In detail he told be, that he got a notification in the pgc postbox about "being added" to one of my lists, but couldn't access it, because of being only basic user of PGC. I was really surprised and think, that this is a bug.

IMHO I think, its ok that the sharing initiator of a list might be in need to be PGC premium (that's me :-) ),
but I really expect to decide freely to whom to share a list.

If I am a paid member and viewing stats for other people who are not, do those stats update daily like mine? Do they see my stats updating daily or weekly?

It would be great if members could update stats up to once per day on request.

Sometimes my ProjectGC stats have already been updated by the time I enter my finds in a day. It would be great if I could request a stats update on demand. If this places too much extra load on the servers then perhaps members could select either updates on demand or automatic daily updates?

It's of course possible to buy a membership for oneself on project-gc.com.

But is it possible to buy a membership for someone else as a present - for example in the same way it's possible on geocaching.com?

Authentication does not work with my IE 11 browser. I am sure not to be the only user with that problem.

The authentication feature works fine with a firefox browser, but not with my IE11 browser.

Error description for IE11: The first call of the blue box returns after 2 seconds without any visible action. A second call leads to an error like "website not accessible - try it later".

What settings in the internet options need to be active to enable this remote authentification feature?? If it does not work I am not seen as paying member - and do not have any of the "member" features available.

It keep coming up at the top of the page, it doesn't really do anything and I have access to all the features its just mildly annoying as I won't have any real warning when my membership is actually near expiring.

If paid member's stats update daily, then shouldn't yesterday's caches be reflected today?

I'm a paid member, and if I understand your response to the previous question correctly, the caches that I found on Aug 24 should show up in my profile stats on Aug 25. But as of 1730 this hasn't happened. Did I misunderstand the answer or is there an issue with the system?
