When sorting the search results (in the Advanced search tab) on columns like D/T or published date and other fields the sorting does work but the row height of the column GC code is not equal to the rest of the fields for the caches and selecting a certain cache is hard when you have a big list of search results. Even after using a bigger height of the search result table

I believe the sorting for all columns should use the same row heights.
In my case it is the Edge browser I use

(I don't know how I can add a screenshot, when I paste a snip I get complaints about over 12000 characters).

Is there a trick to searching for challenge checkers? My searches rarely turn up anything useful and frequently the list of results does not include the term or terms for which I was searching.

For example, if I search for "CITO", the first three results have CITO in the name, the rest do not. I know there are more checkers than that with CITo in the title. The checker "31 days of CITO challenge" is not one of the results, even though a checker by that name exists. I feel like either I am missing something or the search is wonky.

Advanced search not working with selection "extended" for location

I struggled since some days to get any results from the advanced search page:
https://project-gc.com/Home/Search#AdvancedSearch

My intention is to search caches in a certain area (using the Location field (Region, County, Country)) and with certain word in the cache description (using the cache description field).

Example:
Location= Nordrhein-Westfalen
Cache description= Trail

It always returns an "UNKNOWN ERROR".

After trying several things I changed the search mode for the location field from "Extended" to "Exact" and now its working.

This looks a bit like a bug or I don't understand how the "Extended" mode works.

Can I search by names or special characters in cache names with a Project-GC Membership?

Hello, very often I am missing a search by Cache Names inside Geocaching.com. Is this possible with Project-GC? Or, refrased, is there a more advanced search available in Projekt-GC for Members?

When I look at my finds by month hidden, I can see the #1 in the square for 2006 / July. I need to identify that cache for a challenge. When I do a search, it defaults to "unfound" caches to help me fill in the calendar. But I'd like to search "found" caches for a specific date. Is that possible?

Howdy,

When one loads the Challenge search there is a long list of checkers presented.As a tagger and scripter, it is a great interface. As a challenge cacher, it seems as more information could make it more useful.

It might be nice if image of the checker result with the red x or green check would help.

My quick thought it to tuck the checker graphic in the right hand corner of the blue box with the checker details. (You folks have made my earlier suggestions even better.) Lousy mockup available on request.

That way the search screen turns into something of a scoreboard and people don't need to run the checkers again unless they think the results are out of date.

Just a thought.

For instance, what if I wanted a list of all the caches that begin with the letter X in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennesse, Georgia, and Florida? Do I have to do a search for each state individually? I can’t search the entire US because the search results are more than 1000, so I can’t map it.

As a followup to my issue @ https://project-gc.com/qa/?qa=14915/virtual-gps-search-fails-on-corrected-coordinates and the valuable description of its reason (search/filter works on coords in decimal form only) I request that search entry regards coordinates should be done in viewable format. When search internally relies on decimal format, then this recalculation should be also done internally.

From my experience with the mentioned problem, I guess that the internal data format is decimal overall, where coordinates occur.

virtual gps search fails on corrected coordinates

I've several virtual GPS instances in my list. Some are mine and some are shared from other persons here (visible by the add of '(shared by ...)' as the list's name.

Because these lists contains (mystery) caches with real corrected coordinates and some to solve and therefore without such data, I tried to search for them through the "glass" below the matrix table.

I try with "corrected latitude" with different settings in the selection, but no one works.

First I thought that this might be a problem of the selected UI language, but the behaviour is the same on the english UI.

Any idea?

List caches with field notes

Pretty much what the title says: is it possible to obtain a list of the caches to which I have added a text note?

I know how to do this using the filters in the GC website but I'd prefer the output list from project-gc since it makes it easier to copy paste some data I'm interested in in a text file.

Month Placed Search Filter

Would love to see you add a filter to month placed that allows me to search by cache type.

This exists but it only looks for that type of cache in months with no finds, what I would like is similar to the Fizzy Grid search where I can see a Multi/Unknown/Traditional cache grid where it identifies if I found a multi placed in each month.

Basically just a Jasmer grid by cache type - have I found a traditional placed in each month? an unknown? a multi?

Advanced Search - Archived Caches

In the advanced search area, I started playing with the archived caches. I wanted to compare areas with old caches to what is out there now. However, I had a hard time finding caches after 2003... What is going on here? Does the system have to download the rest yet or is it a bug?

I am sure I have done 5.

This used to show on Some Numbers tab but have since achieved 10 in mainland Europe so the stat has been updated.
Now I can't find the day I did 5 UK Counties.

Or is there a search facility available ?

We are a small group who often caches together. Whenever I cache with the others, I always mention them in my log. And I always log quite quickly - otherwise my OCD starts complaining :-)

However, the others do not necessarily log as quickly as me and are now worried that they have forgotten to log some caches in the past (which I believe they have :-) )

Is it somehow possible to search through my logs to find all the places where I have mentioned another cachers name?

This would give them a sort of "You may have forgotten to log this cache"-functionality?

Wildcard search shows '0 found' but a list of founds

I'm using the special wildcard search of PGC and wondered, that I ever saw '0 Founds' ; then I realized that this sum is wrong and also shows, when getting a list of fitting caches below this information.

Configurable real Dashboard / Tableau de bord

Currently 'Dashboard' page is a summary of links to search functionalities geocaching.com & Project-GC
For me it is not a real dashboard / Tableau de bord in the conceptal sense : with status, figures, gauges etc...

Wouldn't be better to have a page named 'Searchs' and have another named 'Dashboard' in which you could configure what to see from regularly started searchs and counts (in fact like configurable GSAK - FindStatGen)
Configurable to what you want to see entering the project-GC site to see in one eye click all around your geocaching interests.

By exemple: A column about found, one about placed caches, and one or two about trackables
and in the column 'found', the total number found by me, compared to one or more friend, by types, the top in altitude, the last 5 founds by me, etc.. configurable to what you want to see about finding and with some tiny buttons to go further in search...
and in the column 'placed': the total number of placed cache, number of those flagged archive, maintenance, not yet found, the last 5 found by whom, the middle time between found by type, the ones requiring maintenance with type and since when, your ranking in your department, etc... all configurable...
Same for trackable

Would be nice. This discussion entry to indicate what whould be the ideal dashboard for you .... and so owner of the site who already did a great job could have a view on complementary whishes. It could help you to have your geocaching world on one page like the infography page but updated regularly and specifically for you

Unable to search using diacritic signs

Hi,

Many languages have diacritic signs and there are lots of caches around the world that have diacritic signs in their names. I've just spotted this issue, so please treat it as a good start point for further analysis :)

Let me show you some examples:

This one is quite interesting:

The other interesting thing is that the search works for Icelandic ð:

And now another part, when you go to the following challenge checker http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC5M8M3/10113 and you take a look to the alphabet config, you will see: "ABCĆDEFGHIJKLŁMNOÓPQRSŚTUVWXYZŹŻ" and it works correctly, it finds caches that start with Polish diacritic signs.

So, I can't see any pattern, but I'm sure that somethings is wrong :) I was hoping to see PGC search working with those characters. Could you please investigate?

Is it possible to search for trackables in a defined area?

I want to complete a challenge where i have to log trackables (esp. geocoins) from A-Z.

Now i would like to search for those "missing" TB's, in my area, so that I can try to get those TB's when they are close to me..

For example: I need to find a coin that begins with "X". Entering the keyword "xmas" in the gc.com search shows me a lot of xmas-coins, but spread all over the world and not sortable by distance to my home or other coordinates..

I would like to see the TB's sorted. And, i wolud like to see a map with caches that contain TB's matching my search-

Is any of that possible?

Bug: Map of Challenge Caches filter won't reset

I am unable to search for challenge caches on the Map of Challenge Caches page. This is because the server has remembered my filter settings (WHY???) and I cannot turn off the D/T settings. I can change them but cannot turn them off.

Firstly, please change the D/T pick list behaviour so that clicking a selected rating turns it off, so that we can search for challenges of any D/T. Secondly, if the server must remember the settings (eg for user convienience) it is probably better that this is saved in the cookie. (or, if you are going to save my settings on the server, then don't use a cookie at all! And yes, I did delete all my cookies - no effect.

I have the problem in Firefox. Opened up IE, which I have not used for a year, and it showed exactly the same filter settings, demonstrating that they are stored on the server.

This has brought my checker writing to a halt. Sorry you guys who are waiting on me :-(

Okay, I found a work-around - I can edit the URL to remove the D/T settings. So I can get back to work on challenge checkers now.

There are 3 cachers. One goes at vacation and the other two want to find menawhile caches which they don't have found but the third one has.

Dashboard - GC code search with part of the code

Would it be feasible to enhance the search functionalities on the Dashboard to search for part of a GC code?

I am trying to locate all the potential caches that include the number '100' in their GC code in my home coordinates radius.

There are some challenges out there that require to have found caches with numbers from 0 to 100 in their GC code.

Examples: GC4Y2XX Challenge - GC Code 0-100 // GC5AAR4 - GC 0-100 Challenge - Haastekätkö (Finland)

The challenge checkers already exist, however the difficulty is to find the missing caches with their relevant GC code(s).

It would be a nice feature to have a bit like the D/T matrix filler to search for missing caches in a certain area.

Is there an opzion for a map to only show caches with a minimum number of FP

public API to search for geocaches

Another from more or less stupid ideas about "what to do if everything will be done". Having website with all these stuff is just great, but to have public API, accessible from mobile application (I don't think you plan to create whole new mobile application, or?) to search for caches around with some advanced use cases that are not provided by geoching website or their "API".

Use case I have in my mind:

Search from coordinates similar to "Map Compare" to return list of caches around that neither of group or some of group didn't find. This can be handy to have when you are caching with friends and without preparation and you don't want to download every cache, check it for logs or downloading caches for all the people and doing some aggregation on client side.

I don't think this would be too much work, because you have all the sql queries, but the only thing missing is to define API and expose it. I can think about some JSON with list of caches with additional flags who found it if required.

I would like to get a list of all owners who have placed (still active) caches at location XY with radius of Z km around the center.
