I want to make one of my caches the "northernmost" cache in my county but my virtual pin is on the other side of the border. Will this cause the cache to not be recognized as such, because the virtual marker is in the next county? Or will it still recognize this to be in my county based on the final coordinates? I don't want to move the virtual marker if I can help it (posted coordinates) but if this makes all the difference, then I do.

What's your opinion on the new virtual caches?

A little over a year ago, Geocaching HQ authorized publication of 4000 new virtual caches (about 500 of which were given to volunteers (including me) while the rest were distributed among existing cache owners). The deadline for publishing the cache was about a month ago and I still see an occasional virtual published but that's just stragglers. The end result is that about 2/3 of the 4000 potential virtual were actually published.

I haven't logged many yet but have looked at the listings for quite a few more. It seems to me that the new virtuals are, in general, good - probably better than the old ones I've seen on average.

I did a quick check of the virtuals in Sweden: There are in total 18 old virtuals (i.e. published until 2005, when the publishing of virtual caches was originally stopped), quite a few of which are now archived. These have accumulated a total of 1461 FP until today. We've now also gotten 78 new virtuals with a total of 2129 FP until today.

This means that the old virtuals have 81 FP each while the new ones have 27 each (on average), but then we have to consider that the new virtuals have been available at the most one year while the old ones have been out there for at least 13 years. Considering this, I'd say that the new ones are doing very well indeed.

How do you like this new wave of virtuals? I quite like it. There are places and things that don't lend themselves well to regular caches, but work well with virtuals.

Do you think we'll see similar limited publishing events again? I would't be surprised, but probably not this year.

With the virtual GPS it's possible to import a bookmark list. Is there also a way to import a gpx-file?

At least I haven't found a way. If this feature does not exist - are there more geocachers interested in this?

Can I map only search results from Virtual GPS?

I have a Virtual GPS list created for a trip we are planning. From that list, I have sorted for specific caches based on select criteria. The list looks great with the sorted results but when I select "Map List" it displays the entire VGPS list instead of only the sorted results. I need to see only the sorted results to plan some routes. Is this possible somehow?

When in the Virtual GPS page, there are several options like Export GPX or CVS. But I tought it would be nice to be able to print the desired results (with the corrected coordinates). My non-geeky husband loves paper... but I think he's not alone ^^

export the caches from the virtual gps in a csv file it changes the latitude & longitude numbers to a different format

Exporting to csv changes the Lat & Long to a different format ( from N33 52.305 to 33.87175 ) is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Starting with my registration..

Now that virtual gps2 is alive, i walked all the features in project GPS, but don't find a way to have a list of all my caches placed that i could add in another list for maintenance

How is it possible to have a simple list with some simple or trickey criteria to be put in virtual GPS or to be listed for selection to virtual gps?

(I worked in fileter, but doesn't seems to be usable anywhereelse)

First of all, new V-GPS is looking great! Good job.

I feel that the standard layout/sizing of the table is too small and cramped, and the fullscreen version is too intrusive and obstructs multitasking. Would it be possible to have something inbetween? Utilize the width of the browser window, for example.

Hi, I started planning my GC-Trips with the virtual GPS Tools of gc-project. Its great.

At Least , i am able to create a gpx File which can be downloaded.

But how do I get this file on my Ipad or iphone tool (Looking4Cache).

I do manage it with steps downloading it to my mac, unzip it , move it to dropbox and finally import it to L4C. But there must be an easyer way. isn't it?

Thanks for any help. (perhaps in german??? my english ist awful).

Virtual GPS - move between sections

I'd like a feature where you can move caches between two sections.

For exampel:
You've got a section (A) with mysterys when you solve mysterys then you can move them to section (B), the solved mystery section.

Alot easier to keep track on wich ones you've solved or not.

Hi,

I've found following case and I'm not able to find the solution:

I have a Cache list with two sections. As far as I understand, sections should give an option to manage caches in cache lists.

So what happened - I've created a section in my cache list and wanted to add a cache to this section using "Add to Virtual GPS" from a map (for example Top Favourites) at Project-GC. As a result I'm getting new section created, which is called "map" and I'm not able to move the cache to another section in the same cache list.

Ufff, I hope that my description is not too complicated. If so, I can provide some screenshots!

Feature Request: Click from PQ Splitter into Virtual GPS

Howdy,

I like and frequently use the PQ Splitter functionality on Project GC.

It would be nice if I could take a suggested PQ and then with one click load that one PQ into my Virtual GPS. There I can then create a ,gpx file. This allows me to A) force a refresh of cache data on project-gc and B) download it to my local GPS/GSAK which would allow me to catch up on the fast changing recent PQ's.

Exclude specific caches (saved on a Bookmark list) from statistics

Similar to the FTF Bookmark List, it would be very nice to have a Bookmark List where all Caches are saved that should be excluded from the Statistics.

For example I have found a cache in the USA that was part of a "Community Partnership" Thing: One multi cache was hidden in Germany and another in the USA. Both caches had the first stage and the final in the "own" country, but the second stage was in the other country. For example, we had here in Germany the first stage, but the found coordinates led to the US. So you needed a cacher in the USA that found the final coordinates there for you. Cachers there had the same situation so it resulted in finding a "partner" that gives you your final coordinates and you give hin your found final coordinates. And at the end, you sign both participants in the logbook as a "thank you", because both took part in both caches.

Long story short: I have logged the USA Cache as part of this partnership community thing, but I don't want it to be in my statistics as a physical cache.

Similar situation exists with many "couch potatoe" virtual caches that some cachers found before the guidelines changed.

I think it is not much afford to invent such an "exclude caches from statistics" list due to the existing FTF Bookmark include thing. I would be very happy :)
