Request: sharing vgps to also share corrected coords (optionally)

Hello support,

in the meantime I'm using the share option of VGPS with other PGC-premium cachers to plan common geocaching tours. To make this really a common planning I share with "read/write" option that anyone of the team can add geocaches to the VGPS and this is working very well, generally.

But, when the other team member has solved e.g. a mystery and entered the fixed coords either as overwrite or in his private note correctly, thus PGC can and will evaluate this, this information is not shared in that common cache list.

Please fix this, because otherwise planning e.g. a tour route does not work with VGPS.

virtual gps 2 bug: gccode null

I added via the greasemonkey script to a vgps list a new cache that apparently is not yet known by project-gc.
It resulted in an entry that has a gccode "null" which I cannot delete!

Feature Request: change current VGPS list in header

It would be great if the currently selected VGPS list could be changed directly in the site header. While browsing the site, I'd like to add caches to different VGPS lists. That's a bit complicated currently as you always need to go to the VPGS to change the list and then return to the previous page.

A dropdown in the header with the different lists would be great - similar to how it's done in the Greasemonkey script.

gpx download not working

I cannot download newly created GPX files from my Virtual GPS. GPX files created some while ago and still in my job queue download OK.

I have recreated a GPX job from the same Virtual GPS, (i.e. no changes to the number of cache in the VGPS). The old GPX downloads OK, the new one doesn't

I have tried Chrome and IE 11. Same results. In each case the browser hangs at

http://project-gc.com/User/Queue?download=13003 (for example)

I just tried to add cache GC5PG8P to a Virtual GPS list. All i get is the entry

null

W 00° 00.000

Other GC-Codes could be added without any problems and appear as normal entries.

Feature request (enhancement): Move entries to other VGPS / copy entries to clipboaerd

I sometimes like to move/copy several or all entries from one VGPS to another.

Is it possible to add a move-functionality for selected entries to the GUI?

And/or to make it at least easier to copy/paste:

Could you add a "copy to clipboard" icon which copies only the GC-codes so you can paste them in another list using the add-icon. Of course you can check the rows, export to CSV, copy the exported rows to clipboard and paste them into the "add" func. But... it's a long way.

Virtual GPS table - empty entry/ies in cache list (dropdown) after deleting list

After deleting a cache list in virtual gps using "manage list > delete list" the rows of the table and the entry in the drop down list are deleted. The drop down list shows an enpty entry after that. After manually selecting another real entry the empty entry in the dropdown list will still be visible and selectable until you refresh the page. If you delete 3 lists you will have 3 empty entries.

Wouldn't it be better to just autoselect any other entry after deleting the selected one?

Or delete the empty entry right after manually selecting another existing entry without refreshing the page.

(Firefox 17.0. Yes, it's old ;-)

Feature request (enhancement): Two-level group-by in Virtual GPS-list

Would be nice to have a second level grouping of caches in V-GPS list.

You could group

all your German caches by county without having to filter 16 times for each German Bundesland (region)
all of your found caches by region without having to filter for every country of the world you ever cached in
1st level whatever, 2nd level "found"
... usernotes. This might offer nice possibilities depending on your usage

I think the benefit is clear. Q is: is it possible technically with the table used in the GUI?

virtual gps sharing : profile selection with multi proposals on same profile name

Hi,

when sharing a virtual gps, I get a new dialog on top of the virtual gps display.

There I should enter a profile with I want to share (either RO oder RW). When typing I get (a lot of) proposals - OK; finally when typed until a unique profile name, I'd suggest to only get displayed this one time. But with several of them (including my own) I could see that the "unique" profile name is displayed in several lines the same. With my own profile name that is displayed eight times and between the lines the colors are changing between unselected and selected.

Virtual GPS Grouping on boolean values extension

Hi,

the reinvented Virtual GPS has a lot of functions. I tried the "grouping" feature using one of the boolean selectables as 'Disabled' and first wondered about if anything has happened. When scrolling the list down I saw saw that the grouping has been done and sorting is done from 0 (enabled) to 1 (disabled).

I'd request to sort the groups the other way round :

- first the name of the group-option is DIS-abled, not enabled

- second (for me) the minor group on top of the list is more convenient and useful.

The same would IMO apply to 'Archived'

For quite some time I was proposing and proming "Simple list without any prefilter or additional logic" (retire that map compare workaround-> http://project-gc.com/qa/?qa=203/simple-without-prefilter-additional-retire-compare-workaround )

Maybe this could be implemented in Virtual GPS2 add new row? The way I see it (new button in add new row):

Move/copy geocaches between VGPS2 lists

I can imagine that a possibility of move and copying caches between lists in VGPS2 would be a great improvement.

Example:

I have my list called "wishlist: poland" and I have about 1000 caches there. I'm planning a trip to, let's say, Pomerania and would like to create a GPX with caches from "wishlist: poland" that are located there. So, if there is an option to copy caches from list to list, I'm grouping my wishlist by Regions, selecting all located in Pomerania and copying it into "Pomeranian trip 2015". And then, I'm able to edit this newly created list to fit it to my planned route - add some other caches or delete something without impacting original "wishlist: poland" list.

Uf... I hope that my example shows you my concept ;)

Any comments?

Import geocaches from a bookmark list (gc.com) into VGPS2

I've started planning my geocaching 2015 lately and found out that one feature could be really interesting in new VGPS - possibility to import geocaches from gc bookmark lists into VGPS2 lists.

As VGPS2 gives a lot more functionality around managing geocaches list, I can find it as a really useful option.

I can find dozens of arguments for this feature, what do you think about it?

Virtual GPS2: remove found

Virtual GPS 1 had a feature that allowed us to remove found caches from the virtual GPS list. It would be nice if this could be re added (say to the action/status line at the bottom, where the full screen, add row, delete row options are. How about a smiley with a line through it?). Remember that Virtual GPS contains my task list for the day, and I usually do not want my GPS cluttered with found caches.

Either as a delete found caches (eg a smiley icon with a line through it added to the action/status line at the bottom, where the full screen, add row, delete row options are ) or a select smileys option (icon?) so that Delete Selected could be used.

In the case of solved mysteries, we can do a solved mystery query with a not found filter. But for every other map with a Add to VGPS button there is no option to exclude finds except by going through the list and unticking them one by one. Or adding the full list to Virtual GPS then ticking them all and deleting them there. At least in VGPS2 I can sort them so that found caches are easy to find, making it a little easier to delete them.

I used this option quite a bit. Could I have it back please?

vgps sharing for pgc premium only?!

Last weekend, I tried the new feature of sharing lists, but as my test person (later on tour) told me, it can only be used, if one is premium member of pgc.

In detail he told be, that he got a notification in the pgc postbox about "being added" to one of my lists, but couldn't access it, because of being only basic user of PGC. I was really surprised and think, that this is a bug.

IMHO I think, its ok that the sharing initiator of a list might be in need to be PGC premium (that's me :-) ),
but I really expect to decide freely to whom to share a list.

Virtual GPS2 does not export usernotes.

When exporting to a .csv file, the usernotes have not been exported. I would like to use them to sort the exported caches in my personal order.. (Like for one of those 360° Challenges, i would like to sort the caches by degree, using the usernotes)

Hello,

I was looking throught the most popular caches in nova scotia through the following link. http://project-gc.com/Statistics/TopLoggedCaches?country=Canada&region=Nova+Scotia&hidearchived=on&hidefound=on&hideowned=on&submit=Filter

When I attempted to save this list by hitting the "Save Caches" and entering caches 1-20000 in the caches box and clicking "Add to List". After a moment or two the error message "Save failed" appears in the corner.

If vitrual GPS2 is like virtual gps was, there is a 10000 cache limit. However this error message does nothing to tell the user that this is a limitation of what they are trying to do and not a temporary system condition.

Virtual GPS 2 : Show share state

I'm testing the new virtual GPS and its sharing functionality.

II'm prefer to See, when a list is shared; this could be achieved in the ui headline, where the currently selected Virtual is shown by name using an additional Icon there.

Furthermore when calling the share-settings it would be good, to directly see the current share status. The Chance Dialog could then be the same...

I've created a new Virtual GPS list, added a Cache and then used the sharing functionality by adding a friend's Account with full access rights.

Some time later I decided to rename the list and lost the sharing setting / the rename list was again unshared.

Is it possible to access them i my Garmin Monterra? I do not really understand what you should / can use them for.

Not able to delete more than one list in one session

Hi,

I've just spotted an issue with deleting lists from VPGS2.

Here comes the problem:

Create two lists in VGPS2, example "List1" and "List2"
Delete "List1" using Manage List -> Delete List
Confirm deletion. "List1" is now gone, no other list is being loaded
Select "List2" from the dropdown
Click the Manage List button
Manage List dropdown doesn't work

Once you reload the page you are able to delete another list, but only one!

EDIT:

I'm running Firefox 35.0 on Win7.

Empty cache list says 1 cache in Virtual GPS

When creating a brand new list in the Virtual GPS the text besides the Icon in the upper right menu field says "1 cache". It should say "0 caches".

Sharing is going to be a great feature but currently after trying it for the first time there seems to be some bug.

Scenario:

Added two users for sharing. One as read only and one as read/write. That seems to work.
Tried to assign the read only user read/write rights. Save works but nothing changed when reopening share dialog.
Tried to remove the read only user fails with unknown error when saving.
Read only user can himself remove from the shared list (Success)
Now I cannot add him back to the list as read/write (when Saving an Unknown Error is shown).
I add him back to the list as read only and get an Unknown Error shows but when reopening the share window the user seems to have been added.
Removing him from the list of read only does again not work.

When trying to deterministically reproduce the problems I get changing behavior patterns.

In one of my cache lists is a row that holds as the gccode "null". This entry cannot be deleted.

Not sure how it got in there but probably it was inserted with an "add new row" operation.

When writing user notes on chaces in a VGPS, it would be nice if earlier values could be provided as a dropdown to make it easier to get the exact same string for grouping. I have a VGPS for caches that needs maintennance, and it is nice now to bbe able to write "needs new log", or "new container + new log", and the next time I would like to get those strings as suggestions.

The new version of the virtual GPS contains a lot of data, which is great so far.

However you may not need all of the columns, therefore I would like to ask you, if it is maybe possible to hide columns based on the user profile. Or maybe create different views per user profile?

Love the new tool.

If I expand the width of an index field (Found/GCcode) the horizontal scroll section moves over, so that the left most field (usually cache name, depends on scroll position) moves left. If I expand the Found column to display the whole column name then up to the half of first character of the cache name field is hiddden. Adjusting sort or width of any field does not fix the problem. I am using Firefox.

Archive/lock/disabled/premium - the data is excessivly computerised and not the way humans register true/false data. Please change false to blank and the true to maybe an "x". Don't use graphic ticks and crosses, as tick implies good, and neither good nor bad apply to an archived cache.

New Virtual-GPS features suggestion

I like the new interface that has a more GSAK look.

But there are some improvement i can think of

The first on is to be able to select which datafield to display and reorder them.
It is not possible now to see the for example cache name and any FP field at the same time and a can always see field i might have no particulate interest in most of the time like Latutitude elevation etc. And be able to change the order to directly see what i am interested in and with a side scroll thing i might what to checkout.

I cant find any filed that says if the cache has corrected coordinates, The type field would be nicer if it was i icon winch i obvious possible looking at the found slimy.

The size of the interface is another problem. The box is the same size as everything else on PGC but other pages have no side scrolling. The interface should be the with of the windows. You can scale it in the bottom right corner but only to the right and you have to extend it off the screen and scroll the webpage to the right to get a full windows. It would be much nicer if the interface was the width of the window.

The search is mention in other post not intuitive. There is some field/types specific search option because ex cachename and difficult does not have the same alternative. Disables and all other boolean field should only have the option is true and is false.

There should be some obvious indicator on the screen if the filter is used perhaps the text filtered in the bottom line.
It would be nice if the filters was persistent and survive a page reload.

A new export function i would like is export to PDF or something like it to make an easy printable version of the virtual GPS. I often print the page or a reformatted CVS export to have a paper list of the caches i like to take on a trip because it is easier to look at in the fields then on a phone etc. With the extended number of datafields ans x and y scrolling printing from the web browser wont work very well

I am still checking out the new virtual gps features.

The first one that struck me as a little strange was the find feature. It took me a while to figure out that this was how to filter a list. Then then syntax was a challenge.

Then I tried doing the following filter: Filter for disabled caches. Went to Find, then Selected disabled in the first drop down. Equal was already selected for me. I had no idea what to put in the third box. I tried true. That did not seem to work. The syntax is not obvious for some of these fields.

I am using map compare a way more then I need "map compare" and sometimes I want to see list of my found caches+not found which is not possible in map compare (different tabs)

Why you always have to go to map compare and strugle in there when you just need raw/plain/simple list/map of caches? I am proposing adding just simple page for showing caches. That page should have all posible PGC filterings.

Upvote if you agree
