Tampermonkey Script: Add to VGPS from GC-Map

I am pretty sure that it once worked, so perhaps it's just an option to change.

It seems like adding a cache to the VGPS from the popup that appears when clicking on a cache, is no more possible. Am I the only one, or was this feature cancelled?

How can I include my found dates in a vgps list of all my finds?

I followed these instructions https://project-gc.com/qa/?qa=26762/how-do-i-export-my-finds-into-sortable-and-searchable-format&show=26762#q26762 (very helpful !) to create a list of all my finds. Then I used the export option to create a csv file , but it is missing my found date. Any idea how I can include the found date?

(don't want to use gsak, just want all my finds in a simple sortable table structure with key data such as code, name, type, size, country, D/T, fav points, publish date, my found date,...)

Thanks!

Export to bookmark list: Please support creating new list

Exporting vgps to GC.com's bookmark lists is an important feature in p-gc, however, when it comes to exporting to a new list, p-gc can't create it, it says:

The bookmark list must already be created at Geocaching.com; this cannot be done via the API

Perhaps this was true long time ago but it is not true at this time. The GC Live API supports a method to create new bookmark lists:

CREATE LIST

This method will create a new list. It will return the created list.

Path: /v1/lists
HTTP Method: POST
Response Type: List
Response Codes: 201, 400, 401, 403, 404, 409, 422, 500
Restrictions: Basic members restriction applies. See Membership Restrictions section for more info. Users can only add bookmark lists and have a maximum of 100 bookmark lists. Opted-out user will return a 403 Forbidden status. See Third Party Data Sharing for more details.

Please add the create list function to the export vgps dialog as it simplifies the workflow a great deal. It removes the tedious work of switching back and forth between p-gc and gc.com. Besides, p-gc making the API call is much faster than clicking interactively through GC.com's slow UI.

Feature request: Import list notes to vGPS

Geocaching lists support a comment field, inappropriately called "Geocache Description". On the assumption that something useful is recorded in there, this data should also be included in the vGPS "Import from Bookmark List" option. This comment field could be imported into the vGPS "Usernote 1" field.

In my Lonely Caches list I record how was a lonely cache find, and I thought importing this list into a vGPS and exporting into a spreadsheet would make it easy for me to do some analysis on this. Alas, no. For now I will have to find another way.

I can't remove a null entry from VGPS

After importing some bookimark lists into VGPS, one of the entries come up as null, with coordinates S00 00.000 W000 00.000, and most other fields blank. I suspect this is because one of the bookmark lists contains an event that was later retracted (not archived). It seems that it's impossible to delete this from the VGPS. Clicking the tick box and deleting has no effect as the null entry remains. Is there any way of getting rid of this?

Feature request: Copy vGPS

In the Export vGPS options please add a new option "Copy to vGPS" This would open a select box titled "Add to vGPS", listing all the vGPS (excluding the current one). Include a warning about maximum vGPS size. Perhaps add an option at the top of the list for "New vGPS" for convenience, however we can pre-make the new ones if needed. Selecting the vGPS would merge the current vGPS with the selected vGPS.

This would allow us to merge vGPS files, or spit a vGPS file (by copying it to an empty vGPS and then removing the unwanted portions from each)

Currently this can be done through bookmark lists, but is a more difficult and considerably less intuative process.

SwitchVirtual GPS list during planning in Live Map

When planning a tour in Live Map I often come to a situation where I would like to change the active Virtual GPS list without leaving the map. I found this good work-around with the following steps. 1.) work in Live Map with VGPS #1, then Change VGPS to #2 and then return to the previous live map settings by clicking Right in the Browsers Navigation menu. This brings you back to the same area where you were before switching the VGPS list. My Question is now: is this the only way or do there exists some or at least one better way to switch the VGPS list without leaving the Live Map??

Shared Virtual GPS List Does Not Receive Caches from Map

I'm not sure if this is a feature request (working as designed), or a bug in the implementation so I guessed on the category. If this needs to move to a different category, please let me know.

The situation revolves around a Virtual GPS list that I've shared with a friend. We're planning a caching adventure and rather than using a bookmark list I thought that using a vGPS would be a great collaborative tool for adding cache targets for our trip. I own the vGPS list and shared it to our friend's account, granting read/write permissions. He's confirmed that he can add caches through the vGPS page using the controls in the table menu.

The problem we're encountering is that while on the Live Map, our friend cannot add caches to the vGPS list despite the fact that it looks like it's working. Specifically, while on the Live Map, he clicks on the cache icon and then click the +GPS icon. The animation of the cache floating up to the vGPS in the top menu is displayed, but when he goes to the list, it's not been updated. When I perform the same action, however, caches are added to the vGPS list as expected.

I've asked our caching friend to log out of Project-GC and back in again to see if that resolves the issue, which it hasn't. This feels like it should work - especially since it shows the animation of being added to the vGPS - which I've submitted this under "Support and Help". I've not actually seen the behavior first hand (yet), but if there's something that we should try on either side, I'd be very interested in hearing any ideas.

Thank you in advance for everyone's time!
Wrong found caches in Virtual GPS

Whenever I add caches to the VGPS (e.g. from favorite point search with center/radius) it shows me some caches as found which I actually never found.
It seems quite random and also happens in regions where I for sure never found any cache.

They show up with status "Found" in the VGPS and also in the GPX export their status is found. After loading them to my c:geo and refreshing the data the found disappears....logically.

If I can deliver any more details to find the problem, just let me know.

When exporting a VGPS to GPX we get the option to refresh cache notes. I assume this parses cache notes for corrected coordinates. However I find it difficult understanding which option I need to choose for a given situation.

What actually does Refresh caches notes (fast) do? Why is it that Refresh cache notes (multis and puzzles) takes longer, yet is a subset of all caches in the query?

Vpgs compatible with GPX-file in geocaching.com?

Maybe I did it wrong, but today I couldn't find the waypoints of a multi (https://coord.info/GC7X4Z1) on my GPS Garmin GPSMAP 64s. That happened during a walk and of course I had no internet connection at that time :-((

I guess that managing the waypoints in geocaching.com and in vgps of Project-GC is different: Using Project-GC I have to transfer both files to my GPS device that are created during exporting a GPX file - ....gpx and ...-wpts.gpx, too.

Using geocaching.com I click on the button "GPX file", save it on my GPS device and receive the complete infos on that device.

If that difference exists, it should be corrected. It's more difficult to handle TWO files (instead of only one) and the users (like me) could be somewhat confused when they miss main infos like waypoint infos in the field.

Can you help?
Thanx in advance!

Feature request - quick empty of Virtual GPS

There are often a couple of thousand entries in my VGPS, generated from various search results. To empty the list requires loading it, switching from viewing 1000 to 5000 caches, selecting all then deleting. All of this takes some time to load (and presumably takes a lot of server time as well). Would it be feasible to add a quick link to instantly delete all entries in a VGPS to avoid going through this procedure?

Feature request: Add creating and saving gpx tracks on vGPS maps

I use virtual GPS (vGPS) a lot to create tours. vGPS improves picking caches from the live map or map compare tremendously compared to using bookmark lists.

What I am missing is an easy and quick way to create tracks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_Exchange_Format) that I can save into e.g. a gpx file and use it as walking guidance when being in the field.

Currently I have to create these tracks elsewhere after exporting the vGPS and importing the gpx elsewhere. Integrating a track support into vGPS map view would be a great improvement when doing tour planning with vGPS.

Rows in VGPS table get misaligned

Apparently the VGPS table has been updated lately with having two new columns (Found and GC-Code) fixed at the left side.

Since than the rows start to get misaligned when scrolling down to the last cache in the list.
It seems that there are two scenarios:

1) the list is longer than one page: Misalignment occurs when last row appears in view.
2) the list is shorter than one page: Misalignment occurs right away and is worse than in 1).

Shared Virtual GPS to other should also show 'I'm shared'

Good Evening,

While a cache list as VGPS shared by another cacher is shown in my list with the appendix "(shared by ....)" either in the list selector and selected, I get no evidence if or which of my lists I've shared to others.

Thus I'd request that on a selected list (shown in the VGPS grid) to get at least a hint above the grid that this list is currently shared. Additionally details could be shown on request (Details-Button) or e.g. fly-over or thelike.
Import VGPS from GPX file

I seem to have lost my "Proposed caches" bookmark list on GC - I can only assume I've deleted it by mistake.

However, I do have a recent GPX file of these generated from a PQ. Would it be possible to import this to a VGPS, which I can then export back to a new bookmark list?

User friendly vgps file names please

Please implement user friendly vgps gpx file names - include the list name in the filenames (which is already in place in the containing zip)

If I have a number of vgps gpx files in my GPS it is very hard to work out which are which. Yes, I can rename the file, but the point of a computer is to make my life easier, not the other way around.

Thanks!

Add map vgps tooltips

In my aim to add map legends and make tools self explanatory, could tooltips please be added to the vgps sub-controls on the various maps on PGC. (calling this a bug as it breaks PGC's current standards: tooltips are implemented on all other map controls and subcontrols.)

There have already been questions on the forum as to how to populate vgps from maps, the tooltips would have avoided this.

Incidentally - we would also like the VGPS controls added to livemap :-)

Thanks!

export to bookmark list : filtered only

Importing from (groundspeaks) bookmark list is an great feature and there I can see all my bookmark lists while e.g. at filtering against (my) bookmark lists I only see public ones, but this might be another case or an bug.

In combination with "export to bookmark list" (where also any of my bookmark lists are available for me) an extend to that feature "only filtered" could be a great feature that you can move selections from one vgps to another vgps easily or merge vpgs. this would make planning tours much more easier.

Great use of multiple PGC tools

Not a question, just a comment:

Just after Christmas, I created a public bookmark on geocaching.com to list all events in the UK and Ireland scheduled to take place on leap day. At the time I thought, perhaps naively, that there wouldn't be more than a dozen or so. However the number soon exceeded that, and I realised it would not be practical to maintain the list manually.

Fortunately I stumbled across the Coming Events tool, and I realised I could use this. I set the filter to list all events type in multiple locations (UK/Ireland/Jersey/Guernsey/Isle of Man) hidden from 2016/02/29 to 2016/02/29. This gave a list which I could transfer to a new VGPS list. Finally, I could export that to my bookmark list. This only takes a couple of minutes, since the Coming Events filter remembers my choices from last time, so I go through the process a couple of times a day to keep the bookmark list up to date.

I post this in case anyone fancies trying this for their own country or state, and to say thanks for providing these excellent tools.

Incidentally, the present total of events is 122!

Shared VGPS and corrected coordinates?

Hi, we are working together on some Unknown caches with a shared VGPS-List.

When I enter the corrected coordinates, I can see mine, but the other cannot see my corrected coordinates.

Is there a workaround?

Thank you,
Usernotes in VGPS get overwritten

When writing several usernotes to several caches, some of them may be changed unintentionally.

In the VGPS I entered some notes in usernote 1 (several caches with different notes). Then I marked a group of caches and wrote something in usernote 2. But when saving this, the notes in usernote 1 were also changed all to the same note.

Is this a bug or a feature? I think, it would be more useful if the usernotes could be changed independently.

My past 24 hour export count exceeding 10000

Hello,

I recently tried exporting some caches through the virtual GPX function. I had exported some the day before and there was a count of 8700 or so. The new group was around 2500. This failed as expected.

However the next time I went to do an export, the count was shown as below.

You can export 10000 geocaches per 24 hour interval as GPX or CSV. You have exported 11541 the last 24 hours. Note that you can export the same geocaches more than once and that they still only count as one.

This suggests that it included the second attempt in the count even though those were not sent out.

It appears there is an overcounting of exports.

VGPS : Import via GPX

	Hello,

Synchronization between VGPS/Bookmark

	(english)

	Hello,

The two new features "import" and "export" of bookmark-lists are very interesting and practical.

But an even more interesting thing would be the automatic synchronization between PGC and GC (in each case for a VGPS / bookmark).

	Thank you ;-)

	(french)

 Bonjour,

Les deux nouvelles fonctionnalités "import" et "export" de bookmark-lists sont très intéressantes et pratiques.

Mais une chose encore plus intéressante serait la synchronisation automatique entre PGC et GC (au cas par cas pour un VGPS/bookmark).

 Merci ;-)

How do I get corrected coordinates in my VGPS?

I put some mysteries in a VGPS list. Then I solved the mysteries by and by and corrected the coordinates on geocaching.com. But the corrected coordinates don't appear in the VGPS list.

I know I have to wait that data gets updated but now it's about two weeks since I entered the corrected coordinates... (and I'm a paying member)

Request: sharing vgps to also share corrected coords (optionally)

Hello support,

in the meantime I'm using the share option of VGPS with other PGC-premium cachers to plan common geocaching tours. To make this really a common planning I share with "read/write" option that anyone of the team can add geocaches to the VGPS and this is working very well, generally.

But, when the other team member has solved e.g. a mystery and entered the fixed coords either as overwrite or in his private note correctly, thus PGC can and will evaluate this, this information is not shared in that common cache list.

Please fix this, because otherwise planning e.g. a tour route does not work with VGPS.

Feature to V-GPS

I would realy like to change name on the caches that i export to GPX files in the VGPS. And change name for a section.

In the VGPS i hade a list for my hometown and sections for both D/T matrix, Hitten date, Favpoints and so on.

It would be perfect to rename a whole section to expand the name so easy find right caches out in the field. For example the section with all missing caches in D/T matrix i would like to mark with *(Cachename) and hidden date with **(cachename) and favpoint ***(cachename) and so on. That would be much easyier to find right caches out in the field if im short on time and would like to fill any matrixs.
